1.
Mine seems to keep itself in tune! Never goes out from gig to gig! Still check it before we go on and keep an eye during gigs though.
I've got a Washburn Status like that. Sometimes I don't pick it up for months, rarely needs more than fractional turns of the tuners before it's perfect.
 2.
I might start a thread about picking on gingers now .........
Joshing ginger mates ,fine, almost a duty. Picking on ginger women, misguided. Red and orange are the most beautiful hair colours. I have unusual tastes...
 3. It' s just banter. Like a lot of people on here I play both, and I've never been offended by it. If you go on a guitar forum you'll find plenty of playful derogatory stuff said about bass players. And everyone takes the piss out of drummers and singists. Funny thing is, we need all those people to make a band. We're just one big dysfunctional family of interdependent musicians.
 4.

I'm not convinced by any of the comments so far. Maybe Paul McCartney. Otherwise ...... pfffft!

Prince is fairly hard to argue against. He based his bass style on bass by Larry Graham, he's far more than a guitarist who messes about on bass a bit,
 5.
I'm a little disappointed the configurator isn't fully complete yet, I'm not GASing for a jazz style bass, however I am DESPERATE for a decent P currently and some of my wants are very specific. The configurator however is a phenomenal idea and something more brands should look in to adding to their website, it'll simplify the process of getting any custom bass ordered!
I couldn't quite get what I wanted either, although I did get close enough to confirm that I can't currently afford it. Have to keep saving the pennies.
 6.
https://public-peace.de/configurator/elwood-c You'll find it under the Custom Shop tab.
Cheers.
 7. Any chance someone can post a link to the configurator? I can't find it on the website.
 8. My first ever gig was at a house party. One of the lads from school lived in a massive, as in two staircases, wine cellar and a half mile driveway, mansion. His parents went away and he decided to hold a 'small gathering'. Purely by word of mouth (this was pre internet and pre mobile phone) the news spread and on the night around 300 kids from town somehow made their way to his small village and crashed the party. Total carnage. Fights, the discovery and subsequent emptying of the wine cellar, fag burns all over the carpet. Human effluent on the walls. People shagging in the gardens. The police turned up and left again then returned with a riot van. I've never experienced anything like it before or since. How was the gig ? We were awful. Nobody cared. Classic night.
 9.
Hei KiOgon, is this something you can help me with, got a classic 60s Jazz and a recent US standard Jazz that would benefit from an added series/pareller switch (i think!)
PM him here. http://basschat.co.uk/user/7835-kiogon/
 10.
. Not sure the shop will be there in January, he's closing this year I believe. Following him on Facebook he's putting some very good bargains out there, make him an offer if you can.
Unfortunately I've already made my annual purchase for this year. The new bass fund is pitifully low at the moment.
 11.
I really need to try a series/parallel switch on my jazz basses, does anyone make something an electrical ignoramus such as myself? I was amazed at how good my 60s classic sounded the other day with the front pu on full, the bridge on about 1/3, through an ABM 600. Rediscovering my love of Jazz Basses!
Have a word with kiogon. I have no electrictronic skills at all and I was able to install the new loom I purchased from him in under 5 minutes. He assembled all the electrical gubbins on a new control plate, all I had to do was connect the pickups to the solder free connectors and screw the new plate in. I'm sure if you tell him what you need he could come up with something similar for you.
 12.
http://greatbritishbasslounge.com/product/gl-asat-semi-hollow/
Cheers. If it's still there in January I may be in with a shout.
 13. I've fancied an ASAT for years but I've never even seen one in a uk shop, and only very rarely from online sellers. They come up on here occasionally but it's always been the wrong time for me. Hopefully the new distribution deal will make them a bit less rare over here.
 14. Not the worse songs I've heard, but certainly makes me cringe. It's all the Irish stereotypes he manages to pack into the song, from the way he sings 'Oirish band' to the cliched irish fiddle to the diddle eyedle diddle eye outro. http://youtu.be/XjHr-6Zl5P8
 15. This one of favourite places in Amsterdam. http://www.amsterdam.info/music/cafe-alto/ It can be a bit hit and miss to be honest, one night I turned up and it was about 3 hours of free form jazz improv, but it's normally pretty good.
 16. There's a few potential bargains in there, assuming the estimates are accurate. The Japanese Yamaha BB and the Hartke amp with 2 cabs are particularly tempting.

 18.
Like everyone has said the 2012-16 Am.Std are phenomenal and the Custom Shop pickups, are the finishing touch to these basses defiantly Fender's best to date. I bought mine new back in Jan '15 & love the light weight & great feeling neck, hope you enjoy owning yours as much as I am with mine . The only things I've added are Fender flatwounds & Fender strap locks .
White, black pickguard, maple board, in my opinion the best looking precision combination ever. But then I'm a huge Ramones fan.
 19.
Done that, my bass neck was basically a gate to the gents, I had to lift it every time someone wanted to enter or leave it.
You should have charged them for access, like the bogs at some train stations.
 20.
Metal?
😅
 21. I had no idea there were restrictions on sending magnetic materials. I looked it up when I got home and the rule is 'Magnetised material: Magnetised material with a magnetic field strength of 0.418A/m or more at a distance of 4.6m from the outside of the package is prohibited' I' m guessing the pickups are no where near strong enough to be banned, but I don't where to start with measuring magnetism or what equipment you'd need to do it.
 22. Sent. The local post office asked me what was in the package 'for security reasons' and had a bit of a panic when I told them it was a couple of strongish magnets, but in the end they slapped a 'danger! magnets!' sticker or somesuch on the parcel and off it went.
 23.
Ok, found the relevant thread. Not entirely encouraging. Are Thomann the only European dealer?
There's these guys in Italy, but I think that's it. https://www.strumentimusicali.net/default.php/manufacturers_id/609/Marcus-Miller-by-Sire.html
 24. I try to make one major purchase a year, around January, when I'm most flush. This year it was a P Bass Deluxe Special. Next year I'm thinking either a fretless, or maybe it's time to make the step up to a five or sixer?
 25. If I thought I'd lost that beauty I'd be bricking it too.
