  1. I used mine when i was in a band that did a lot of Motown/60’s stuff. It didn’t change the tone as much as it made the bass a bit more vintage like. I should add I’ve also used the BDDI and VTBass DI to do the same thing. There are many options in all price brackets. Even the joyo stuff has cheap options.
  2. I was going to (and BDDI), but i think those things change the sound more rather than just adding warmth. I guess it depends on why the OP is looking for. A warm sound, or a warmer version of his sound. Sansamp stuff certaily does the first, and ive used one for about 20+ years, but its not the same to my ears as warming up whats already there.
  3. And another vote for the TCE Spark Booster. I find its very transparent so doesnt change the tone too much, just adds a bit more depth.
  4. Ive been using the new-ish Xvive A58's recently and love them. Got fed up with the size of my Lekato's, and they dont seem to be screen very well (at all even). The A58 also have a user replaceable battery in them, so should last quite a long time.
  5. Delrin is also my preferred material.
  6. Definitely white for me. It's going on my white desk.
  7. Also mostly recorded direct to a DAW via the Headphone out, which sort of bypasses all the stuff we would be interested in hearing 🙄. Still going to get one, but im not one to pre order, as i wouldn't get any sleep while im waiting for it to arrive lol.
  8. Ive always used a pick. Not proud of it, it's a habit I can't get out of. After 30+ years ive settled on using 1.52mm most of the time. Those EB large shield ones seem to work for me as they are quite grippy. I do very occasionally use a felt or leather pick, but only for certain songs. Always struggled with tone though. A BDDI went a long way for a couple of decades, but just recently I got an EBS Microbass 3 (and a Nux preamp). Both have sweepable mids and both have been a real eyeopener. I think in someways the BDDI was working as it was reducing some of the attack, but now I realise I was losing too much of the basses natural tone as well.
  9. Ive got a Rumble 25, had it for a few years, probably used it 5 times. It's a lovely combo but I just cant be bothered getting it out to play once every now and then. I think the Joyo is small enough to sit on the or under my desk for when I do fancy a blast.
  10. This look quite cool. I do all my home playing using headphones, but I quite fancy this to noodle on when the family are out. https://www.thomann.co.uk/joyo_ba_30_micro_bass_amp_white.htm?srsltid=AfmBOorOmjq8Tw1bwMWrWG4EeWgiHubdmTQVKqi-ubA5aP97cv6qPGGBrY4
  11. Haha. to be fair they were black, I was playing keys so stuck at the back, and it was a Walkabout pub where you aren't even allowed in if you're sober
  12. I posed about this in another thread, but I once turned up to a gig with the wrong bass. It was one I had swapped pups out with and had just put the pups from the other bass in to this bass as a place to store them. The whole bass needed wring with gaffer tape at the gig.
  13. I still have nightmares about the time I gigged in lycra cycle shorts. WTF was I thinking 😂
  14. Thanks for the replies. Budget can be upped if needed, but to be honest i cant imagine anything better than the Blood Moon i already have. It works of battery if needed, has 3 knobs and from what i can remember its deeper and more lush than anything i got out of the TCE Helix or previous Phasers. Im just using it for a gentle bit of movement on a few songs so dont need anything with loads of features.
  15. I just remembered i still have a couple of Zoom multi FX. I guess i might give those a go. I can then program in a volume change.
  16. Yeah, just a bit lol.
  17. Thanks. Ive had the Source Audio stuff in the past but never really gelled with them. Too many options, and quite expensive.
  18. No question they have their uses, but a few years ago we were all convinced we HAD to get one to hear a big improvement. Many found they had no need for one.
  19. I recently got a Blood moon from TC Electronics and love it, but there is an increase in volume when engaged. Can anyone recommend one that has a level control at a below £100 price point? Ive had a TCE Helix before and liked that, can't remember if that would do the trick or not. I just want one that I can set the output level on when it's engaged. Thanks.
  20. Assuming you had an audible issue with handling noise and thump in the first place. This was the issue I didnt have, but was convinced I did.
  21. Ive never felt that either, but I do get caught up in the hype sometimes, especialy if it's something I feel could benefit me. HPF's definitely one of them. There have been times where im just reading posts and see a throw away comment of something and it just clicks, I have to get one. Sometimes it works out, sometimes not.
  22. A few more. Sadowsky DI. Does it actually do anything? Had it and quickly sold it after finding out it was pants. I read so much about how among it is, maybe mine was broken 🤔 KZ IEM's. Didnt like the sound, didnt like the fit. More drivers the better also seems to be a myth.
  23. Yeah, those two in the Nux work really well. The Nux is the first time ive been happy with using IR's. I only want the IR for home use, but I have used it with a rig and it sounded great.
  24. Funny enough I got the SGT-DI to replace the Nux, but after 30mins I decided it wasn't for me. I had a noise issue with my wireless system and at the time put it down to the SGT-DI being faulty (its wasn't), but also wasn't too keen on the tone. The Nux was almost perfect for me, but I wanted more control over the drive side. IT works well but its a blend and its a bit tricky getting the drive to not increase the overall level by much when engaged. I got the MB3 on a whim, it's not one id thought of before, but ive been very happy with it. No noise issue at all for me, and I do all my home practising with headphones at home so would notice it. I still think for home/headphone use the Nux is better for me, as it has the IR's, so that's when I use it. It's small so sits on my desk. Id be happy to use the MB3 for this as well though. I thought the MB3 looked quite boring before getting it, im used to using a BDDI which is quite coloured, but with the Nux and MB3 I can finally hear my bass properly. The MB3 isn't clean to my ears, it's still got a bit of roughness to the clean channel although that might be the bass. Ether way, very pleased with it.
  25. Anyone remember the Sue Ryder bass frenzy years ago? That was BC hype in full swing 🤣
