Funny thing happened last night. I was going through my bag of bits and found my Wizard Thumper. So this means for the past few months ive had a Fender 62RI in my Squier and not the Thumper lol. I remember putting the Fender in but thought i had taken it out. I must be getting old. Guess ill have to get the soldering iron out at some point and swap them back, see how the Thumper compares.

I've swapped the necks over on both my Squiers and tend to use the P with Jazz neck on it all the time now. The only reason i keep the P neck on the Jazz is to try and get used to playing one at home, but as its on a Jazz i dont tend to use it much as i prefer the P tone. I've also had 2 Lakland Duck Dunns, and I also converted my Lakland DJ5 in to a PJ but never really liked the tone i got from that bass. My ideal bass would be a Jazz body, P pup i the correct place and a Jazz neck with vintage frets.

This sounds promising. Good luck organising it all, lets hope it pans out. I'd love to come along and practice my gig photography so as long as im not gigging ill be there.

Yeah, i guess there is only so much rain people can tolerate before getting fed up with it. None of the bands shown on Sky were really my cup of tea but i did enjoy the Script, and i thought Plan B were (was?) funny, especially the at the end of Stay too long. I doubt that would have worked without the rain.

I admire anyone who braved that weather, especially down the front with no escape.

I wasn't intending to sit through the whole program but i did and enjoyed some of it. There was one moment when, for the first time ever, me and my 15 year old son actually agreed on something to do with music. I said i cant stand Kasabian and he said "someone should throw a car at the singer". kids eh? Not as clueless as people make them out to be.

I just think the EBMM. Forums are really jus to praise thier instruments, they aren't really open forums lime this and TB. As long as people realise this I dont think they will have any issues there. I guess if a problem does arise with one of thier instruments they would rather it be delt with in private. Understandae I guess.

I find hard cases too cumbersome for travelling on public transport, especially with a suit bag. Ive yet to find the prefect gig bag, for the past 5 years ive used a very, very, cheap Levys bag that came with my old HW1. The reason being its very compact (lack of padding) but more importantly it hangs on my shoulder. Being just over 6ft i dont want to wear the bag like a ruck sack and so prefer to have the bag hanging off my shoulder so the top is still below head height. Like Ross, mine is just laid on top of the rest of the gear in the back of the car. The other bags i love are the EBMM shaped bags but the pockets are pretty small on those. I do have a Warwick Rockbag which is great, much nicer and well padded but hardly ever use it.

I wouldn't go over the top with changing things. If this was just to get a bite of the P bass apple then no matter how much you spend on it you will still want a bigger bite IMO and more likely to buy a Fender sooner rather than later. Maybe upgrade the pup and tuners if they bother you or you want a different tone but leave it at that unless something isnt working as it should.

Ive been gigging MB heads for about 5 years. Mostly a SA450 but occasionally a LMII with another band. For me the best MB tone ive had was with a BDDI in front of it. Although i loved the SA450 i felt it could sound a bit bland sometimes, but adding a bit of BDDI in made the world of difference and i expect more so than just having a tube in the pre amp. Maybe worth thinking about. I've never heard anyone complain that a MB head didnt have enough power for any gig (other than maybe the 250watt heads) but choosing the right cab definitely makes a difference. Although people do use MB cabs its really the heads that are popular, the cabs leave a lot of people undecided.

There seem to be quite a few Witch hunt type threads on her recently. It seems some people love to join in and put the boot in without ever having all the facts or hearing both sides. These people make their own mind up very early on in the thread and you wont change their minds. After reading Ken's replies i must admit i was a bit surprised at how clam and down to earth they are. Not the picture i had in my head based on the posts up until Ken started posting. I think Ken has been pretty calm about all this, no ranting or raving like i had expected. Just saying.

If you had started a year ago you may well either be fed up with them or forgotten them and have to relearn them. Saying that, i hope you have plent of ospare time over the next month. Have you got printed music to work with or just off CD? Good luck with it.
