I have replaced p bass pick ups many times but straight from the box. I'm working on a project p bass and have spare SPB1 to fit. Does it matter which half goes under E and A strings etc?. I pressume there is a slight difference in impedance and wouldn't make a noticeable difference which way around I fit it? Thanks

My Steve Harris bass had it's original spb1 replaced with spb4. I fitted the spb1 in another bass but it didn't sound as good as the stock pup. The spb4 has significantly higher and noticeable output.... spb1 sounds nearer to classic p bass sound.....at least to ny ears

I'm in no way a PC expert but sounds like a plan. I find my 250g ssd too low of a capacity as I share it with other stuff. SSD seem to be cheaper than it was 2 years ago.

I did enjoy the BC podcast. Perhaps you could expand in the next edition on suitable PC / laptops on music production and how to build a simple PC tower for dummies. I think it would benefit us BCs 😉

I replaced my hard drive in my laptop with SSD and it fires up in seconds. Still my DAW often freezes whilst recirding etc.Unfortunately, both HDD and SSD have their pros and cons.I read that it's easier to recover data from HDD. HDD is also cheaper £= capacity but SSD quicker. I look forward to other BCs suggestions as I think I raised a similiar thread but never got a definitive answer which I will be highly unlikely to as most things are horses of courses. I also run Ableton live 9 lite with Focusrite Scarlet but use the same laptop for other non music tasks. As far as apple is concerned it's overpriced. You get more non apple for the same cash.

one shop I found on Google. went in they sell LPs snd Ernie ball strings. Tge chap said there are no instruments shops in Newport other than cash converters.

I've contacted the biggest music store retailer in UK. Their website says 'if you see a better price we match it' Well, they said 'Nay' when I found the cheaper dealer. So I contacted GAK and they beat the price. Good on you GAK and shame on you Aye, Aye sir....

You need to know what you need the compressor for. Is it for home playing, live playing or post recording processing? Each situation would require different settings and if ten of us from basschat used a compressor in the aforementioned situations you would have 30 didfferent settings exception would be @Dad3353 who is a drumner (the louder the better 😊). We all hear sound differently so your ears are the best tool the find the answer. Also , remember that there are other aspects that have impact on how you set up the compressor. If you do a little search on basschat , there is a thread or more about compressors in general. I own TC spectracomp which is extremely versatile. Currently sits in the box but I was never dissapointed with it's performance. Horses for Corses.
