1. Not sure this is helpful, but could "Boyd" be the signature of an artist (who did the artwork only?), as opposed to the luthier? Maybe try the TalkBass forum if you expect there to be a US connection. No ideas other than that!
2. Mesa Dial Caliber amps are quite underrated but really are superb IMO. Somewhere between Mark IV and Dual Rec in terms of heavy tone, with a really nice clean channel. GLWTS.
3. I'd try to find out how it got there! worst case scenario is that someone routed in an extra pickup outside of the factory and screwed up.... as someone else noted above, more likely is that it is a bridge pickup (with wider spacing) in place of a neck pickup (though I don't think Wal would let the bass leave the factory like that, so someone must have at least swapped pickups?) if routing is fine, it may just take sending to Wal and persuading them to swap pickups - assuming it bothers you enough. TBH I'm sure it's fixable, it just becomes a question of how much and what you'd be "able to live with"....
4. That looks promising. Thanks dannybuoy
5. baaah-geeen prieys matey!
6. hi guys Just wondering if anyone can recommend a cheap but functional 18v adapter wall-wart to be used for powering a Cali76TX? I think the mA draw is negligible, but it does need to be 2.1mm barrel and centre-negative, and obviously 18v and UK-socket.... Had a look at the official power supply from Origin Effects and it works out as £30 with postage... Not bashing Origin, but I'm looking around for any cheaper options first, especially as I will only use this on occasion, when Cali is going to be used “desktop” in a studio context (i.e. uprooted from the usual place on the pedalboard, where it lives most of the time). As an aside, as long as power supply puts out correct voltage and sufficient current, expecting any differences in pedal performance to be negligible between a cheaper power supply and the official Origin one (assuming I can find the cheaper one), right? Thanks in advance for you wisdom and comments! Roman
7. also bought a strap, super easy, and received within 4 days. many thanks
8. I sold my regular BDDI for more than the asking price on the programmable one that last year... Perhaps Tech 21 is depreciating in resale value.. then again brand new, this unit would be around £200, so it's still a significant saving.
9. Agree, some of the email specs from Warwick HQ can be a bit suspect. They told me 1990 Thumb NT6 had SD basslines as stock, though from a previous owner I know they were actually after-market replacements for the stock Bartolinis! Amazing Jazzman, though. That combination of woods is positively sexy!
10. Seems to be the case in every photo... not sure how that would get past QC.
11. Is it just me or is there an issue with string / pickup pole alignment?
12.
Better to have a slot cut into your own skull, then you can keep an eye on your plectrum at all times.
Minor technicality, but wouldn't that require purchase of a mirror (+extra?)
13. great deal IMO. my old bb614 was a joy to play (and sold for more)! GLWTS
14. Almost tempted to pay $98 shipping for the $3 P.O.S....Almost.
15. I think dood has most likely got this one right, I recall a similar problem / resolution occurring in my recording projects.
