1.
RE notifications. I tend to keep track of my threads using the new and improved 'new content' area, where I can select 'threads I started' or 'Threads I participated in' and go to first unread post as normal. Notifications I have for email and if I'm quoted, and sometimes I'll turn them on if I post something which isn;t likely to have 19 pages of replies, like a random thread asking for help notating a track. Once you tailor it to your needs it's really useful. Can I suggest turning them off altogether and looking at 'new content' area instead for now, as that's a good place to start. Cheers
If this one email per visit issue cant be fixed it might be an idea to change the notification emails so people wont be confused and waste time trying to set it up. speed is good today, well done team.
 2. I thought we had gone over that last option year. Glad it finally worked out. I still have my faulty Neo driver with the dodgy dust cap. Im keeping it as a spare but cant actually see me needing it.
 3.
now how the Heck do you edit the top line to say "ON HOLD" ? grrr
Lovely bass. If you use the full editor you can change the thread title.
 4. For what its worth i have both a Thumper and Fender 62RI (original) and they both sound very similar to my ears. Both very good pups.
 5.
Me too. Adding a little message to the header at the top of the page ('The site is currently running slowly - please bear with us') would help spread the word and ease frustration, I think...
And help keep the notifications at bay.
 6. Very slow for me as well but i understand why.
 7. @Cygnus x-1. I replaced them with a Gotoh 201 on the P and a Fender vintage on the Jazz. I started off with getting the Gallery to install the Vintage on the P as i too had heard that the holes were non standard. The reason for changing the bridges was i too dont like 20mm string spacing. 18mm is ideal but 19mm i can live with. The bass felt a bit nicer to play once i had the new bridge on but I do like HM bridges, and a Gotoh came up for sale on here shortly after i got the bass back. Knowing i now had standard hole spacing the Gotoh went on without any problems. A few months ago i thought i would take the Jazz bridge off and see if it was possible to line the holes up. To my surprise the Fender bridge went on without any problems as well. Thinking back to when i put the Gotoh on the P i remember thinking what a great job the Galley had done filling and re drilling the new holes, now i realise they didnt need to drill at all. @Fran. It was just the string spacing i didnt get on with. No problems with the bridge as such. Ive kept the bridges in case i sell the basses as i would prefer to keep the Gotoh (depending on what bass i get of course) and like you say, the HM bridges are a good selling point so someone might not want the Fender bridge.
 8.
If it's Jedward, smoke a J.
If its Jedward take the heaviest bass you have ;-)
 9.
how can I edit the title of a post? eg: when a bass is sold or the conditions have changed. I cant seem to find a way of editing the 'title' as the 'edit option' seems to only allow change to the content. please advise...thanks
You need to use the Full editor. That should (used to) let you edit the title.
 10.
Hi guys, The time has come to make a few minor adjustments to the saddle height on my Squier CV Jazz Bass - however I don't have the correct allen key and will have to order one. Does anyone know what size key (metric or imperial) fits the saddle adjustment on the Classic Vibe Hi-Mass bridge? I have sent an email to Squier but can't imagine they'll reply in a hurry, so thought someone on here might have the answer. Many thanks in advance, Danny
Did you get hold of one? If not you can borrow one of mine. I have two CV's but neither have the HM bridge on them any more so i dont really need the Allen keys unless i sell the bridges.
 11. This is a lovely cab. I almost got one (or in blue) but bottled out and got black instead. The covers are pretty good as well, very well padded.
 12.
hi buddy if you measure the exact gap I will knock you up some aluminium shims. I used similar ones to mate a 70s p bass body and a mighty mite neck a few months back and they work a treat. I will make the shims for free if you pay the postage.
Wow, thanks very much. Once the neck arrives and i get an idea of the gap ill see if i can sort it myself but if not ill get in touch. cheers. @Mr F. Thats another good option, thanks.
 13. I think part of the email problem is that this thread is moving very fast so we are getting a lot more notifications than from a normal slow moving thread. Still not ideal though.
 14.
EDIT: Great minds and all that, Dave.
Indeed. Here's a funny thing. I have this page open in both FF6 and IE9 under W7 and IE8 under XP pro. The IE8 and IE9 page's have the Follow topic button in the right place (ie on the right hand side). They also have a "Go to first unread post" hyper link next to the Reply to this topic button. No such option is showing in FF6. Something to get ironed out i think, EDIT: Now the Go to link is showing in FF6.
 15.
A nice full inbox to wake up to this morning.
I turn notifications off when i went to bed. I knew what i would find if i didnt. Just as well this thread slowed down over night.
 16.
I don't think so, no. Someone mentioned about reducing the size using Ctrl+ something if you are really determined.
Yeah, you can use Ctrl++ or +- to zoom in and out of the pages but its not ideal.
 17.
OK. I really like it, myself - there's little we can do to change it I'm afraid.
Its no biggie, something im sure we will all get used to. I think it all looks less cluttered and clearer, its just i seem to be scrolling the page a bit more than i used to. Some forums have skins that allow you to change the font size, i guess we dont have that option.
 18. Cheers Fran. It wasnt something i had thought out properly when i brought it. After seeing your old CVP with the maple neck ive been after the same. If i had gone the MM route i would still need tuners and to pay someone to drill the holes so work would be needed either way. When i saw it was a Lakland i just had to have it. To be honest i would rather get a new body than get rid of the neck but as money is tight i might just see how it goes on the CVP. If the gap isnt too big i think it will be fine once padded out.
 19. Now im back at work on a normal size 4:3 monitor i must admit i dont like the layout. Everything just seems a little too big and too much wasted space. Im sure ill get used to it though.
 20.
Nope, just that you won;t have the email box ticked by default. You can still tick whatever you like.
So this is sounding like its all or nothing. This isn't what it says in the notification email. Is it possible to get the one per visit back?
 21.
Should be sorted now, I have turned email notification by default off for everything except PMs. ped
Does this mean we wont get any notification until we log back in to this site?
 22.
Also looks like the adverts are displayed in the wrong place - perhaps a monitor/resolution issue?
Ped. I think it might be browser related. In IE9 the Follow button is on the right, using compatability mode its on the left and looks like the IE8 screen shots. Just saying.
 23.
Doh ..... the button IS there in IE8 for me ... I just forgot to log in on IE8. Sorry for confusing the issue ....
Funny enough ive just noticed it on the left hand side using IE9 in Compatability mode. Ou7shined, have you looked on the left hand side? Its just above the OP's avatar/thread title on my PC.
 24.
I've got the same result. In IE8 (windows XP) the button is missing. Get yourself a decent browser, download chrome
Ive just managed to recreate this by switching IE9 to compatibility mode so it does seem like its not fully compatible with IE8. On the upside ive got my Force Spell check option back so im going to keep it set like this. One step forward, one step back. i do like the fact that finally we can read what's been posted from the email notifications.
 25.
???
Now that is strange. I have IE8 at work, ill try it tomorrow unless someone comes up with the answer.
