1. So first of all whichever bass takes me fancy on the day. So either: Sire Marcus Miller M3 Squier CV 50s P Bass Bitsa P Bass "Bleeding Sunflower" Jazz bass (comes everywhere with me) - look at the build thread cabled into the pedaltrain: TC Polytune (must have) EHX Big Muff Pi Tone City Golden Plexi - yes, a guitar distortion, used for one song usually. Boss OC-3 Tone City Angel Wing Chorus - yes, a guitar chorus, used for one or two songs. (all powered by Stagg plug and daisy chain) Into Amp and Cab Fender Rumble 500 (Vintage and contour switches engaged, just a touch of drive dialled in, EQ left nearly flat) Orange 410 cab I think that's it.
2. That's purty...
3. Not known for his bass playing ability or killer bass lines but I love Jared Followill too. Funny chap who only picked up a bass because his brothers asked him to tour with them. Never took a single lesson, just locked himself in the basement while bandmates put stickers on the notes he should play. By the time he was 16 he didn't know how to play bass but had an EP released.
4. these do look lovely, but if I had one it'd have to have the custom paintwork like Mani from Stone Roses.
5.
I'd be more than happy to do that for you, but wouldn't be able to do so until early next week. If the bass is still there and you haven't found anyone else by then, let me know.
Cheers man
6.
It might be worth clarifying that you'd pay the person doing this favour 'before' they buy it... yes?
Of course.
7. For anyone that didnt see the other thread: Wallsend Cash Converters have an Epiphone Thunderbird in white that I would love to buy, the only problem being that it's in Wallsend, and I'm in Birmingham. Now, while the dim people at Cash Converters will ship it, I don't trust their ability to pack one or the couriers ability to look after it. So, anyone from Tyneside willing to walk into the shop, give it a once over, buy it, send it down south to me? I of course will wire the money to you and then quids further for postage and any packaging materials required.
8. I like that pale metallic colour. Nice.
9. If anyone is from Tyneside, or traveling from Newcastle down to Birmingham in the nearish future, I would wire you the money to go into the shop and buy it, and then pay for you to post it to the second city. Still dont want to risk postage.
10.
and now i find it! wallsend store, not a million miles away PM me if you're still interested Matt
PM'd you mate. Very nice of you to offer.
11. Anyone from NE Birmingham needs a lift there'll be a seat in the car (provided you don't bring too much gear to cram into the Fiesta).
12. I really want a fretted one in this colour. So close to the bass I've wanted for ages. GLTWS
13. Any news on when the new'uns are to be released?
14. Ooh nice. Any sound clips?
15. So mostly negative experiences but no one's had a bass come to them in pieces. I suppose that's something.
16. If all else fails they're on Amazon for £329.99. Still, if I could save 120 smackeroons I'd rather do that.
17. Hi all, me again, So after putting up an "items wanted" ad, our very own Outsider70 pointed me in the direction of Cash Converters who have the exact bass I want at a very reasonable price. However, the bass is in Tyneside and I'm in Birmingham, so it would have to be shipped. Anyone have any experience of doing this? I really want this bass but am worried that it would be damaged in transit, as it is a Thunderbird and they have something of a reputation for damage during transport.
18. This is where I feel blessed. The few bands I have been in have either been with schoolmates or I have met from when school bands from the area all got together to put in a gig between us. JMB is a minefield I find, with one bad musician for each good one.
19. the thing with the JB75s is that Andyjr1515 can do a magic trick with them and make them incredible.
20. Bruce Foxton. I bought a bass because I wanted to be him, and carried on playing when I realised it would take years to be able to play like that.
21. I want a thunderbird but after playing an epi one at PMT yesterday I found it hard to get on with given the neck being so long. Is there a company that do Thunderbirds on the cheap that address this?
22. Kings of Leon. Genting Arena, Birmingham, 15 minutes ago. The 5th time I've seen them and the 5th time I'm reminded why they're my favourite band. Superb stuff. It didn't, however, help with any Thunderbird GAS. Jared used 4 different T'birds through the set and they all sounded incredible, so may have to get meself one to be a copycat.
23.
Always a positive experience at PMT Birmingham as well.
I agree, got the shop playing wrestling themes over the PA this morning. Good times.
24. will give it a watch over the next few days seeing as I have time off work. Just got to find a nice person to lend me their Netflix...
25.
No doubt. I think I could pick the glass bottle one, and the 500ml plastic one apart. The can and the glass bottle are a lot closer. For that reason I only buy 500ml plastic when I have no other choice. Yeah, I know... I find people who think it's preposterous, but also many others who feel the same way about there being a difference, although we may prefer different things: some really prefer the plastic bottle. You can also tell differences between different countries' formulas. The Spanish one seems to lack flavour compared to the British which seems sweeter and more flavourful (perhaps it's just sweeter and that gives the impression of more flavour), the US one seems to have some more almost 'cinnamomy' aroma... I thought it was just my memory playing tricks, but I got to travel enough to believe in the differences, and then I found there's a Coke museum in Atlanta I believe where you can taste different formulations from all over the world... so it must be real. I haven't been there yet. As for the container... I really don't know what it is. I noticed it many years ago, and it's not that it changes entirely the flavour, but there is 'something'. When given a choice I always go for the glass bottle. The 500ml plastic bottle seems to taste a little different. I can't describe it, it's a slightly sweeter flavour but it's not just that. Then I don't really feel that on a 2 litre bottle. Is it the same plastic? Is it because of the larger bottle-surface / liquid ratio in the smaller bottle? I do not know. Is the formula perhaps slightly different for the plastic bottles, perhaps, related to the stability in contact with the plastic? Does exposure to light change something? The glass bottles will stop UV while the plastic won't... I don't have a clue what it is, but there is a difference. But then, I don't really feel a particular flavour in bottled water... is that different plastics? Or I just haven't compared? I mean, different waters taste very different but how much is it the container and how much the actual water differences? I never had a glass/can/plastic side by side comparison with water. Some people even claim diet coke and standard taste the same, or coke zero and standard (which are a lot closer)... those will not clearly not distinguish the differences I'm talking about. And why does the coke from the tap at a bar taste so completely different (and vile)? I used to think they just didn't use 'real' coke, until I worked at a bar myself and saw we bought the real thing. Is it really the same stuff used in their bottled stuff, or again are there differences to make it more stable in those particular conditions? Life was a lot simpler when we didn't have choices!
Whod have thought 50 ish lines of Coke would be so long winded and uneventful.
