1. Ive a lot to catch up on as ive been away but just a few points, IMO of course. Crap equipment. Well, other than very, very cheap gear (i agreed with John about the SR basses) who's to say whats crap and what's not? IME the GK head i owned was crap, as was the Epifani UL212. Neither cheap but both pieces of gear that i wouldn't touch again. Ive loved a MAG C-115 deep cab and that cost me £85. I hated a MB 151P traveller and that cost close to £500. So, i think the use of the word crap is a bit meaningless unless you state why its crap, and of course this might only be your opinion so it doesn't really make it crap, just that one person thinks its crap. I totally agree that it all starts from the bass but IME its the whole chain that gives us our tone. Most heads ive owned have sounded very different, so the amp plays a big part for me, as does the cab. Ive used different cabs with my old set up and had different tones, and no amount of EQ was ever going to balance the differences out. I do agree that if your using use amounts of EQ then something isnt right, but look at how most users use MB heads. Almost every post ive ever read states the owner has the EQ pretty much flat so there must be sometihng the MB heads have going for them.
 2. Can you tell me what the preamp is, and what the knobs do? Ive had 3 DD's and these are fantastic basses. Im selling my amp today and am very tempted by this. I would need posting though as im in central london with no transport and a full time job. Saying that, im sure i could get a train out to you if its feasible. I expect this will sell very quickly.
 3. While I've never tried their tube heads I do have ther studio 1 amp simulator. This has a T501 head and one of the other tube heads and I really can't hear any tube effect. Maybe this isn't a true indication of how they sound but I really don't see the point of the tube in these heads.
 4.
I am looking for a white rack unit to put my head in,
Sorry, that made me fall off my chair laughing. Good luck finding one.
 5. Thansk for the info Russ. Probably too far out for me at the moment but good luck with the sale.
 6.
I haven't heard 64's in the flesh but they're modelled on the pickups from that era, and so are probably the most mellow sounding of the Wizard offerings.
Thats what i thought as well.
 7.
1 head and 1 cab for 18 months, not even thought about changing
.....yet
 8. Well i had the same rig for about 4 years, and only recently got caught up in all the Streamliner talk. This helped me realise i was getting a bit tired of MB heads, or at least i thought i was, but as you know, here i am again, singing the praises of MB, albeit a different MB head than i had 7 weeks ago, and i couldn't be happier. What i have found recently is no matter how happy i am with my rig, a certain venue can destroy that. Ive had fantastic gigs with my Streamliner, and terrible ones. After all this i now realise im at the mercy of the venues so what i use isnt really a issue, so no need to keep changing it after every crappy gig. I was all set on getting a BF compact to replace my 1212L but after so many good gigs with this cab i see no reason to spend more money and will be keeping it for a while longer. MB/Schroeder are a match made in heaven. If money was no object i expect i would try more rigs out but i also expect ill still have gigs where i sound (to me) terrible. Seems to be a lot of MarkBass love going around on here at the moment. Thats a lovely thing to see and im glad im still in the club.
 9.
Any idea what the 64s would sound like?
No sorry. I do know there are guys on here that have used 64's in a CV Jazz but i wasnt really looking for a vintage tone, more a modern punchy tone so i was put off by the description.
 10.
Dammit. Now I'm back to thinking about swapping my shuttle for an F1 (if I can)
What a hopeless bunch we are
 11.
I guess they're somewhere between 84's and 64's? To be honest, the 84's are a little bit too aggressive at times for some of the stuff I play. How do the 74's compare in your experience Dave?
Your right, they were a bit too aggressive in the low mids for me. The 74's are a bit more open, a bit more up top but still with the punch of the 84's. The Bass is quite warm sounding IMO. Warmer than any other Jazz bass ive owned. I dont really like its tone as much as Jazz basses ive had in the past but i keep it because i have its neck on my CV P, plus its nice having one of each.
 12. Ive got Wizards in mine and they make a nice improvement IMO. I had 84's but now have 74's and the bass sounds nice and warm, round and punches through the mix very nicely.
 13.
Lol not long sold my F1...
Im loving mine :-)
 14. In the Jan issue they tested the MarkBass F500 and found it to be pretty close to the advertised spec.
 15.
Of course, the next post will be to point out that that the Streamliner employs similar management technology to the TC, and I'm going to look stupid. Whatever the reason, the TC just sounded odd to me. That said, plenty of other people who heard it thought it was great.
Well....... Im not technical enough to understand all the specs etc but i have been thinking this all along. Ive had the overload LED on my Streamliner 600 come on a few times, and im not playing particularly loud. Im wondering if to get the max out of this head you do need to push it hard, and then yes, all that 3D stuff kicks in and limits the low end. Then again, im probably going to look stupid for posting this.
 16.
+ 1 Dave. Id be tempted to ask for a brand new cabinet. Its a lot of fuss over a new product. I can imagine its frustrating.
For me its the extra hassle involved, and the fact that a cab is, or might be needed during the time its away. I do understand the OP's position though, and if he is happy with whats going down then thats what counts. Im sure its no big deal if the cab isn't fixed asap anyway so maybe the OP could arrange for it to be sent away later on in the year. Im sure Alex would be cool with that.
 17.
If its been set up for BEAD it will almost certainly need a new nut fitting for standard EADG tuning!
Ah ok, thanks. Thats me out then. While im sure it "might" be ok its not something ill take a gamble on at this stage.
 18. And your location is........? Can you fill in the info in your profile, especially as you want a local pickup. Cheers and yes, possibly interested (i had one in black last year and also sold mine due to the neck width) but i have a feeling you aren't just around the corner.
 19. Do you know if the slightly wider E string slot in the nut will have any effect on, say a .105 string? Im tempted but not sure about that nut slot.
 20. I dont feel comfortable with all this. If i brought a new cab and it didnt work (again) i would insist on a new one that did, or a refund. If the cab has to travel to London, sit in a workshop and then travel back who knows how long that will take and what damage it might receive (not at the Gallery of course). I would expect at least a loaner cab while it was away.
 21.
Just to reiterate, these really are very good basses. Don't let the fact it's a Squier put you off, mine is a perfect weight and balance, absolutely sings, is really well put together. At this price what's not to like?
Its a lovely bass. While not as flash as some higher end basses these (based on my CV's) are good solid workable basses. Having owned 3 Lakland Duck Dunn's in the past my CV P is every bit as playable, has no build defects and sounds like a P bass. Why pay more?
 22.
but it will still be all Epi rather than part Maplin...
Both probably come form the same factory in china ;-) I do understand though. When i had my UL212 i ended up having to plug most of the handle screw holes and replaced both drivers (it went from a series I to a series II), all within the first month or so of owning it. It was a brand new cab but just didn't feel like it after i had done that work.
I’m glad the problem has been identified. Talk to Alex. He might be able to come up with a solution which means you don't have to drive 400 miles.
Yeah, if Epifani are footing the bill im sure there will be no need to drive anywhere.
 23.
Checked it over with a jack-jack last night and there's definately a faulty speakon. Had very speedy email response from Nick Epifani, he's sending over some replacement speakon connectors to the Gallery who'll do the repair and Epifani will pick up the tab... Just need to work out how to get it from Sheffield to London and back before my next practice...
Glad you got it sorted. I did tell you they look ok on the outside didnt I ;-). So your going to be without your cab for a while eh? Thats not good and i would insist on a fully working replacement cab being sent out to you and the old one picked up at the same time, at no expense to yourself. I dont think its the end of the world that one connector isnt working, its still working if you need it but i would be more hacked off if i didnt have it when i needed it. Do they really need to send connectors all the way from the USA? Cant they be sourced locally today? I wonder how many other people have this issue without knowing it. It unbelievable that its not just your cab but others sitting in a shop wait to be sold. So much for going boutique.
 24. LOL, loads of owners and talk about them on here. Totally agree with you, fantastic basses. Ive sold off all my more costly basses and now just have two CV's........for now ;-)
 25.
I didn't know it was banned and I've used that method a few times - which direction do you mean?
Same here. Ive used gift a few times at the sellers insistence on here. I know about the lack of insurance but didnt know it was banned.
