  1. I'll second this for upright. For the last 5 years plus, I've used Fearless F115 and barefaced cabs for loud near acoustic sounding upright. The big baby 2 (or 3 now) is the sweet spot compromise for me between weight and tone. It's my gigging cab now. The Fearless is better to my ears for a more solid bottom end and slightly scooped upper mids (without having to eq), but a single bb2 does all of my quiet, and loud upright gigs now. I've got 2 if the stage requires it. Be aware, the Barefaced 12" cabs are "different" at first go. Its very flat, but takes eq very well. Very different to more "coloured" cabs ive had before.
  2. I don't think Rotosound make a low b string, but I've seen a five string set with the high "c" before. Unless he's "bumped" the set. Ie using a standard 5 string set, but tuned the "e" to a "b" ,then the rest are tuned regularly, e,a d,g. This would provide super low tension. I've seen this done too.

  8. Total overkill Owen 😆 One is more than enough.....but yeah, the pair are amazing.
  9. Just bought a cab from Andy. Super helpful, pleasure to deal with 👍
  10. A Fearless F112 would give you the tilt back option, and the cab/crossover is based around the concept of loud upright bass amplification. I've got a pair of the bigger F115's and they are amazing for replicating loud acoustic tone. Mine were built by Tricky Audio, I'd recommend contacting Guy from them if you were interested.

  13. Just received an absolutely mint Barefaced Big Baby 2 from Brian. Great buying experience throughout, very prompt responses and shipping. Obviously spent alot of time packaging the cab, thanks so much Brian, much appreciated.
  14. Also considering this for smaller upright gigs. Following 👍
  15. The Oliv E is very dark sounding. Nice slap sound, not a million miles away from the slap sound of the EP slap E. Quite nice tension, but definitely less flexible feeling than the EP. The Oliv has alot more fundamental, very solid sounding down low,but less perceived midrange projected. My Oliv has been on one of my basses with plain gut A,D and G and has lasted about 5 years with regular playing. The EP is a nice alternative, especially if amplified. The Oliv A is tighter, not as nice for slap.
  16. Another vote for the Quilter. I bought it as a back up in the first instance. Very simple but effective eq, and one of the loudest amps I've owned for its advertised power. Very solid in the low end, when the contour eq is engaged goes from mid scoop to vintage. Sounds very musical, and weighs nothing!!!
  17. Did buy one of them online at the time. Great price. Was told later it wasn't available and was refunded..................
  18. Bargain. Got one a while back, don't be put off by the lack of dials!!!! Great tones available, and some serious volume too. Use mine with my Greenboy F115's, and it's glorious. GLWTS.
