1. The Yamaha BB424 puches well above it's price bracket and it should be pretty easy to try out in a shop as a lot of places stock them. I wouldn't worry to much about the action at this point in your journey. I takes a while to build up strength in the fretting hand, everything becomes a lot easier over time, plus string easily adjusheight is easily adjustable on most basses.
2.
I've just watched a performance on the Brits where the song is seemingly entitled Shutdown. Now, I'm in no way criticising the artist or performance. I fully understand that this guy's target audience does not include me but I could only get the one word (or maybe it's two) Shutdown. It's all over for me isn't it. Especially as it crossed my mind that maybe he's singing about his local B&Q or Phones4U. I feel like a dinosaur and it's getting near extinction time.😶
I think it's probably a generational thing. I'm 42, when I was growing up rap, hip hop and dance music were part of the mainstream & have always been on my playlist. I remember Cliff Richard moaning about rap on Wogan in the 80s, complaining that it was just people talking over a beat.
3. Dee Dee Ramone taught me rhythm and where the notes are on the fretboard. I learnt by playing along to Ramones tracks. He may not be technically the best but he taught me how to play. For that reason,as far as I'm concerned, he's No. 1.
4. Newcomer: Do you do Tapas? Landlord: Get out of my pub, you're barred. (Regulars mysteriously produce various farm implements and flaming torches and chase newcomer out of the pub)
5.
Nope never heard that rule, and you CAN shoot the white backwards too before you start! Are we nominating which pocket for the black?
No but you only get one shot on the black,no free shots carried over and if you foul on the black you forfeit the game.
6.
Oh ffs, I've put 50p on the edge of it, which as we know means it is now legally binding that I'm on next, loser racks up......
I can't see your name on the blackboard. We've been waiting an hour to get on....
7.
And then there's this. One of my all time favourite songs. http://youtu.be/LyMGEq82uL4
Also this, another heart breaker. http://youtu.be/Vgwp-iQenn4
8. And then there's this. One of my all time favourite songs. http://youtu.be/LyMGEq82uL4
9. Welcome to the club. My 2016 Deluxe Special is my new favourite bass.
10. I liked the intro but it sort of lost me when it went all 90s metal. No doubting the skill though.
11. Ultimate guilty pleasure, also made me a small fortune busking it in the early 90s. http://youtu.be/Oztkl0GKTng
12. Fender Custom shop relicing just seems like an excuse to slap another couple of grand on the price tag. I mean are the Dusty Hill signature or the Jaco Custom relics really £4k+ basses? As far as I can tell there's no fancy woods or electronics in either bass and the relicing must be done via some sort of template to get them all looking identical, so unless both models are being hand whittled from a single tree trunk I just can't see how they justify their price tags.
13.
Awsome!!
Yep. I had no idea he could play guitar. I was never that interested in Bruno Mars but since his last few singles and now this I'm beginning to be seriously impressed with him.
14.
She did actually say anti white comments in a music magazine in the late 90,s. Doesn't matter.
No probs
15.
an absolute soul classic now imo..the racist Lauryn Hill accompanying
OT but the Lauren Hill racism thing is a bit of an urban myth. http://www.snopes.com/politics/quotes/laurynhill.asp
16. There's a lot going on in Birmingham, also excellent transport links to Wolverhampton and Coventry which are also pretty decent.
17.
http://youtu.be/W3XrLf4v0uI
Hair metal blues, cheesy as cheese but I still love it.
18. Another demo here. http://youtu.be/AOVsCSdn6GA Amazing sounding thing, has an almost John Carpentery synth sound to it. It would definitely work on the soundtrack of Stranger Things.
19. It might be worth checking Thomann as their prices fluctuate quite a lot, pretty much on a daily basis, depending on the exchange rate. On big ticket items that can actually translate into quite significant variations. Of the shops you've listed I've only used Bax. Bought some Aquilar jazz pickups from there early last year, about £30 cheaper than I could find them anywhere else, everything went completely smoothly. Though posting pickups from the continent is obviously a bit simpler than sending a bass or amp.
20. Might be a tiny drop of chorus, it sounds to me like it's mainly reverb or a very short delay.
21. Here's another nice europop cover. http://youtu.be/QHpU0ZfXZ_g
22.
You do have to wonder whether Donald's executive orders will have an impact on Fender's Mexican operations?
I seem to recall the Mexican Fenders main market is outside the US. US fenders are significantly cheaper in America, as a rough guide they generally cost in dollars what we pay sterling, so the Mexican models are less appealing. There's also a bit of snobbery over Mexican made goods. Whilst a new sales tariff might on Mexican goods might have a limited impact on sales by making the instruments more expensive in US, I can't see how it would affect us in the rest of the world.
23. Play with your fingertips, by that I mean literally the very tips of your fingers. I used to hit the strings with the pads of my fingers, and, probably because I was also digging in a bit hard, used to get fatigued after about half an hour of fast playing. I changed my style to almost brushing the strings, rather than plucking them and now I reckon I'd be be good for a four hour bar gig in Milwaukee. You may experience a loss of volume, but let the amp take the strain.
