1. About 30 seconds of that was enough for me.
 2.
I've been looking at picking up a short scale semi-hollow for more '60s sounding stuff recently. Just stumbled on the Framus Vintage Star Bass 5/150 2012 reissue but information seems pretty scant on them.
As you say these were made in 2012 but dealers were still selling them in 2013. The suggested UK retail price was about £850. How much they really sold for is anyone's guess. They looked really nice basses though and much cooler than the subsequent Warwick editions IMHO.
 3.
Well the song is awesome!
The song is indeed awesome. It's just a pity that the film was so poor. I'd rather remember those smokey and sweaty London pubs and clubs where i saw Ian Dury many times and where he was at his best.
 4.
Is that the film with Andy Serkis? I saw that at flicks, enjoyed it. :-)
Yes. I thought that his performance was the only good thing in a film that had no sense of when in time it was all supposed to be happening. And with all the flashbacks it was all a bit too clever for it's own good and the cups and plates throwing scene was ridiculous.
 5. I really wish i hadn't watched that.
 6. Excellent. I really enjoyed that. I've known this song for years but not speaking Portuguese (no internet then) it took me a while to understand the lyrics. It's a great song and the lyrics are something else! Gil is one of the greats. I'd love to hear someone do a bass video of 'Realce'.
 7.
It was done a couple of years back and was badly stripped and varnished when I got it . It had evidence of several different finishes over the years , none of them being the original , so I don't know what it was I'm afraid .
Thanks.
 8.
Lovely old refin in LPB with the usual dings etc . RW fingerboard /blocks 'n bound . Both bridge and pickup covers included ( not shown in pics . ) To my knowledge , all original , except the finish and pick guard and non original ( but old ) hard shell case .
When did it have the refin and what was the original colour?
 9.
You're right there BetaFunk. Lucky for me I'm not a Kinks man.

I see where you're going and I'm sure you'll get there.Might take time but it'll happen.
I agree they are great basses and amazing what you get for little outlay. The world of guitars and bass guitars is driven by fashion as much as anything else. That's good for those of us who don't follow the rest like sheep and make our own minds up on what is good value!
 10.
To my view these Peavey basses are unsung bargains. US made, quality woodwork fit and finish. They can be picked up for 1/10 of big F USA basses of same vintage. What is not to like?
See post #4. It's all about fashion.
 11. I rather like the idea of a scratchplate being used as an ashtray.
 12. I bought this LP around 40 years ago and it still makes me sit up and listen. While Ayler's soprano is all over the place on this 1963 recording the local Copenhagen musician's play it straight which makes Ayler's playing sound even more 'way out'. Fascinating stuff. http://youtu.be/ApPE-riNdRI
 13.
In a bit of a trumpet mood this evening so here's a couple of my favourites: http://youtu.be/hUrjoTF8XyM
Interesting version when compared to the more well known Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers version with Morgan alongside Benny Golson on Tenor Sax and the composer Bobby Timmons on Piano. Interesting also to compare the bass playing of the great Ray Brown with the brilliant Jymie Merritt.
 14.
Bought from ebay for the ridiculous price of £51 it just proves the Peavey Love ain't universal.
More likely it just proves that the buying of Basses is driven by fashion just like most things today.
 15. Noah Howard: One of my favourite Alto Saxophone players with Ric Colbeck on Trumpet....... http://youtu.be/G8TpZwEfeCQ
 16. Anyone fancy a bit of Rural Groove? http://youtu.be/t7F6Jnrqa4c
 17.
http://www.last.fm/tag/urban%20groove
Well what do you know. I've been listening to Urban Groove for years without knowing what Urban Groove actually was. In fact i've been listening to it for so long it wasn't even called Urban Groove when i started listening to it. It's nearly as confusing to me as another label that i have a problem with......... Freakbeat........... don't get me started on that one!.
 18. It seems to me that buyers now expect a price drop. Unless it's a real bargain or something that someone has been searching for no one is going to buy until there is a price drop. It's not unusual on here to see up to 10 posts in one day with 'price drop' in the title.
 19. I've just worked out that when an artist or group plays there's (hopefully) going to be more people in the audience than on stage. That means that there are more music lovers who don't play than those who do play.
 20. I knew a bloke who had an Alembic and a WAL. I once saw him gigging with an early 80s USA Fender Jazz. When i asked him why he wasn't using the Alembic or WAL he said that he only took his cheap basses to gigs in pubs. I suppose it's all down to what you think 'cheap' is.
 21.
In general I think people who play an instrument or sing etc. are more into music than someone who doesn't play/sing,
I've found the complete opposite. Most of my friends who don't play music and aren't in bands have larger music collections and go to more gigs than those i know that play music. P.S. Great post by xilddx by the way.
