1.
The title track has dropped on YouTube http://youtu.be/rmlmOk4ubcU
The best thing about that is the hat. Maybe it's a grower, but the krautrock influence is killing the funk for me.
 2. Anyone mentioned Larry Graham yet? http://youtu.be/Z1IuD6F3R5I
 3. Excellent taste sir. I'm particularly loving the neck on mine, it's one of the most comfortable I've ever played. Good luck with the gig, let us know how you get on.
 4. Like it or loathe it a lot of players do slap, and not all basses are well suited to it, so if a manufacturer wants to appeal to the widest potential market it's worth them demonstrating how the technique sounds on their product.
 5.
I think they supported AC/DC.
I think you may well be right, possibly on the Razor's Edge tour?
 6. This an awesome song. http://youtu.be/J2SYPzKzD94
 7. I saw Kings X supporting someone else (I can't remember who but Megadeth, AC/DC or Alice Cooper would be the prime candidates) at the NEC in Birmingham back in the early 90s. They were superb, although they suffered from the usual low turnout for support acts at arena gigs.
 8.
I could take you to parts of Millwaukee that is still pretty much like Happy Days. Blue
9. Blue, you've once again shattered my illusions. I've always thought that the music scene in Milwaukee was something like this http://youtu.be/CpQhtsa0JrI Or maybe a bit like this http://youtu.be/kUNtgbEGQgw And if all else fails.. http://youtu.be/drOeLwEZeM4
 10.
but where did he come from and where did he go?
11.
Oh no, it's obviously too late for you, were you married a long time ago by any chance?
Would have been, if it wasn't for that bastard...
 12.
I feel really bad now, if my post made you search through all the different versions then I am partly to blame for your suffering, no apology could suffice. I hope no long term damage has occurred. If you start twitching and lifting your leg randomly whilst holding your belt loops you will know it's got to you.
Yeeha!
 13. This has to be a contender. Rod Stewart fans look away now... http://youtu.be/Z6aVZDzeHnw
 14. I came very close to getting the 4 string version when I was looking for a PJ at the start of the year, before I decided to go for the Fender Deluxe P instead. It's a very nice bass indeed.
 15.
It is even worse, it seems to be relying on the crowd looking at the girls and ignoring the utter pap being played. Very sad.
Fair enough. It was the best traditional version of the song I could find on YouTube. The others all seem to be instrumentals or dodgy recordings of scratchy old vinyl.
 16.
Cotton eye joe would take some bearing. Again it's a novelty record and I defended star trekkin earlier but there is no justification for cotton eye joe.
Which version? While I agree that this one is pretty awful http://youtu.be/VcDy8HEg1QY There's a certain energy about this version. http://youtu.be/IZvpHwoQfqk
 17. Tricky one there's just so much irritating stuff out there. However I'd like to offer two up for consideration: http://youtu.be/YiunXTVBOe0 And http://youtu.be/MWKchS0GAyo Interestingly both artists are X Factor successes, both songs went to number 1 in the UK charts, before both songs effectively signaled the end of the commercial success of the artists involved. My theory? Marketing and PR will get you only so far before the public realises that your product is sh*te.
 18.
Queen - A Day at the Races - first stage of their descent into dreadful crappery Queen - News of the World - see above Queen - Jazz - see above Queen - The Game - see above A trend may be emerging here.
They did rebound though albeit relatively briefly. Queen - Flash -One of the best soundtracks ever. Queen - The Works Queen - A Kind of Magic
 19.
>I think I remember the Bass Place , just up the road from Musical Exchanges, maybe in the railway arches? Nah, it was in a different part of town - here's a streetview (the 'Fair Well' shop IIRC) Heh, far enough away from Snow Hill station to rag having to carry my new Aria Pro SLB2A along with a little 30W Laney a mate helped me with...
Fair enough my memory must be playing tricks on me. I was sure there was a specialist bass shop less than 5 minutes walk from Musical Exchanges in the early 90s.
 20. I think I remember the Bass Place , just up the road from Musical Exchanges, maybe in the railway arches? I tried out a split headstock Kramer there once, through a Trace Elliot rig (sign of the times). Great as the the shop was they just couldn't compete with the Aladdin's Cave that was Musical Exchanges. The Bass Centre would have been a brilliant shop if it hadn't had to compete with Musical Exchanges, which at that time used to advertise itself as the biggest guitar shop in Europe and stocked just about everything. Once you factor in the enormous selection of second hand stuff, then they actually had everything a spotty teenager ever read about in guitar mags.
 21.
Just got my first P Bass. It's amazing but I'll save all that for the NBD post when the custom pickguard arrives. Question I have for you P players is where do you tend to pluck? On a J I was always used to plucking right between the pickups which worked well cause i rested my thumb on the neck pup. I looked at my favourite P player, Pino, and he plucks right over the pickup but it feels strange to me hitting the pickup with my fingers. Is that where it's generally plucked?
It's all down to personal comfort of course, but I'd say if your fingertips are hitting the pickups, either the pickup is too high or you're digging too deep.
 22. Lovely looking thing, very Dee Dee Ramone, which is a very good thing by the way.
