1.
Think I am going to have to stick with that, sorry. Fraid that Keith Jarrett piece left me cold. Different strokes and all that!
I was fortunate to see Charlie Haden many times in the 80s/90s but i always preferred his playing with Ornette on those classic Atlantic LPs. I'm not a fan of much of Keith Jarrett's music after the late 70s. I loved this when it was released in the mid 70s. Obviously (note title!) an Ornette influence tribute it has Charlie on good form and some really nice Soprano Saxophone playing from Jarrett. http://youtu.be/MVfxSilpj_o
 2.
No comprende, chief. You've got a Tanglewood box with the same serial number on it. Is it part of a Tanglewood box collection? Wossit all mean? .
It's just part of my latest exhibition entitled 'Just imagine how bashed about your nice new bass guitar would have been when you received it if hadn't beed sent in a cardboard box'. It's my attempt to show how man and the cardboard box co-exist, how we take for granted and often overlook the humble cardboard box.
 3.
Thanks BetaFunk How was the action on yours? I assume factory settings were without a shim and a raised neck board? David
Read my post again and look at the serial number on the box in the photo.
 4.
So how do I check the provenance via the serial number?
You could always email Chris May @ Overwater The top wood is maple - these basses have been made in small numbers (just a few dozen) - but the spec' is due to change with the next production and we are dropping the solid top at this level of production - so your bass will be fairly unique! All replies to 221B Baker Street please.
 5.
Does anyone have any pictures or photos of another Aspiration Elite they could post so that we could use them as a reference? Especially one with the same wood/colour.
Is this any help?
 6.
Hay, man, why do you keep asking?
You really want me to explain why?
 7. Anyone found a 1975 Shergold yet?
 8.
How very observant of you. It was after an earlier post suggested considering how a bass plays and feels as opposed to buying unsuitable guitars just because of the year. It'll be a 2015
It's always a good idea to quote the post that you are answering. It's the little box that says 'quote'. That way we can all understand what the post is about.
 9.
I have GAS for a 77 P bass so considering a relic'd Limelight build
That would be a 2014 then wouldn't it? I thought the op wanted a bass made in 1975.
 10.
other thoughts are a gibson grabber/ripper

What about a Gibson Ripper or Grabber?
11. A 1975 Shergold Bass? Good luck on finding one of those.
 12.
So fed up of him gurning over his piano in that christmas ad, wish someone would run in and slam his fingers in the bloody thing!
That would be a lovely sight indeed only bettered if Roland Rivron was duetting with him at the time and someone shouts HOOT-E-NANNY as that piano lid comes crashing down.
 13.
Sounds like heaven to me. If I could walk pass the 4 terraced homes, sit in that bar Ringo played darts in, my life would be complete. What wonderful memories.
Many years after that i worked with an old guy who lived in the fifth house in that road. He could never get over that he missed out and because they didn't use his house in the film he lost out on a good pay day! The day they filmed the Ringo bit in the pub i had to go to the dentist which meant a rare few hours off school and that's when they were filming. I stood and watched Ringo (no other Beatles were there) go in and out of the pub while filming. The funny thing is i can still remember how bright those lights were.
Shea was done just shortly after the boys finished filming Help.
I've only ever been to Shea to watch Baseball but each time i was there i did think of the Beatles and tried to imagine what it was like. I've sat in a lot of different places in that stadium and it always surprised me how steep the upper seats around the outfield seem looking into 1st base.
 14.
Bought a bass off Gumtree last Friday night, paid by PAINPal. Went to collect on Sat as agreed, he emailed when I was driving down (2.5 hours) that he won't be in. My wife told me 3 hours later. I get there, nobody in except a fragile, deaf octogenarian? lady who came to the window. Don't really know even now if it's his address. I backed off in seconds as I could see I was frightening her. The phone number he gave me went to ansaphone for a local Sunday league club. I then had to go home on the way to that night's gig to pick up a spare bass. Another hour out of my way. On the Sunday he mailed in reply to the mail I sent on Saturday night, after a wasted journey of pushing 5 hours, plus an hour there trying to find him. He said he would post it on Tuesday. Last I heard from him, last Sunday. No bass, no real way of forcing contact. Gone to raise a dispute with PAINPal. CAN'T DISPUTE THIS TRANSACTION AS IT IS JUST A PAYMENT ACCORDING TO THEM, NOT A f***ing ITEM BOUGHT So, for the second time in 5 years I'm about to get f***ed for over £600 and PAINPal are washing their hands of it, despite a £23 charge plus the £650 for the bass, plus £30 out of pocket for fuel. I can't even TRY to get it back via credit card for 30 days. That will be a barrel of laughs no doubt. And people insist on f***ing PAINPal. NEVER NEVER NEVER AGAIN
Surely this is more to do with the seller rather than paypal. Why was there a £23 charge to you?
 15.
Magic, my Dad took me to the Shea Show. I think the tickets were like $5.35 a bargain. I saw Paul last summer and paid 160.00 for 20th row in front of the stage, still a bargain in my book I still wear my Shea Blazer and Beatle Boots. Blue
I never saw the Fab Four live but saw them a lot when when they were filming Help and A Hard Days Night. My school was a couple of hundred yards from Twickenham Studios. The Beatles homes (4 terraced houses in a row) in Help was in my friends road, The Turks Head pub where Ringo played darts was next to my school, the park where they spell H-E-L-P was near me etc. Hundreds of screaming kids descended on Twickenham Studios when school finished at 4 pm every weekday. So lots of happy memories of those times and places.
 16.
Great clip, I also thought it was odd that Ringo had to help move the riser. I love this sort of stuff.
As EssentialTension said, Mal Evans was soon up there helping Ringo. Mal was never far away from the boys at that time.
 17.
Loving the minimal set up. And not a monitor in sight!
Even more amazing at places like Shea Stadium.................. http://youtu.be/1x_WJLr8pPM
 18.
Try this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3JYbtki664
Aah, that's more like it.
 19. Great if it's your thing but to me it just reminds me of teeny pop from the 70s.
 20. Looking at his website it looks like when that Jazz Bass is sold he's got quite a few more to choose from.
 21.
I really like that. Have you heard them since Charles Hayward joined, BTW?
I seem to recall that Killing Time (the first album) is the only Massacre album Charles Haywood isn't on.
 22.
I understood what you meant, not sure you understood me though but to be fair my post was a bit confusing
Ah yes i understand now. I still think it's amusing to include a bass line in the list of Best Bass Lines Ever that was a sample while the original didn't make that list.
 23. I'm waiting for someone to add 'The Adventures Of Grandmaster Flash On The Wheels Of Steel' to the list. It's only a matter of time.
 24.
I was correcting you for saying it was Grandmaster Flash while you were correcting me for thinking the bassline was from White Lines
You weren't correcting me of anything. I was referring to the fact that the bass lines was listed as White Lines by Grandmaster Flash on Spotify when that version is a sample of Cavern by Liquid Liquid. Perhaps you need to read my post again. You apologised for your 'musical faux pas' and although your apology is accepted it wasn't by Grandmaster Melle Mel either.
 25.
I gathered that
Had me fooled then. I thought you said it was by Grandmaster Melle Mel.
