1. Low action and hard touch for me
 2. I used to clean the strings. I used to boil them, clean them with alcohol, soak them etc. The amount of time spent on cleaning is too tedious. I like pkaying my aged flats now that I wipe down with microfiber cloth when they get sweaty. I barely use my jazz with roundwounds so no more cleaning.
 3.
I am not sure , but a quick listen on my phone suggests to me the top end fq of the kick , though I can also hear the click of a hard hit bass at a few points, funny though, I didn't pick up that when listening at home last night
I've just listened to it on the phone and the bass is rather clicky which is the way I like it. I might re master the song if I get a chance. Do you thinknow the kick drum has too much high top end?
 4.
S'easy, really, just play a track that you know and like, in the same genre as your compo, and at the same volume level. Adjust the bass (or middle, or treble...) to match what the reference track sounds like and you're good..! Cymbals..? There are cymbals in there..? I hear a faint 'crash' now and again, so I'd reckon they're mixed about right..! On the other hand, there's a horrible clicking sound spoiling the mix, and I'd add that the bass drum is a tad 'woolly' to me. No big deal, but that clicking is damned irritating. Certainly not voluntary; what is it, making that racket..?
Thanks for advice. I'll give it a go. That clicking must be me playing bass hard?

 6.
I've said it before, but it might be worth repeating... One can mix with even very modest gear (although there are limits, of course..!) if one uses known pieces from one's own repertoire as reference for the sound one is trying to achieve. A comparison between a 'pro' mix and the 'work in progress' can be made; any lack of fidelity will be common to the two, and so has little effect. I have to admit to having very dodgy ears (wot wiv bein' old an' all...), but use this method to check my efforts. Usually, I find that if I can hear the cymbals, they're too loud..! Just sayin'; hope this helps...
In my case it is the bass. Or is it because I want the bass to be heard? Or is it because I'm a bass player. ...are you saying my cymbals are loud?...
 7. Have you considered spraying it yourself?
 8. The issue with uploading playing a cover version in Soundcloud.com is that they may remove it?
 9. Looks like I owe gallons of beer not a pint...... I had a house mate who played and recorded his Fender strat daily. I loved it as the music he played was awesome and the fact it annoyed the neighbour who played loud techno music at nights.
 10. IBiE=I buy it eventually
 11. I think most of us had to learn at some point how to play an instrument or two and it is not fair to critsize others how they play. We all have our unique way to play and express ourself through music. I often play things myself that others would say: What the hell is he doing? I remember when I learnt to play when I was 17. The following day I sat in the classroom with a blank expression and the teacher said. You can't concentrate on work but last night you had all the time to play the guitar. The teacher was our neighbours daughter in law! My parents also had to listen to the endless bass attempts when I was a teen. I owe an appology Please share a funny moment when you started playing bass ir other instrument.
It doesn't matter. You may as well have done. For all you know she may be a member of Basschat. If that is ever is as good as she is going to get and she's in a happy place because of it, then I'm all for it. I applaud Constantine for his comment and I'm sure that means an awful lot to her, presuming she knows who he is. Constantine is very supportive of anyone who has a genuine interest in playing, as should we all be.
If she is I can only apologise...
Constantine Islamow showed a bit of respect on her playing. Why cant you?
I've never commented on her channel or playing on You Tube.I don't get it.. why would someone upload a video if they play completely out of tune, play different notes. It sounds as if she played a different song.
 14. Never owned a Yamaha bass so I can't comment. I own a Squier bass and a Squier tele. My Squier bass is a Matt Freeman model and it's outstanding for it's price. I own Yamaha 6 string accoustic and living itm So there you go. As mentioned above Yamaha =modern.Squier P bass= classic.
I'm struggling to see the point of this thread, other than a bit of trolling. She's out there playing, giving it a go. C'mon Basschat, we're better than that!
There is a gentle sarcasm in the thread title. Her playing is awful. I don't expect anyone to play bass covers note by note,I'm not perfect either, but this is just too bad.

 18. Good to see you all contributing to this month's challange and sharing your experience on mixing/improving your final product. It's a nightmare to mix and master I must admit. Mine sounds good on my headphones but not the best on speakers.
 19. Seymour Duncans Spb1 and Spb4 Steve Harris sig.
 20. Happy Easter https://soundcloud.c...rse-evolution-1 After some criticism, I revised the song and re recorded the bass. This time a jazz bass via di pedal. I remastered the song to the best of my capabilities and hearing (getting worst) so here we go, the version I want to enter the competition with: https://soundcloud.com/user-527099495/inverse-evolution-master-bcjazz
 21.
Should be able to cover up that West Ham logo with the remaining £13 too!
It's a bit of a spoiler.

 23. Nothing wrong curling up on the floor onstage in agony. That's what Brian Johnson did during a gig before he was taken to hospital with appendices. Bon Scott recalled: ‘I saw this guy Brian Johnson sing, and he was great. He was on the floor, kicking and screaming — what an act!
 24. I use a combination of Ableton live lite (came free with Focusrite interface) and Audacity.
 25. I own Fender an Squier and they both sound the way I want them to sound.
