Not weird at all then.
 2.
This is how I see it in my head... Noone would buy a car thats 50 years old and pay double/triple what it was worth new because of the fact that as things get old they break.
Really? I'd have a think again. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2094303/Rare-Ford-Escort-sold-3-000-1968-fetches-65-000-today-thanks-painstaking-restoration-work.html
 3.
Anyone point me in the direction of short scale flats similar to the Fender 9050L (feel / tension)
I don't know how they compare with the Fenders but i use Status Hot Wire short scale flats on a couple of my short scale basses and at £13.99 a set are an absolute bargain.
 4. Brilliant. I've got nearly all of those LPs.
 5.
A friend of mine is passionate about all of his hobbies - till he gets bored with it and moves onto something else - golf, fishing, decks, bikes - he's been through them all. Currently it's his Subaru WRX - buying this and that part, tuning this, extra power that....bores me shitless but it takes all sorts...
He should have bought the STi version then he wouldn't have had to buy all those tuning parts.
 6. I once flew non stop from Gatwick to Nashville with two friends. Just three middle aged blokes going on holiday. One of my friends was taken to a room and talked to for over an hour about why he was there, what he was going to do. He had no criminal record, was a respectable person in full time employment with plenty of money to support himself on the two week trip. After all of that they told him that he would have to swear allegiance to the flag of the U.S.A. and repeat what they said. He pointed out that he could only do that to the flag of his country (United Kingdom) and pointed out how ridiculous it all was. They then turned a bit nasty and told him in no uncertain terms that unless he did what they requested he would be sent back to the UK on the next plane. He did as they said but had his fingers crossed behind his back as he did it! It seems to me that whatever colour, race, religion etc we can all have problems with immigration in a any country from time to time.
 7.
I have been a long time admirer of Carl Thompson basses (and Mr Carl Thompson himself) - but have never owned one. They are as rare as hens teeth....anyone here lucky enough to own one?
You are a tease White Cloud. When i saw this thread i was expecting to see that you'd bought one!!! Disappointed or what?!!!
 8. This is already in the eBay - Weird and Wonderful section. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/247362-1969-precisionnot/
 9.
So is this the conclusion about all this? That border control people can simply say 'no', for whatever reason they choose? No right to talk to a manager? No official reason need be given? No scope for appealing the decision?
No, No, No & No. There you go, that's that answered.
 10.
No idea what the full story is here but the assumption that UK customs are nice chaps who always apply the rules correctly is quite amusing.
It would be amusing but i can't say that i've noticed that is the general assumption in this thread.
 11. It's been around for a while........ http://basschat.co.uk/topic/239239-anyone-for-a-real-pino-bass/page__p__2479789__hl__pino%20__fromsearch__1#entry2479789
 12.
How bizarre. I flew to Brazil with the intention of avoiding that same gig. And I got deported back to Blighty - what are the odds?
Ah yes, but did you tell the nice immigration chaps that you had flown in especially to see this lot by any chance?
 13.
While I cannot say very much I was a Fender employee, now I am not and I am not the only one who was let go.
I'd be interested to know why you can't say very much.
 14.
Gone are the days of rooms full of shelves packed full of LPs and avidly reading the sleeve notes while playing the records.
Not in my house it hasn't. I still have a few thousand LPs despite off-loading a couple of thousand in the last few years. These 'Vinyl Revival' stories come out every year with TV and Newspapers covering them. There is of course no way back for vinyl but audiophile pressings have increased in recent years. Still One Million vinyl copies per years is tiny when compared to CDs and downloads.
 15.
It's fair to say that nobody here knows the full story
But as usual that won't stop people commenting on it on here.
 16.
The B side is Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me by The Saturdays feat. McFly.
The B side? You're showing your age with that.
 17.
Does it have cool bass lines?
Sounds cool to me and that ice is even cooler.
 18.
(Trivia corner: the Dad in the video is played by Timothy Leary. Yes, that Timothy Leary.)
Then i'm glad i Turned On and Tuned In..........
 19. I was convinced it was going to be this. Must be a generation thing i suppose. http://youtu.be/Si2WjXAXPDs
 20. Should be well worth watching. I've seen him live a few times but this 1984 tour with Miroslav Vitous was a bit special. Two great bass players for the price of one! http://youtu.be/Pm_FHEwg7N8
 21. Well done! I've always liked the T-20. Often overlooked in favour of the T-40 the T-20 is a fine bass.
