1.
'P' p/ups are often louder, as they're fed by a great string movement.
Curiously (or perhaps not), loudness depends on the velocity of the string motion, not the displacement . But a greater string movement has to have a greater velocity, so it is sort of related. End of physics lesson
 2.
...Tiny Tim..
He was a nowhere man, man. https://www.youtube....h?v=w5EcrraNTQo
 3. Not bad, for a guitar band... http://tomcaswell.ne...ey-road-medley/
 4.
I'm going to make it to Liverpool someday one way or the other. And when I get there I'm going to kiss the ground. Blue
Only been once in recent years, stayed at Stu Sutcliffe's place LINK Reasonable rates, friendly owner, big photo of Stu in the breakfast room, if you don't mind bass players on the wall. Kissing the ground was optional. Hope you make it to Liverpool one day.
 5.
I used to drive down Abbey Road fairly regularly, there were always tourists hanging around by the crossing trying to recreate the famous album cover. Cars slow down or stop to let people cross but 99% of them have no intention of crossing so wave the drivers on to pass through. Other cars that are used to it don't even bother to slow down and just assume nobody wants to cross - an accident waiting to happen! 6. Transpose: To put that bass on Ebay, the one you've seriously gassed for, for the previous 18 months. EDIT: Never could understand verbs....
 7. Groove: Those nasty little marks where the round wounds have damaged your shiny smooth frets.
 8. Pretentious: Adjective applied to a bassist (or guitar owner) who has a genuine 'road worn' bass (or guitar) due to the application of thousands of dollars or a bastard file.
 9. Is one allowed to mention Attila the Hun? Mmmmm.... Eccles cakes.
 10.
Yes You are right, the books I checked do specially prohibit lending. I can't see how it could be enforced but why not describe it as a gift ? Recipient then gifts it back
Recent books don't have the lending statement. "No part may be reproduced or transmitted in any form, or by any means, electronic or mechanical...." So you can't send them through the post
 11.
I can't believe this is illegal. I can lend someone my car, FFS...
Books used to have a clause in the copyright statement prohibiting lending, reselling or hired out . This did not apply to the USA. This statement does not seem to be in modern books (post 1980s), maybe a change in copyright law?
 12.
Has anybody tried - or bought, even - an Ibanez GSRM20? I'd be interested in knowing what the quality's like, how it plays and whether it's viable for gigs.....
Gear4Music have the rot beer version on offer at £149, Walnut to order same price.
 13.
You mean Radio 1 plays music?
You bet they do, I distinctly remember walking through the school gates at 8:30, into year 5 room, turning on the valve radio we were allowed, tuned to Radio 1. I can remember Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac, Jimi Hendrix and Status Quo.
 14.
Clearly your tuners are 1:1 ratio Aren't normal ones anything around 20:1? That's 20 turns of the button per complete rotation of the capstan. Times 2 or 3? That's quite a lot of winding.
One of mine is 28:1. I like to put a good 3 turns on for the E + A string angle. Cheap plastic winder has done 10 string changes so far, looking good and avoided using dreaded planet destroying disposable AA batteries, which cost how much?
 15.
Good thread...
Needs to be pinned
 16.
I think he'd probably be moved by it.
Yes indeed, and rather more than the rumor that Kanye West is to do an album of Bowie covers. (I'd forgotten just how good that song is)
 17.
...but what happened in your life for Sellotape to be a problem?
It was all the home taping I did during the 80's, it was killing the music.
 18.
Agreed - I prefer Sellotape.
I have an increasing list of band that if I hear unexpectedly on the radio, have to turn off immediately to prevent brain damage: The Buzzcocks, Oasis, Sting, The Smiths....Sellotape is one of those borderline bands.
 19. Just noticed this, Korg Minilogue... http://www.synthtopia.com/content/2016/01/16/korg-minilogue-synthesizer-review-the-affordable-polyphonic-analog-synth-youve-been-waiting-for/
 20.
PS what is a cookie anyway?
I'm not falling for that question, yer big girl's bloues....oh wait. Oh bugger.
 21.
Sounds like I should buy this Zoom B1. The recording function sounds like it would help me too. Blue
Had thought of getting this but 30 seconds is a bit of a limit. Anyone recommend another looper? Is the TC electronics OK?
 22.
Quite, but at least the original foolishness of the OP has now been totally overshadowed and forgotten, given the witty and pointed posts since. No-one now remembers the idiocy that sparked all of this off. Just as well, I say. Best left to sink from BC's collective conscience; that would be sooooooo much of a relief to us all.
Damn and Blast, it's been archived in the internet archive and will be there for all eternity, or until that bloke in the corduory jacket releases a Trident missile. 24.
My choice here would be Life On Mars. Not just my favourite Bowie song, but one of my favourite songs, full stop. It gives me shivers just to type out the title. S.P.
