  1. Haha. Yeah they are strange if you've not grown up with them. Like the US 'cups' in recipes.. Never known why there are two systems.. Brief explanation here https://www.hoffmanacademy.com/blog/whats-a-quaver-note-names/ Still don't understand the logic outside 4/4 though..
  2. If you had to pick one of your basses, which could you throw the furthest? I think I'd use my Streamer ..
  3. How many notes need to be played to qualify?
  4. Such a great video. Hugh Pugh Barney Magrew
  5. Years back I went to the Gallery after a Jazz , walked out with the Rithimic. Maybe £800 new, plays like something twice that. The neck for me was perfect, plus great woods and hardware. Body design is divisive but looks great / better in real life Ultimately didn’t get on with the Barts, with hindsight should have swapped these out. Was the last 4 I owned too. Always been interested to try his Rithmic 5, despite what Jeff says about 5 string players ..
  6. Was wondering about the crazed finish, and those weird holes on the back, just been the through the build diary , some really interesting ideas. Enjoy the bass !
  7. 7 weeks from Public Peace to UK. For sake of example let's say destination London, 330 mile trip. About 6 miles a day over 7 weeks .. Could have walked it
  8. Ha - I know what you're getting at.. was really just highlighting there are SBL fans who've done SBL courses, vs detractors who don't like his marketing. The irony across all of this being the majority of course content in SBL isn't Scott
  9. Know it's been much discussed, but not sure I've ever seen an SBL detractor on here who's actually paid for membership.
  10. How brilliant. Would love to hear more about that. Really tragic he’s no longer around, was no age and still playing in his prime..
  11. Fascinating seeing that again. Remember mates getting involved solely for the looting - free clothes doing the rounds. Pre CCTV, everyone seemed to get away with it too. Felt like victimless high jinx at the time..
  12. Same here for Bass Direct. Sold lots through them, varying timescales but Mark is confident at pricing and it’s always come through for me. After commission (and shipping to them), typically level to selling privately, sometimes shade more. Gallery have been good in past for part ex pricing. Andy Baxter is obviously the man for legit vintage, was amazed / delighted the price he got. Of course sold stacks through BC , and Facebook for cheaper gear.
  13. Stumbled on this the other day - pretty cool, ‘Cliff’ taking the lead line on the intro. Love how much time people have to make these things..
  14. Could probably live with just one bass, replacing it every 8 weeks

    So..Sire

Fender have been price fixing for years which has skewed perspective, partly why the big guys (them, Gibson, Guitar Centre) have been in so much trouble lately. Sire seem priced about right by today’s standards.
  16. Did the SBL Gary Willis course on a whim which was great and has given me more motivation to practice. Weekly jamulus can't replace gigging but has it's upsides - being able to ramp up complexity without having to get gig ready has been liberating. Feel lucky I've had more time on my hands in lockdown, appreciate not the case for many. Being able to play more has brought my playing on a lot this past year.
  17. From past experience any available drummer or guitarist advertising themselves as having 'pro gear' is generally the last person you want to be in a band with.
  18. Love that, great level of detail he's pulled together. Great series in fact, now working through the others..
  19. These alt uses are good. I can't be the only BCer who bought these without having any need - my basses all have Schallers on (which I believe might also be @ped 's most hated straplock). Maybe need a new bass to go with these.
  20. That was my first thought. It's the most immediate 'wrong' when you see it
