  1. I have just ordered a Jess Loureiro 51 P split coil PUP for a new Bitsa project and I was wondering if anyone knew where I could source a Plastic cover to fit over the Pickup? The body for the project is an over sized Telecaster Guitar shape and I wanted to keep the appearance as simple as possible. I have a habit of resting my thumb on the PUP body on my P basses and I wanted some sort of plastic cover to protect the Jess Loureiro PUP from damage. The last resort is to fit a Jazz Bass chrome PUP cover as it is narrower than the 51 P PUP cover or standard P PUP cover. Anyone have any solutions? Thanks
  2. I wonder if any Line 6 employees are following all the commentary on this thread? I wonder if Line 6 develop a BASS version of their Power Cab? Could be interesting for all the Helix users to have a matching Power Cab. Just saying!
  3. Or three Franken-Tele dual coil Herrick pickups with Strat 5-position selector in a TV white Telecasters guitar shaped body and 30ins short scale maple neck. NOW THAT IS AN ODD COMBO! 😂
  4. Amazing, handsome looking bass with fantastic sound a job WELL DONE! Just to confirm the pickup model you used was the "Franken-Tele bass Twin coil 11K Ohm" correct? What magnets & footwork did you specify?
  5. Next time you try the Fender Rumble 500 head make sure you start with the Overdrive OFF. Start with everything flat, all EQ knobs at 12:00 o'clock. IMO the Rumble has quite a broad pallet of fine bass sounds on tap and you should be able to find something that pleases you.
  6. Good value for money for home or small venue use is the Mackie Thump 12A . Around £300 new.
  7. +1 for repainting with Tuff cab acrylic. I've built two BassChat 1x12 cabs and Tuff cab works really well. Take a look at the Basschat 1x12 build thread as there are some fantastic results from various builders. The blue ones from "Gottastopbuyinggear" (I think) are awesome. A tin goes a long way and you'll have plenty left for future touchups.
  8. Me too, the spaghetti logo is just right. But there again that's the problem with being a Valley Boy Fender Fanboi. (Merthyr valley where Man started! )
  9. Calling, Bill, Stevie & Phil to comment on the maths!
  10. Now that's what folks say with the Mesa Subway 1x12 and Subway 1x15 but does this setup cancel any "Mids"?
  11. Now there are many comments on various threads regarding the positioning of two bass cabs so the mission of this thread is to try to bring together the experiences, wisdom and comment of all parties regarding the positioning of two bass cabs. We are grateful for the input of Bill, Stevie Phil, and many others on such topics and I look forward to what they can add to the subject! I have enjoyed great performance from my two BassChat MK1 1x12 cabs stacked on top of one another. The slot ported cab on the bottom and the 4 tube ported cab on top. To my ear I do not seem to experience the cancelling effect to the Mids that the interference of two adjacent should produce. Now that could be because of my particular sound but I have achieved a really good sound from this setup. I have recently acquired a BF One 10 and I am interested to learn what would be a productive cab stage positioning . One idea is to have to One10 on a stand angled up to my ears then place my BF Super Compact about 3 metres away the other side of the drummer. My normal stage position is to the RHS of the drummer, who is centre stage, and run a speaker cable to the Super Compact on the LHS of the stage. Now to my mind I should not experiece any form of "Mids" cancellation and I should enjoy the benefits of bass coupling from the SC on its own. What are your views ,experiences, comments or mathematical calculations to optimise my stage set-up.
  12. I truly believe that every bass player experiences a single moment in time that says inwardly "that's the sound". Since 1964 when I first started playing bass I have had three or four such moments. First was my Gibson EB3 thro a Marshall 1x18 sound bouncer and TWO Hiwatt 4x12. Secondly was my 1972 Fender Telecaster Bass thro a 1971 Acoustic 136 100w 1x15 combo. Finally my Fender P Bass thro my Mesa Subway D800 and Barefaced Super Compact. Leo probably got it right and everything else simply orbits round the P Bass centre of gravity, offering various additions and flexibility to that core P bass sound. Call me a "sad ole romantic" if you like but if we were honest with ourselves there is a modicum of truth in what I say l
  13. Sorry didn't read the details properly. GLWTS
  14. +1 stick with the Beyma, you will be really pleased with it's performance. I'm a real Basschat 1X12 Mk1 Fanboy having built two slightly different designs they deliver a performance that is a match for many big brand cabs. Phil & Stevie really know their stuff and have expanded the knowledge of many who follow Basschat.
  15. Here's a link for those like me who are still acquiring knowledge about speaker cab design. https://forum.speakerplans.com/dual-multi-chamber-bass-reflex-enclosures_topic39076.html
  16. Or its sister site www.Bigasschat.co.uk for the fuller man!
  17. So Bill, how does it work and is a good solution?
  18. So I recieved my new BF One10 and used it twice over the weekend. Intrigued to learn how the "Hybrid Resonator" worked I shone a torch up the Port hole, as you do with all new toys😃. The port itself looks like any off the shelf 75mm dia x 110mm long plastic port. The cab itself looks as though it is made up of two separate sound chambers. The first which contains the speaker as about 2/3s the depth of the cab and the second chamber inwhich the Port resides is about 1/3 the depth of the cabinet. Now the marketing stuff implies that the cab is "tuned" to two different frequencies so how does that work?? All I can offer as explanation is that the rear wall of the first larger chamber has a "slot" (port) of around 15mm wide running the whole width of the cab. So this could mean that the first large chamber is tuned to one frequency and then the sound energy passes into the smaller second chamber which is then tuned to a different frequency by the plastic 75mm dia x 110 port. Now I am not technically minded enough to understand how two chambers in tandem can operate at different frequency tunings BUT it seems to work as the One10 really does it's stuff and I am well pleased with the result. Hopefully Guys more qualified than me in the technical stuff will come along shortly and enlighten our constant desire for knowledge of all things BASS. PS Has anyone shone a torch up a TWO 10? ( I don't want BassChat to start sounding like some sort of "Fetish" site😂)
  19. Thank you for your comments, it's always a pleasure to read your valuable contributions. Yes I did follow the Simple 12" thread and had it not been for some family matters that scuppered my plan to be at the Bass Bash I would have been able to see the assembly in the flesh. The video is excellent! After you & Stevie helped to sort out my early issues with chuffing & cab tuning I have fallen in love with my two Mk1s. They deliver exactly what I desire and used in different combinations with my other cabs cover all my venue needs.I don't think Mrs DaBass would allow anymore cabs in the house as the One10 had to be sneaked in while she was out shopping.(One10 is quite easy to hide under the bed next to last bass I bought without her knowing). While the idea of a more coloured smaller 12" cab is appealing I going to stick to what I have at the moment. The Mk1 is truly an excellent design and out performs many, many big brand offerings. Thanks to you and Stevie for improving the lives and sounds of many bass players. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!
  20. Oops now, now then boys settle down, settle down! Can someone get the biscuits please!
  21. The stand I use is the one recommended by Dood https://www.amazon.co.uk/Stagg-14708-Short-Amplifier-Monitor/dp/B002MUGL2W It folds flat ( almost) and angles the cab up to my ears nicely. The Nifty DIY bracket is simply made from three pieces of 9mm or 12mm Plywood. The top piece is cut the same size as the amp and four holes are drilled for each of the feet. The second piece is 25mm wide by 140mm and third piece ( which acts like a Claw sitting under the cab handle) is 140mm by 90mm with the corners removed to act as a guide. The three pieces are glued and screwed to form a 'Claw' over the handle of the cab. Four large rubber feet are added and some Velcro to the top of the bracket and underside of the amp to provide added security. It works a treat for me! The angle of the cab and amp is directed up so I can hear myself and provide easy access to the Fender controls. The air shifted by the One10 really flaps my flares ( sorry being a Child of the 60's & 70's the flares still just fit but now have a neat elasticated waistband installed to compensate for the beer belly!!) So my Fender Rumble Combieeee is just right for me.
