  1. Ive settled down with mine. I use my CV P with CV Jazz neck for all my gigs now, and other than the horrible colour its become one of the most played basses ive ever had. There really isnt much to talk about now as i dont intend to change any more parts, i'm not having any problems with it and it plays like a dream. The only thin i have thought about is getting it resprayed, probably black, but as it plays so well i can live with the colour for now. I would love a Matt Freeman as i prefer black, and i really want a maple necked P but as im still not 100% comfortable on a P neck i cant see me getting one just yet. My one regret is the amount i've wasted on other, "better" basses over the past 5-6 years.

Bloody frustrating.

I have always used gig bags, and my main one is an almost unpadded old Levys gig bag. Its been on the parcel shelf of various cars, laying across the drum kit on the back seat etc and i have never found my bass (around 8-9 in total) to be randomly out of tune when ive arrived at the gig. The worst i have had is the G on a 4 in a line head stock going slightly out, less than a tone though. i do always check my tuning but vary rarely nee dto adjust it. I do still play randomly out of tune though, and do blame the bass.

Im not sure what to make of this. Personally i dont think its great news that you have to settle for something you didn't intend to purchase in the first place. I can understand why its happening, and of course no reflection on Darren, but it seems to me that due to the poor QC, and lack of any real help from the workshop the bass was sent to you are settling for second best. Just my thoughts.

I've played a few Cancer research gigs and the atmosphere has always been fantastic.
  8. In my case none. I would let them burn and claim on the insurance. Then i would probably go and by a SBMM ray34 Classic. I would grab all my camera stuff, and if i had time, the kids ;-) Just saying.

Its not for everyone, and yes, its basswood but if that was such a bad thing why are there so many happy CV owners out there? It should of course have B. Foxton on the headstock ;-)
  12. A lot of CV owners do change the pickups. I dont think there is anything wrong with the Squier pup but i have changed the one in mine (twice) because i wanted a different tone.

This has vintage style frets so they are smaller than the usual ones used by most manufactures.
  14. Ive been using my 1212L on its side for a while now. Having the upper, angled driver pointing at my head means i can always hear myself very clearly. Plus it makes my rig look a bit more manly.

  17. I do worry about my amp packing up but as i have a BDDI, and a DI out from my radio receiver i hope one of these will be enough to get me through the gig by going through the PA. I normally DI out of my amp in to our small PA, just for a bit more spread but its a very quick change over to plug in to the Radio receiver mid song if i had to, and then set the BDDI at the next break. Fingers crossed i'll never need to use this backup plan.
  18. Pete. I'll make this very quick as I'm about to out, I'll follow this up when I get back. First off thanks for the help. The only cab I have at the moment is my 4 ohms 1212L. I do also have a 4 ohms 1210R but I don't use it and as soon as I vet it back from my drummer I'll probably sell it. Eithe way at the moment I can only use one cab with the amp. Your right though, after a few gigs lol probably settle down a bit. 500 watts has always been enough, I think it's more the change of tone rather than volume that's thrown me. Saying that, I do still want a 900 but it's not a major concern. If I can get a good deal on a upgrade then I wil. I'll be back later. By the way, all my posts over the weekend have been from my iPod touch. It's been a struggle trying to get all this typed so so some of my posts have been cut short.

I could then add another cab if and when. With my 600 I'm stuck at 600 watts with the cab I have. If I want to try a other cab out, and i would prefer to get a 8 ohms for the reasons above, I won't be able to use the one I have with it so I would only have around 375 watts. That would be a step backwards.

See my last few posts above ;-) At the moment I'm limited to what cab I can use as it's a 4ohm. If I got a 900 I could start experimenting with other cabs, maybe even use two if I can get them in the car.

[/quote] The way I figure it is if I reduce the input to the tube and turn off the boost I'll get a cleaner tone but by doing this I will also need to up the master to compensate. I'm assuming I might need to push the master quite high to achieve the same volume, but cleaner. Again, this is all based on the one gig so I might be jumping the gun a bit.
  24. I understand about too much volume can damage the speakers but the way I'm seeing it is I want to be a le to reduce the input stage and have the gain button out, without loosing volume. I think to do this I need to turn the output up quite high to match the level with the button in and gain up at about 11 o'clock if that makes sence. The gigs I do would never require me to turn up enough to damage the cab. At least using a lower powered version gives me the chance to use the 3D power management feature. The DI out is pre or post EQ and it's the gain and pre knobs that seems to determine the output level through the DI. I was running it post though and will try pre next time but as it's a vocal PA and im just going through it for a bt more spread I normally go post on my SA450 to get a better tone. I tried everything flat onthe 600 but it still clipped the input (both mic and line level).
