Hi guys. Does anyone know of a cheap bass compressor that's decent? I have found a few recommendations for guitar but until now, no decent bass ones for less than £50 or so.

With a heavy heart I am listing for sale my bitsa PJJ. With me moving house and planning a build next year, I need to cut back on basses. It was bought on this site around this time last year and has seen some changes since. The neck is a no-name one Jazz-type one with a rosewood board, pearloid block inlays, cream binding and a 'Mojo' waterslide decal on the headstock. There is a Hipshot string tree and MIM Tuning machines. The body is a squier one, in a 3-tone-sunburst finish, fitted with a Seymour Duncan SPB-3, Fender USA dual coil jazz humbucker and a KiOgon wiring loom with coil split for the bridge humbucker. There is a battery box on the back of the body as once upon a time there was a preamp installed, but I wanted to make the switch to passive. Finally, there is a MIJ threaded saddle bridge and it is strung with Rotosound flats. The only picture I have currently is this one here, stood next to my "signature" jazz bass. I will get more pictures later if my phone allows 😅 The bass was put together and given a setup by our very own AndyJR, and as such plays wonderfully. Price is £225 collected from B36 Birmingham, but will listen to offers and trades.

Some people just don't get it
YellowLedBetterBass replied to Hey_Pauly's topic in General Discussion
The Law of Bass n = B + 1 n is optimal number of basses B is number of basses currently owned. You can't argue the maths
Ive saved that quote for a later date -
In a random bout of GAS Ive been looking for something with a Music Man style pickup and sound. That being said, the few actual Music Mans (Music Men?) I have played I havent liked the weight of or the neck, but the sound has been killer. So who are making good, cheapish clones? I know Cort do a something-or-other with a P or J pickup as well as the MM, and I do like the look of these, but any more recommendations?

Getting that sound from a Thunderbird
YellowLedBetterBass replied to YellowLedBetterBass's topic in Bass Guitars
I could never get on with the modern Thunderbirds for that reason. The old-style Thunderbirds have brighter pickups so popping in some Thunderbuckers is an option. Bit pricey though! I'm really looking forward to getting my hands one the new Epiphone Thunderbird - if they've nailed the pickups it will be a monster.
Its funny you mention the new one. I saw the thread on here the day after I bought mine. If I'd have known I probably wouldve held off for the new one because they look awesome. Although, I could own two birds... -
Hi all, So a few months ago I bought myself an Ep Thunderbird Classic, the white one with the Gibson USA Thunderbuckers. Lovely bass. Nice, fast neck, surprisingly well balanced and looks cool af. Thing is, I'm having trouble getting the sounds I want from it, particularly from the neck pickup. All seems very muddy with little to no top end unless I completely roll off the neck pup. Any Thunderbird users give any recommendations of what I can do re EQ on amps, string choice, etc, to brighten it up a bit? I know Jared Followill (Kings of Leon) used one of these Epi Birds for ages and got some great tones from it, so surely it can be done. I love the look and how it feels and how it plays, but Im still trying to get the sound 10/10 to match.
I just popped into a well known Birmingham independent store that has just moved to new premises (I won't say which in case it's considered promoting the sale of Fakers!) and they had a load of Rockinbetters on the wall for £399 (in-store only...) two of which were white with checkerboard effect binding. I recently traded my Fireglo Rockinbetter due to it's weight and I mistakenly thought I'd got the whole Faker thing out of my system. Having seen the white ones I'm now not so sure. Probably a good thing I left my credit card at home...
I think i know the store in question...

NBD - Status Precision Bass Bitsa
YellowLedBetterBass replied to jimbartlett's topic in Bass Guitars
that's lovely that - think the white pup covers are a nice touch -
Sorry if it's been discussed before, but I've just stumbled across the entire Sire range on the Andertons website! this means that some of the best value for money basses about no longer have to be shipped in from Germany via Thommann, which I'm sure will help everyone's GAS

is it good for metal?
Yup - great, great day. Thanks, Si....I know how much effort these things are. You're a superstar, mate But completely eclipsed, I'm afraid by MrsChis_Sharman's (Jo's) macaroons......
absolutely the best thing there

It's even better in person than on the screen, I must say.

I woke up early today as if I was going to work. Couldn't sleep so went for a run. Me and my aching legs are loading the car up as we speak
