1.
Israeli 60's Popsters Esther and Abi Ofarim originally planned to record their Hit "Cinderella Rockafeller" in Esher but in the end opted for St Johns Wood....
I'd forgotten about that pop gem, now I remember the video they shot, on the Zebra crossing.
 2. PMT Birmingham (and I guess other branches too) have a PC mouse on the sales counter made from an old pedal. Might have a go myself. Great idea btw, always putting keys down in the wrong place. But does it drain the battery if left in too long?
 3.
Frustrated with 60s recording technology, Jim Morrison had a vision of the future and called his band The Digital Audio Workstations. Sadly, this proved a bit of a mouthful, so the name was frequently abbreviated and misheard.
It turned out to be no better than reel-to-reel technology. The cross talk on Break On Through (To The Other Side) was terrible. They had to record it two times.
 4. Even the mop tops could not work it out. They should have known better. https://twitter.com/...651192720658432
 5.
It is a little known fact that Mark King turned down offers from Queen, The Kings of Leon, Prince, Southside Johnny and the Asbury Dukes, The Kaiser Chiefs, The Count Bishops, Franz Ferdinand and The Baron Knights (2 separate offers).
He saw red when King Crimson turned him down.
 6.
I'm getting along just fine with my £38 Jazz bass. It sounds good and plays well. ...
Almost got one of those on Saturday for £30. They were up for ages. I cut my credit card in half, poked myself in the eye, turned the PC off, picked up my Fender P and started playing. Seemed to work. But I'll always wonder what a J is like....Ther'll be another time....
 7. The Beach Boys cover of Mr Lead Belly's Cotton Fields was first performed live by the goup wearing wool kaftans. (well it was the 60s)
 8.
Embryonic 10.CC songsters "Hot Legs" who had a minor hit with Neanderthal Man rejected Hot Chocolate, Hot Tuna, Hot Chip and Cold Turkey before agreeing on their name.
It was a mistake to release that video. When it was realised that none of the band members had in fact got hot legs, they never sold another record.
 9.
The Album by one time PP Arnold backing band The Nice called "The Thoughts of Emerlist Davjack" is actually named after a real person with that name. I know this because Keith Emerson, Davy O'List ,Brian Davison and Lee Jackson have all independently corroborated it.
I know it well. The track 'War and Peace', is based on the third movement of Emerson's original epic composition which ran for some 17 hours 35 minutes in its full version.
 10. Did you check if the bass was made in Nigeria? Just a thought.
 11.
I'd be more concerned that you published the whole email complete with both yours and the senders email addresses. It would have been very simple for someone less scrupulous than the 300 or so people who've read this thread to have spoofed your email reply and claimed the prize for themselves, while you were still wondering if the original email was genuine.
I did think of trying, but was worried about being screwed by a phisher
 12.
Is this thread good for metal?
If I fitted Platinum strings, it would probably eliminate the lousy fret buzz and poor string muting created by my hands.
 13. Congrats! - I guess the link you followed did not fry your PC or add any virus, But I'd always check the email header, so easy to do you should learn it. Email is so simple to forge. ('they' know where you are now ) When it arrives - Photos, or it did not happen!
 14. Yes try that. Dont hit reply, if it is Phishing, that is what they want you to do. Hope its for real :-)
 15. Does your email client allow you to view the header? this usually shows, for a spoof email, a source other than what it's supposed to be. If you've any doubt, shooting them an email may not be the thing to do! Congrats if its legit!
 16.
Today's big question, do we stop at 100,000 (ish) or continue?
Go for Platinum - or any suitable Transition metal.
 17.
...did he open their supermarkets?
Only those near Selsey, where he played the Xylophone outside the store.
 18.
I was wondering how to make a template like the one in the picture?
Does it have to be exactly like that? There are some pdf plans here easily capable of killing drummers. Dean and BC Rich look sharp. PDFs files will print 100% accurate on a copy shop plotter.
 19.
Pink Floyd's "Bike" was inspired by a rather persistent groupie.
Astronomy Domine was co-written by Sir Patrick Moore. Due to contractual reasons it never apperared on the original US vinyl release of TPATGOD and was never credited on the UK release as he was under contract to NASA.
 20.
I attended a 'Free' concert in the early '70s, but had to pay to get in.
I was given a ticket by my brother Jake. He stole it.
 21.
That's what I am struggling with, the fact that the printer is fully accurate.
Not sure why you have little faith in modern printers. How are you producing the original artwork? Someone already suggested taking a file to a print shop. I've printed a HH Telecaster body on a laser plotter on A0 paper (from a PDF file) , came out perfect. I'v also used Adobe Reader (Free) to print out bodies in Poster mode on multiple A4 (or A3) sheets which you then stick together with magic tape, Every page lined up accurately. If the scale is out, Adobe allows the scale factor to be specified. If you can get an accurate pdf file from your artwork, you should be able to get an accurate print using the first suggestion.
 22.
sssshhhh...we could pretend it's Birmingham, Alabama....
I remember a gig in Birmingham, UK. I think it was Joe Walsh (was a long time ago) who said: "We have a Birmingham in Alabama, it's a much nicer place". There you are, Beatlemania couldn't happen in a nicer place.
 23.
First five digits of the serial are CGS 11, so thatd be made in 2011 I guess?
I picked up a copy of the Squier Electrics book at The Works a couple of months back. It gives the details of the CGS serial as either a 7, 8 or 9 digit number. The first two is the year, but can run into the following year, for example CGS11xxxxxx = 2011 - 2012 There are about a dozen or more, 'crafted' or 'made' in China codes, of either two or three letter codes, most start with 'C'. running into the next year seems common.
 24.
How can you doubt he was playing it?
Sure he's playing it. Though some of the guitar work did have intienation problems. https://www.youtube....h?v=mJMyXxiBR1Q
