A scratch plate made for a standard MIA jazz should fit a MIM, when I took the one off my MIA & hovered it over my MIM out of interest it seemed to pretty much line up the same. Try this place: http://www.wdmusic.co.uk/ I got a replacement guard for my MIM years ago from here & also one for my MIA fairly recently & both fit great!

Find me a narrow string spacing jazz 5 string......
joe_bass replied to voxpop's topic in Bass Guitars
Sadowskys have fairly narrow string spacing don't they? Always thought it's strange how a Fender jazz 5 string has a much wider neck than you would expect. Of course it's not a jazz but how about a stingray 5? I've got very small hands & get on fine with mine. -

I put DR's on my Thumb bass, they looked bloody good with the black hardware! However yeah as already said the colour flaked off fairly quickly, & I don't play with a pick, they stayed bright though! BTW I had to file down the end of the B string to fit it over the bridge, just mentioning in case you may have the problem with the 'vette.

First question put a smile on my face. Makes you wonder if they actually think they will succeed in business with an attitude like that.

Exactly the same as the one I bought myself back in December! Lovely combination the sunburst & maple board, I changed the pickguard to a black one though. Are you planning to file down the fat beams to fit over the bridge?

Music Business Guidelines. Copyright, Contracts and Rates.
joe_bass replied to slaphappygarry's topic in General Discussion
Great thread, answered a few of my questions. But just to clarify on the bit regarding writing bass lines... The bassist (assuming they wrote the bass lines) is more likely to be able to take a share of the copyright the more his/her lines contribute/are important to the song. But isn't that largely opinion? -
"23/3/09 - sorry guys / gals, but I have been advised by several very generous individuals, that I have seriously underpriced this baby (especially as it's an early one, and has LEDs in the neck), so I'm afraid the price has had to go up" Why would someone do that?!

Where can I find ........ a Fender jazz 5 string
joe_bass replied to Golchen's topic in Bass Guitars
You know the 5 string version has a wider than proportion neck right? Just thought I'd mention in case part of the reason you fancy a jazz is the thin neck! -
The Jazz was a birthday present from Mother and Father Bolton a few years back, so the value is more sentimental than financial
Oh well in that case no way would I let her take it out of the flat if I were you! Perhaps hit the for sale section here? Do the leg work for her if she isn't doing much to sort out some own gear for herself.

I'd be fine letting her take the MIM jazz around but wouldn't be too happy about the Precision. I'm sure she'd be careful though, she's a girl!

Musicman Stingray - Such a love/hate relationship

I was expecting quite a few no's, am surprised! My SR5 is fine, just can take a while to play around with sometimes with certain amps. As for a few users in the sorta genres you have listed, off the top of my head.... Disturbed Tool (before Wal) 36 Crazyfists Tim Commerford (early Rage) The Music -
Michigan bass "made in the USA by Alembic apprentices"
joe_bass replied to Bassassin's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
"HARD TO FIND ANY INFO ON THESE,THEY ARE BELIEVED TO BE MADE BY ALEMBIC APPRENTICES AS PART OF THEIR TRAINING,SO HANDMADE IN THE USA." I take it this statement was picked straight out of the bullsh!t hat? -

That's a great idea Clarky, seen some lovely looking basses made by that chap in my time here. -
Why are there so many Celinders atm?
Funny how high end basses seem to come along in groups recently! You don't see a certain brand of bass around here for a while, then suddenly there are a couple of Sadowskys, 2 or 3 high end Spectors, a few Laklands & now 2 Celinders lurking about! Time to get a credit card!! Good luck with the sale, I'd love to hear some sound clips out of interest.
On auctions, I am sure I've seen plenty of FS threads stating "PM me offers" or such like.
Doesn't "PM me offers" normally mean: tell me what you've got & if I think it's reasonable I'll accept? As opposed to: I've been offered x amount, will anyone offer me more?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fred_West
Hadn't heard of Fred West before, now that was an erm interesting read! Anyway... lovely looking bass CK, you can't beat a black body & guard with a maple board for a start! Really loved the tones coming out of it in the sound clips as well. Will have to play the lottery tomorrow!

How about they attempt to make one decent guitar instead of 6 pieces of fire wood?
