  1. 4 or 5 string?😁
  2. Well, my laptop screen is broke! Ordered a replacement screen so helpfully will be able to start laying down some tracks. Banjo? are you sure it's allowed?
  3. I was interested what mics other BCs use. I my instance I'm after one for ambience for reasonable price.
  4. I use SM57- for it's for versatility and reliability. It's meant to be the most popular mic for decades. Behringer C1 to pair up with SM57 to record accoustic and amp. It's cheap. I need more mics....
  5. I never re amped the guitar but recorded a bass mic'd and through di then mixed them together. I had a desired outcome. I suppose having two mics, one at the centre of speaker cone one closer to the edge of speaker plus one some distance away for ambiance and a dry signal re amped could essentially, if mixed well, produce a big guitar sound....if not overkill. possibilities are endless right?
  6. Cheers Si So if I get 4xlr in front (mic) and first two of them can operate instruments or line then all 8 can be used as line inputs but 4 on the rear are only line inputs. What is line input for? Cheers
  7. Dilemma As a "solo artist " or more like bedroom musician, do I keep Focusrite scarlet 2i2 2nd gen or do I get 18i8 2nd gen? Whilst 2i2 does the job and has so far, I'd like to experiment recording electric guitars with three to four mics which 18i8 is capable due to having 4 mic pre amps. But again this would suit a band or a drummer or am I being greedy ? 2 inputs not enough 4+4 too many? I can't justify getting clarett pre4. @Sibob please advise?
  8. I think I'll stick with one interface to avoid latency and unnecessasy nterference issues. I have arranged to return my new focusrite scarlet 2i2 2nd generation and get one that has minimum of 4 inputs. The big questions is which one..
  9. Another option would be a cheap mixer for running 2 -3 mics in, then run them into interface input.
  10. I have been so. But thinking running two extra mics.
  11. I wondered if it's possible to run two interfaces into a DAW and use them simultaneously. I'm thinking 2x Focusrite scarlet 2i2. One for high output pick ups and other for microphones eg. mic up amp or overheads. I use Ableton live DAW with Windows 10. Internet search mainly shows Mac. Thanks in advance.
  12. Wow Great turn out. I'll vote later. Will listen through my new edphones. Voted. I'm very impressed with the sound quality, mixing/mastering skills of one if the songs I voted for.
  13. My composition is not progressing. After recording multiple guitar tracks for Street Fighting Man cover, the project is still missing bass, drums and miscellaneous sounds. I might sick ut in noodle bar if that is still going. Have listened to the other tracks and hoping to see more added.
  14. Amplitube 4 offers enough to tweak a decent bass sound. You can always try their amps for free for a trial period.
  15. I phoned PMT to place an order. Because I don't have an account with them they wouldn't take an order over the phone and suggested that I do it online.
  16. as Ricky is too big for me.. Why it had to go? ......
  17. because the frets are worn away. Suddenly........
  18. F Em7 A7 Dm Yesterday..... Sold my p bass on e bay...
  19. Tempting offer as always fancied an accoustic bass but for time being please donate to worthy cause. After all it's Christmas.
  20. Corkers Simply Sea salt Crisps
  21. Fender rumble 500w under £500. Surely you can pick uo a secind hand cheaper.I don't gig but if I had your budget I'd keep the basses provided you're happy with them. Have them set up, maybe re string. Someone mentioned multi effects. For a bass? Why? I'd get a DI pedal. I occasionally use Hartke DI pedal or TC spectracomp pedal. Both give that extra umph if needed. Have you checked out the market in BC?
  22. I use both flats and rounds. Rounds and flats on my jazzes and flats on my p basses. Purely as I'm a Maiden fan. Flats feel good when played and as far as I'm converted they help to achieve that typical p bass sound. Rounds on my jazz sound more growly. I found however that flats lose the brightness quicker.
  23. I use Steve Harris signature flats and Fender flats. Happy with both.
  24. Bought a second hand Squier p bass for £30. Replaced tuners, electronics, installed high mass bridge and spb1. Resprayed it and put a new pickguard on. With flats it sounds great. Don't do bad purchase.
