  1. That is absolutely gorgeous. My favourite wood combo of ash body and maple neck & fretboard. The variety of tones must be sublime. Fantastic job thanks for sharing.
  2. Great pickups but not the easiest guy to deal with. He's very much a one-man-band so email response can be slow. The Spannish post lost the first Pup he sent me but when I raised the issue with PayPal he jumped in to top gear and the second Pup was with me in 3 days. Reinforces what @Christine commented on using PayPal.
  3. I believe that they are designed in the UK but manufactured in PR of China. I also believe that the Fender Rumble v3 combos are manufactured in PR of China.
  4. Go back to bassics! Take a look at the Split P DiMarzio Pups. Individual humbucking with a fantastic range of tones. John at KiOgon will help on the best value cap you need.
  5. Bought a Fender Hi Mass bridge from Lozz and very happy, great communications and delivery. A real gent and a pleasure to do business with. Thanks very much
  6. @The_Rodster which Thunderbuckers do you favour 63 ,66 or 66S?
  7. Old growly Thunderbird would be the objective. But I'm interested to learn what PUPs do what.
  8. I'm embarking on a Fenderbird Bitsa build and I am seeking views, opinions and experiences of different Thunderbird PUPs used by Basschat members. I've got a Jazz neck and have an Epiphone Thunderbird bass body on it's way so before choosing PUPs I wanted some input. Tone wise, I'm for a typical Gibson Thunderbird sound. So who has used, Bass Buckers, EMG TBHZ, Seymour Duncan, Bartolini T4CBC or any other PUPs?
  9. Yup black looks gorgeous. It probably sounds darker than the Sunburst 😂
  10. I quite like it. Maybe good fun tinkering with different PUPs & controls. I bet a black would look good!
  11. Fender 800HD , inside your budget great tone with vintage & contour switched voicing, foot switchable distortion, 800w, simple and straightforward.
  12. The head shape is definitely wrong. I have an all stock '72 Telecaster Bass which has a huge sound. I have seen some deals where Fender are currently selling Mex made '51 P necks for £168, put one of those on the genuine body and you end up with a really nice vintage bass for around (£168 + £560) £728. Seems like a decent outcome. I'm sure the current neck would be worth £100 to someone. So end up paying £628.
  13. Before going down the Talman route, take a look at an Epiphone Allen Woody RumbleKat. Great for noodling at home and the odd gig. A fine, light, good value bass with a surprising wide range of tones. Just saying😁
  14. Hi Simon, I would like to purchase the D'addarioChromes balanced tension set for BEAD tuning. Brand new in the packet. Gauges 132 95 75 55.
  15. I've used DiMarzio Model J' s in a Fender Jazz Plus. Replaced the Lace Sensors and the active pre with V B T passive setup. With a well selected cap value I get very close to a typical P sound. Really lovely Pups with a broad range of powerful tones.
  16. Yup wot @scrumpymike said ! 100% Agree
  17. But didn't your Zoom B1Four do that for far less?????
  18. What are you Guys using to secure a replacement bone nut on a US Fender Jazz bass? In the process of sprucing up a Fender Jazz with a new loom, Fender Hi Mass bridge, new bone nut, new strings and I was wondering what was best to secure the nut. The existing one came off very easily so wanted something a little more robust.
  19. @adamg67 before committing to the purchase of a BF BB2 ponder on the flexibility two BF Super Compacts may offer. I know it's more expensive but having a modular solution may offer some benefits.
  20. @Slug Icesold me Fender High Mass bridge, Joe is a great guy to deal with, fast comms, swift shipping and great tracking details.
  21. That's an interesting concept, I wonder how the physics works? I'm not a fan of rear facing ports let alone rear facing speakers. But there must be some clever design work going on to avoid the rear speaker phase cancelling the output of the front facing speakers. These are still a bit heavier than my BF Super Compacts.
  22. Do you have any documentation to valid authenticity?
