1. Ive also got Wizards (74's) in my CV Jazz and love them. They do change the character of the bass, it now sounds more thumpy but without loosing the growl. Shame this thread started after i put my Wizards back in other wise i would have let the OP borrow them for a while. They wont be coming back out now
 2. OMG, its true. They also have the Matt Freeman. Thats settled it. My next Bass And it seems they are doing it in white as well as black. EDIT: Assuming it has vintage style frets though. The short scale Jags have also been anounced, including one in silver.
 3. I got a new credit card today. 0% for 6 months. Hmmm.
 4.
so was this on the fiesta red CV Squier? how did you think the pickups compared to the originals?
It was. The I only did one gig with the stock pickup, and to be honest it sounded fine, but the Thumper has a lot more punch to it. It seems quite heavy in the low mids and has a darker overal tone. I've been happy with it but now ive got the Fender in i think its a bit more open sounding and pretty close to the original pup.
 5.
Nice one dave_bass5, mine started off like yours and after many mods ended up looking like this:
Thanks Fran. I followed your thread and i love the look of your Squier. In fact it was you who told me where to get the pickguard. That neck really sets it apart from the others. I think that PG goes really well with the maple neck. @mcnach. I got the PG from here Axesrus
 6. Here mine with its new PG on. I much prefer the overall look of the bass now.
 7. Ha, beat you to it GK app Ive still to take the plunge and get another iRig. I had one before (with the Amplitube app) and i was very disappointed with it. I sold it about 30 mins after getting it. Apparently the GK one is much better.
 8. It "seems" like the Butterscotch bass is now availible. There are a couple of guys on TB that have them on the way, and it was showing as available to buy on Guitarcentre.com (USA site) this morning, but its now out of stock.
 9. Welcome to the club. Both my CV's came from Soundslive and both we very playable straight out fo the box, but of course i had to mess with it, it wouldn't be a new bass without a tinkle. Ive just put a black pickguard on mine and i much prefer the look of it now. Ive never really liked the Fiesta red and tort but stuck with the bass as its such a great player. Now its almost perfect.
 10.
Can you not just fit a Thumper pup in the original Fender casings?
Not without filing the plate that holds the coil down. This was the first thing i tried.
 11. Right'o, a quick update as ive now sorted it out. Ive now replaced the Thumper with a Fender 62 Original pickup and it fits perfectly. Ive looked at a few other pups and they are also slightly smaller than the Thumper. I know Andy said the case was Fender size (and im sure thats what he thought) but its definitely bigger than the Stock pup, all the Symour Duncans ive looked at, and the Fender i now have in the bass. No big deal, i think i might prefer the Fender pup, at least for now. I now need to get another PG as the one i have is looking a bit manky around the cut outs.
 12. Do you know roughly how old the head is? Is it still covered by a warranty? Cheers.
 13.
Well if you can stand Matt Freeman's signature on the headstock - it's happening
Fantastic. I dont really know Matt Freeman but as long as its close to a standard P with vintage frets i'll get one. I guess it makes sense if its based on a 77 P. That would mean there is a CV P for each decade. Ive already got the Fender bridge for it and i guess ill drop the Wizard Thumper in it. I had a MIM Classic Jazz for a few hours last year and didnt like the neck. Very chunky.
 14.
Only seen a small pic, but it looks great. Having said that, I am partial to a black/black/maple p-bass. I think it's going to be more like a CV than a VM with the high mass bridge and gloss neck. Probably going to be around £400 though.
If Squier brought out a Black/black/maple CV P i would definitely buy one. Ive not played a VM but im sticking with the CV's due to the vintage frets.
 15. All this fuss over a Squier Yeah, ill probably get one as well.
 16.
You could pick up a s/h TC Classic around that ballpark £, and for rock tones, I'd rate the Classic/RH450 above the MB stuff. The Tubetone works really really well - even better to my ears than the actual tube in the Shuttle stuff. Ticks all the other boxes re. small, light and LOUD.
No experience myself with the TC but from what ive read i would also suggest the Classic. In fact im hoping to replace my MB SA450 with one when i can sort it all out.
 17.
I'm planning on changing the bridge on my Fender P. I looked at the Badass, but frankly they are too expensive and quite difficult to source at the moment, so I have decided on a Gotoh bridge. I'm a little confused however! What is the difference, if any, between the 201 and the 203?
Old Horse Murphy is selling a USA Fender High mass bridge in the classifieds. These are really nice bridges and if i didnt already have a Gotoh 201 i would snap this up. For what its worth ive gone form a Squier HM bridge to a Fender vintage bridge and settled on a Gotoh 201 on my Squier CV P and didnt really notice any tonal difference but that could just be down to my rig. I've used BAII bridges in the past but i do think they are a bit over priced. You could also try the Wilkinson bridges, they do similar versions for around £15 Wilkinson bass bridges
 18.
nothing here.. http://www.squierguitars.com/news/
Nope, its not been announced yet.
 19.
If any of the music shops available to me had anywhere near the level of customer support that Thomann offers, then I'd have no problem keeping things local. I've even gone as far as having basses made locally to support business here. But when you're dealing with staff that won't order flatwound strings because 'they're crap and no-one likes them' even though you're standing there requesting them.... well, all of a sudden that £10 shipping charge and online buying seem pretty unbeatable.
If it wasnt for Thomanns i wouldn't have had 2 Lakland Duck Dunns or a Fender 2008 P5 in the past. No one store over here (not even the Gallery) had a Duck Dunn at the time of my first one, and when i tried to order a Fender P5 from 2 stores that were advertising them on their websites i was told they were a special order and i wouldn't be able to send it back if i didnt like it, even though they didnt have them in stock and so i couldn't try one. Thomanns told me (via a call to them) "if i wasnt 100% happy please send it back as they value their customers and only want them to be happy". Ive also had to use Thomanns last week to order a Fender pickup as no one over here had stock, other than one place who wanted £95 for it. Thomanns might be undercutting the small shops but they got where they are for a reason IMO. Its no wonder they are popular with service like this.
 20.
Their prices have gone up some because they get moaned at by manufacturers who get moaned at by UK dists. It's fair though.
I remember when they first started advertising over here, there was uproar but i felt it gave our market a kick up the backside. No longer were we held to ransom by over priced music stores.
 21.
so the prices they can offer are below most UK retailers because they pay far less than retailers do. I know it's business etc, but it's not fair on UK retailers that they get undercut so badly and they'd be forced to make a loss to compete. The problem is that they have such a part of the market (because of the prices) that manufacturers can't afford to not sell to them because they're bringing so much business.
I dont think they are that much cheaper any more. In the past they were but judging by a few basses ive looked at in the past few weeks Thomanns have been dearer than, say, Soundslive.
 22.
Gotta say, if Thomann were to open up a UK operation and keep those sort of standards up then there'd be a lot of very worried UK online retailers trying to raise their game...
There was a thread on here discussing this. Apparently Thomann's were doing this but ive not heard any news on it yet. This must have been at least a year or so ago 9probably longer) so it probably didn't happen. EDIT: Here it is Thomann's in the UK thread
 23. I know this is an old thread but i just wanted to post about Thomanns CS. We brought a LED light off them end of Jan this year. It cost £45 inc postage. It seems to have developed a fault so i emailed them yesterday to see what can be done. As its outside the 30 days send it back period we were going to weigh up the pros and cons of having to send it to Germany. I got a email this morning form Thomanns saying they are trying out a new returns system and would i like to participate in it. The email also contained a PDF with a prepaid label and all i need to do is pack it up and take it to the post office. I must say thats pretty good service. I think the total postage (both ways, twice) must come close to the cost of the light.
 24. Jerry, im not going to sell the neck as this would leave me without a working bass.
 25.
Hate to rain on everyones parade but the text of that add states that its a LPB so I suspect thats a mockup!
I think its obvious that the text isn'tisnt talking about this specificific bass so you could be right, but there has been a lot of talk about this on TB and apparently Musicians friend might also have put this pictureprematurelyerly as they have done it before. Time will tell.
