1. Seems that it's being marketed as a bass for beginners IMO, or at least the amateur musician who just wants to have fun. Hence I wouldn't expect it to cost a lot, which would make you assume it's no where near the quality of his Modulus or say a Stingray etc... Couldn't therefore imagine him actually endorsing this as his working instrument.
2.
phew! that's a relief cos i still have my '71 Jazz for sale due to being messed around on the Bay, huge apology for the hijack MNTL73 but times are tough here and i have a few spares for me pension, PM's if anyones interested, open to offers but no trades
How about just making your own thread? More chance of being seen then.
3. I've currently got two plus a defretted one in pieces. I did sell the third in anticipation of replacing it fairly soon afterwards, however some stuff has come up so that won't be happening for a few months by the looks of it.
4. A good Fender Mexi jazz should do the trick, if you go for that make sure to play a few though to try & find the best one.
5. Good call IMO. Best to stick something in the thread title mate so potential buyers don't get excited to then realise you've change your mind.
6. Tried a lot of different basses & would like to think I'll always put a good Fender jazz first. Although I am yet to try Sadowsky...
7.
I believe the ones stamped 'Fender' were for many years actually Schallers but re-badged (in order to increase their Ebay value 10-fold)
They wouldn't put stamped ones on a MIM though would they?
8.
i see your point.. but this bass was sent to me by the manufacturer...and now im selling it... thats identical to what would happen to a store in order for it to be brand new....?
No? You've assumed that all instruments hanging up in a shop are messed around with so hence an instrument that you own & yet hasn't been played much is therefore more brand new than one that hasn't been bought in a shop?
9. That's a bit subjective though mate isn't it. To most people a brand new instrument is one that hasn't been bought & taken home from the shop or where ever. Anyway good luck with it.
10. "its only ever been played at home..and lives in its case" Mate that's not quite what I'd class as a brand new instrument. As new? Yes. But brand new is a bit misleading don't you think? Might be some come back from Ebay regarding it, just wanted to mention. Anyway good luck with the sale, a cracking instrument.
11. Was a great site, got quite a few tracks still on my comp. Some of the stuff was just simply interesting to watch & look at. Like Jamiroquai tracks etc where they had tabbed every instrument. Such a shame it was all taken down, although I think there are a few other sites around, but they're all for the new Guitar Pro now.
12. Go see a physio. They should send you away with some decent stretches as well.
13. Wow, & also pretty cool that you still have the actual receipt from the day it was bought! I agree with Linus though you may regret selling this piece of family history.
14. Go for a Squier, great opinions on the new VMJ etc here. I had, actually have (although in bits!) a vintage V900, it's an ok bass but you'll be hankering for more after not long.
15. Love the look of all black with a maple fretboard, good luck with this mate!
16. Perhaps going for a more conventional image for the first page you would expect a visitor to see?
17. Wow that's a good price for an all original bar the scratch plate isn't it?!
18.
they really are the only two companies that have been going and built up some sort of classic status. It's a bit hard to phrase it, bit like mojo for the brand name so to speak.
You mean like brand estabilishment? Both are almost cultural icons? Some good points made in the initial post & reponses. I've had a MIM jazz & now a MIA jazz. I didn't buy the MIM based on the name etc, I got it when I was 15, most of the bands I were listening to at the time were using brands such as Ibanez & Warwick so if I'd gone for what I was mainly seeing on the TV then it would have been something along those lines. Bought the Mexican because of the neck (the width & smoothness) & of course the sound. Was really happy with the Mexican but just wanted to upgrade so got my MIA, sunburst finish, maple board & a black pickguard that I got for it, gorgeous. I did look at other brands when I was looking to upgrade, the only alternative I would have gone for would have been a Sadowsky though. Anything considerably better IMO is a lot more expensive.
19.
this would be great value for anyone thinking of moving to a 6er.
+1 Great chance for someone to try out a 6 string!
20. Sorry guys got the gauge wrong they are... .45 .65 .85 .105 Have PM'd you Mark.
21.
looks genuine, but hate the look of that control plate with 2 jacks on it! a little too beat up for my taste
Yeah that would have to be swapped out straight away, looks horrible! Don't see too many vintage sales on Ebay with so few photos though, eg. no pots or neck heel shots etc.
22. *EDIT* .45 .65 .85 .105 The guy at the shop said they would fit fine but that the E string would be slightly heavier gauge than standard. Shame he didn't know they aren't actually tapered eh!
