1. +2 to all the above. I use mine on every gig now, no matter what the surface is. I cant say if it makes much difference on the harder surfaces but its worked wonders on the regular social club and Marquee stages we play on. Saying that, it can only do so much and i still find stages that cant be tamed.
2. Ive been gigging my CV Jazz neck for over a year now and i dont see any sign of fret ware. To be honest ive never noticed any on any bass ive owned although i do admit to not keeping them for too long in the past. As Steve says, they make a nice difference if you like that sort of thing. The vintage frets were the big selling point for me on the Laklands ive had. At first i didnt notice them on my 55-01 (my first Lakland) but no wonder it was so easy to play.
3. Thanks Gareth. I was a bit lazy with these shots but at least they are clear and sharp, which shows how clean the head is.
4. Bump for pictures added. Also im very interested in a Shuttle 6 now, I have had one possible offer that ill probably take at the end of the month if nothing else happens.
5. Nice video. Doesn't sound too bad. When's the first show?
6. Thanks for the heads up. I've ordered the Levys one as the DSL ones cost a bit more, plus the DSL onesis are a bit wider then I would prefer.
7. I just saw this on the IK Multimedia website. iPhone holder Although its obviously designed for using music apps live my first thought was that this will be great for videoing the audience from the centre front of the stage. I might pick one up and give it a try.
8. MarkBass Amp bag for the larger heads like the SA450/SD1200 etc. Great idea in theory as you dont have to take the head out to use it, but with large vent holes in the sides it makes it pretty dangerous if its raining as there is nothing stopping it from going straight in to the amp.
9. Yep, its a great tone, just not mine :-(
10. To be honest ive never used it for distortion so i have no idea how dirty it gets. To be honest i much prefer the tone of a LMII. SA450 etc head with a BDDI in front of it and the STL600 sounds nothing like it IMO.
11. Pre weekend bump with added trade option. I would also consider a GB Shuttle 6.0 or 9.0 with a bit of cash your way. Ive had a few enquiries but nothing suitable. Photos will be up on Sunday. Have a good one people
12. Cheers Gareth. To be honestI'mm not really looking for another head,I'mm selling the STL600 as i prefer the F1 and quite happy to just have the F1. The F500 would be nicer though. If i got a F500 i would then sell the F1. Saying that, who knows what will happen in a month or so. The Shuttle does look nice but i too like the whole Markbass Design.
13.
Markbass was another option for me but the GB just seemed more suited to what i was looking for with the tube pre-amp. I'm pretty pleased with mine i have to say. Good luck with your search for a new amp and I'll keep an eye on your progress to see what you go for - I'm curious now. Cheers Dave
Cheers. I already have a F1 so thats going to be my main head unless i can get a F500. No other head interests me.
14. Its a Jizz bass
15.
Yep, wrong size allen keys in the wrong hands. Imperial / metric confusion perhaps?
Wouldn't that just possibly damage the head or slot rather than the thread?
16.
Nice! I bet I'm not the only one who this pic made an impact on back in the day...
Giggady
17.
Hi Dave Yep went from MAG to GB same time as yourself in fact we were following the same thread for a while on the loose mains connector. Love the GB amp. Can't fault it at all apart from the 20 second warm up which bugs me as i keep forgetting about it and all of a sudden it bursts into life just as I've cranked my bass vol up to see why no sound. Cheers Dave
Ah yes, Gareth's STL900 thread. Glad he got that sorted. Im selling my STL600 now, i just cant get on with it, back to MarkBass for me. Rusco. Good luck with the tape measure. Hopefully it will fit. These amps have gainded a few new features since they were released and offer even better value for money now.
18.
+1 for buying a replacement. Sell the busted one as parts to help pay for your new one.... and be careful next time.
Or keep the busted one for parts in case it happens again :-) If that's a Wilkinson bridge they arent expensive to replace but it look more like a Hipshot, not cheap. I would have expected it be a bit more durable. Maybe it might be cheaper to buy a Wilkinson and use the bits needed, if they fit.
19. Yep, with a rosewood neck i think blocks work well but i think a maple fretboard should have dots. This was one of the big reasons i never wanted a Squier VM Jazz, even though i love blocks. For what its worth i also didnt like the binding on the MIM 70's classic Jazz. I felt it looked cheap and nasty. I hope this is different but i doubt it.
20.
Nice Dave... yours?
It used to be, in fact ive had two and regret selling them.
21.
Whilst I think blocks look cool on jazzes , I like the fact that Ps are fairly plain humble basses, blocks don't suit my image of a P
I think if done right it blocks can look good on any neck :-)
22. I love blocks and really want a 3TSB/maple P but i hate the look of black blocks on maple. Considering these have vintage frets they are that close to being the perfect P for me. Fender give with one hand and take away with the other :-( Still, if the price is right i might be tempted. At least they put a black PG on it. Other than the blocks this is just like a more expensive Matt Freeman Squier.
23. Cheers guys. GW. Thanks, i saw that a while ago but its a bit wider than i wanted, plus I dont really like the look of the wide end. EBS. Thanks. I was hoping to get one before this weekend so wasn't really looking to import one. I guess as there dont seem to be any in this country so ill place an order with them now. Ta for the link.
24.
Wheres the best place to pick up a set of J Wizards?
From Wizard themselves, or second hand off here although you might have to wait a bit for a set to come up.
25. I really want a "Levy's Guitar Strap, M70-WHT, 1 1/2" Leather - White" but cant find one anywhere, even ebay.com only turns up one and thats local shipping. I've found this DSL strap But i also found a review that says they are rubbish. I've not heard of them before. It has to be one that allows me to put a Levys radio transmitter pocket on it, so the straps with the slits are the only type ive looked at. Cheers.
