Heard this on R4 this morning... Roger Scruton deplores the tyranny of banal and ubiquitous pop music. Young people, above all, need help to appreciate instead the great music of our civilisation. "Unless we teach children to judge, to discriminate, to recognize the difference between music of lasting value and mere ephemera, we give up on the task of education." http://www.bbc.co.uk...rammes/b06mv4js

This is TI JF324s on a 32" Tele bass. You can see E only just fits, the fat part is around the peg, by about a fifth of a turn. Looks like they are more suited to a 2+2 headstock, rather than 4 inline, but not likely to be much use on a 30"
if you like TIs why not get the short scale version?
Don't think there is a short scale version of TI flats. (but check their website). Jf324s 'Short Scale' are 32 inch, I have these on my 32" Telebass.
As a couple of posters have mentioned D'Addario Chromes flat wounds are relatively bright for flats. We even produce a set suitable for short scale bass ECB81S (45-100).
Have these on my short scale Jaguar, sound good relatively bright (though pups are not humbuckers) And they fit! (other makers please note). Have same string type on my Tbird, never muddy.
Sorry, link hasn't worked quite as I expected - I did intend to link directly to the Half-Round page - these should be brighter than the flats, the longscale ones I tried were.
Thanks. Think the page uses frames, so links can be a problem.
These may well do the trick: http://www.status-gr...index_home.html
Status hotwire flats are thumpy, not very bright. I have some on a short scale. I believe its because they are stiff and wound tight - you can't see any gaps between the windings.

Thomann selling Harley Benton basses as 'Decoration only'
pfretrock replied to Annoying Twit's topic in Bass Guitars
The page format seems to have changed. I can't see a green in stock or red sold out. EDIT: It's "on request". People who have order those before have received them.
Got my prog that way. A popup on the Deko page says the following. Presumably the factory do the rejecting and send batches to Thomann, who probably never unbox anything: "on request Our supplier has not yet provided us with an expected delivery date. Kindly contact us for further thomann information or to see if we have a B-Stock or suitable alternative available." -
I found the best cure for a Tbird neck dive is a P bass. You can thank me later

Intonation - why are strings different lengths
http://liutaiomottol...ompensation.htm
D'Addario publish unit weights for their strings, I've not seen this from other manufacturers. PDF download at the top of this page: http://www.daddario....86-a7958656af1b EDIT: I see they link to the PDF! (I restrung my electro-acoustic bass, so now the intonation with the fixed bridge is terrible, but hey, my ears are not that good) -
Were those custom made? First looks like a B&Q type job, hardly suitable for 50 - 60 lbs total weight. Would the runner support 8-9 lb when fully extended? (based on experience of similar looking 'sock and knicker' draws falling apart!)
ning. Must say I don't particularly like the bass sound - a little coarse, particularly when heard higher in the mix. I guess the best available at the time and didn't really matter because it would be far less audible through a contemporary Dansette record player or Bush transistor radio. Even less so on MW stations.
I read somewhere it was also mixed low to stop pickup arms jumping out of the groove (but don't think that would apply to a Dansette! maybe to a more hi-fi radio station deck) scalpy, have you seen this? These have not made it to the mobile site. Yesterday around mid day, a white Prog 4 appeared briefly https://m.thomann.de/gb/decorative_guitars_and_basses.html -
Wow! I must get around to finishing the rewrite of my program to use the mobile site to.
Mobile seems to be where new Dekos are listed first. They also hang around longer when sold, until new stuff appears it seems. -
With the advent of tracking apps and GPS on mobile phones, Peter Sarstedt is considering reissuing "Where do you go to my lovely?" with amended lyrics but is concerned that it may leave him open to charges of stalking.
He once started a business selling frozen orange juice, but it went bust after the introduction of UHT long life orange juice.
