Your welcome to borrow it if you wanted it try it out for a few weeks. I actually thought it was still in my CV P last week. I remember putting a Fender 62 RI pup in the bass as an experiment but thought i had taken it out. So, there's another suggestion. The Fender 62RI is also a good, not too expensive thumpy pup. Probably a bit more open and not quite as dark as the Thumper, but still with plenty of thump.

Ive got a Streamliner and its great for that old tube tone but i also like the Markbass/BDDI tone, probably a bit better. To me its a bit more modern, with more sparkle.

Whatever next, frets that are at an angle to make playing them easier? The mind boggles at what people dream up

This thread made me go back and look at my old Lakland's. This one seems to be offset although i didnt notice it at the time. This seems to be fine

The name rings a bell. Have you got a pic of it? Im sure i had a Keyboard head made by McGregor years (and years) ago.

Use a trolley of some sort?[/quote] Ive only done it once but yes, cab went on one of those lightweight fold up trolleys, amp and leads went in a rucksack strapped to the top of the cab and bass on back. I only used the tube and im not sure i would use a bus but i can see it working ok, and probably takes less space than a child in a large buggy so its not too bad. Its great having a lightweight rig. I can make the trek from car to stage in one go, then go back and forth 4-5 times helping the others with all their gear :-(

I also had 3 MIA Fender Jazz basses last year that were miss aligned in some way. Both my Squiers are spot on.

I dont think its unusual for someone to spend (a lot of) money on a rig to get a certain tone and to want to use that tone at gigs. I sometimes find that while a full PA will get the tone of the bass across (normally it just sounds like a P bass IME) a lot of people need their rig to get their tone. While im sure it still sounds good out front, if you cant play off your tone it can be a bit of a downer, again, IME.

Personally i think the Chi's are very retro looking and suit the Decade and Hollowbody much more than this bass. Although i do have a BDDI, and occasionally do play bigger gigs with a full PA i hate not having my rig behind me so always take it. It may not make a difference out front but i prefer to feel the notes on the back of my legs, and the band do appreciate the fact that they can sometimes feel it in the floor.

We had a few post Ascot ladies at our gig. They certainly stood out from the crowd. That probably why we had a good crowd. Very entertaining in a pervy way.

Why not just take the big amp for the small gigs? You dont have to turn it up to silly levels. Im one of those "lucky" ones who hardly ever use PA support so i get to choose how i sound out front.

We were in Knaphill (OHM's village) on sat, just a social club but one of the best crowds we have had this year. Very vocal and up dancing all night. This was one gig were really weren't looking forward to as the pay isnt great and, well, its a social club but we all agreed it was one of the most enjoyable gigs we have done for a long time. The only issue i had was i took my Jazz with P neck and struggled all night. Ive now decided to give up on P necks altogether.

Thanks but as much as I like orange I can't see me owning a bass in that colour.

I've just seen a pic of a White one with matching headstock and block inlays. I can't believe I've not seen these before. Time to sell a Squier I think.

I've never even looked at a Yamaha bass before but the BB 414 looks very good value for money. Cheaper even than a CV Squier. I'm going to look In to these a bit more.

I'd love to get my CV P sprayed Arctic white but it looks like the cost of getting a [u]good[/u] job done will be more than the bass costs.
