  1. Bestial Cluster itself with Steve Jansen, Richard Barbieri, Mick Karn & Steve Wilson (3/5 of Japan) :
  2. Francis Moze also played bass in Magma and was terrific.
  3. It's also the best shredder album, the only one that still is audible nowadays. That said, Devin Townsend never appeared on Passion & Warfare, but on the next one, Sex & Religion, which is real deep sh*t, especially the awful singing of Devin Townsend and I'm not speaking of his solo work which is even worse : circus metal as I called it at the time.
  4. To me, Mick Karn's best album is Bestial Cluster. Terrific mastering of the Wal and extraordinary compositions as usual.
  5. Sold a set of strings to Jeff. Again ultra fast payment, great communication and a pleasure to deal with for the second time. Thanks Jeff.
  6. Trio Joubran on AsFâr, again not bass, but 3 terrific oud players (the fretless ancestor of the European fretted luth).
  7. It's not bass, but acoustic fretless guitar and it's simply amazing : Erkan Oğur on ... Fretless (yes it's the album title).
  8. Anything by Mick Karn with Japan and Gary Numan or on his own, plus all the work of Percy Jones with Brand X. Pino Palladino with Paul Young on No Parlez and again with Gary Numan (who discovered him, by the way) on I, Assasin.
  9. I've been a great fan of Eric Johnson early work, I've tried a few times to listen to my favourite album of that time which was Ah Via Musicom : just can't stand that pretentious music anymore, so boring and dead flat.
  10. Sold my Boss GT1-B to Brian. Lightning fast payment. Another perfect deal thanks to BassChat and Brian, of course. A++++++++++ as they say elsewhere. Thank you Brian.
  11. Turn up the mids on your amp, but you'll ear every default in your playing. It's strange that you're asking for low gauge for round wounds when flat wounds are always (except for the Thomastik's) heavy to very heavy gauge. Steel is brighter and more aggressive than nickel. The cheaper the brighter.
  12. I was fed up with a once a week concert while in the 40's, now that I'm in the ealy 50's, once in while is enough. We did some 3 concerts in 3 days a few times and even play 5 hours in a row a lot of times, but now I would certainly say no, erm... maybe.
  13. Seems like he loves distressing all kind of things. Is Fleetwood far from Langney ? He could spend a night there.
  14. The Status Maple Slipstream looks lovely :
  15. And only 10 guitars left for sale when there were thousands musical instruments...
  16. No, it's for the guitar player, of course. Just to remind him not to try to start soloing.
  17. Just took a look and I must admit, there is something wrong as this bass is advertised 4 times by the same seller in 4 different locations, just like everything else advertised : https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/m.html?_odkw=&_ssn=hjleners&_osacat=4713&_from=R40&_trksid=p2046732.m570.l1313.TR12.TRC2.A0.H0.X1966.TRS0&_nkw=1966&_sacat=4713 I knew that eBay wasn't in good financial health, but there is also no more control at all. Bankruptcy is close.
  18. Parker and Wal : a man of good taste, for sure.
  19. Their first three albums were made using conventional instruments and the spirit was already there. Listen to them : Kraftwerk, Kraftwerk 2 and Ralf und Florian. Don't forget that the two founders were classical musician interested in electronic music of the time (1968) so they knew what they wanted to hear and started with what they had : conventional instruments. Ralf und Florian is the beginning of the "massive" use of "synthesizers". I would also recommend watching the Swedish film "Sound of Noise", very Kraftwerkian approach.
  20. Then he wouldn't be Mark King anymore but Mark Single.
