1. When asked if 2016 was the worse year ever in rock music, futuristic prophecy popsters Zager and Evans replied (as they entered the studio to record an album of Frank Sinatra covers), "hell no, the worst is yet to come, "
 2.
They're the best blues band to come out of London.IMO Blue
You missed Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac?
 3.
But I do wonder how people get the rhythmic structure of a song from tab.
Like this. But you do end up just remembering patterns, but then I'm too old for anything else. I'd probably still be on page 10 of Ed Friedland's (excellent) course if not for this! EDIT: This is from the Hal Leonard Motown bass book
 4.
He asked for accurate. Whilst tab may well give the correct notes, it won't communicate the rhythm, which, as a bass player in the motown genre, is essential for an accurate line.
The Leonard Motown Classics book is quite good. It has tab and dots. I can read the tab (failed guitar player) and read the rhythm from the dots (failed keyboard player). Don't think I'd be able to do any Jameson from dots alone - too old to learn stuff like that! Bit like learning a foreign language, it just does not register. Tab you find on the internet, without dots, is just useless, best avoided.
 5. Another point about the wood base hangers, the screws are further apart, so less leverage on them and 3 screws close together in a crumbly wall is not so good.
 6. And the winner is..... http://www.vanityfai...=social_twitter EDIT: But does she know the Russian National Anthem?
 7.
The grey powder is probably the inner block, it's very easy to drill and doesn't hold well at the best of time.
Got that awful stuff in my extension. (cheap 1970s addition). threw away the screws supplied with the hanger (Hercules with wood base), drilled out larger holes in the wood, used thicker longer screws, 2 inch I think. Also drilled out the hole in the covering plaster with 10mm drill, so I could push the wall plug flush with the brick surface. I reckon the wood base Hercules are a bit better as it is easier to drill the hole out to fit larger screws. Looks like some sort of (Chinese) oak type wood.
 8. Can't fault my £37 Prog 4 Deko. Doubled the value by fitting TI flats. Battery lasts ages, but it is OK passive. My Fender P spends more time as a 'deko'
 9. Interesting comment from Chris Squire on his pick style (and a great master Class). Starts at 2:40 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cprcYnffK_o
 10. Always thought the Fender Rascal 30 " was a bit overpriced. DV247 have one at 44% off, nice colour too. Slightly wider neck that Squier 30" scale. Never played one, was tempted once, but too expensive. http://www.dv247.com/guitars/fender-classic-player-rascal-short-scale-4-string-bass-guitar-ocean-turquoise--214275?utm_source=mailshot&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=hot-deals-at-dv247-20161125&utm_content=productlink-01
 11.
Can we enforce the "no exposed belt buckles, no metal buttons and no zips" protocol?
Prince Harry helps to eliminate guitar 'buckle rash' http://www.telegraph.co.uk/men/style/buckle-belt-join-tie-menswear-graveyard/
 12.
I think it's a better use of money than than the £369m we're spending on Buckingham Palace.
Tourism will probably pay that back. Music is good for the development of the brain. I think we had a Tambourine at school.
 13.
...but it's also first in line to encounter a particularly careless heavy downward blow
May be the E breaks more often because of this. Also the core of the string takes the most mechanical stress, rather that the thicker overwinding which is only there to add weight to get it to the correct pitch. Check the diameter of the core where it wraps around the ball end - it's not that thick.
 14.
I've have a ex-McCartney Marlin Slammer on eBay soon, from his rare "right hand" period.
Does Macca's right hand R*****f***** ever turn up on eBay? You know, the one they (R***********) presented to him before they found out he was a lefty.
 15.
Its been updated now. 19 year man plays electric bass!
Six years and no GAS, how does he do it?
 16. Yup. All I can say is, I don't get on line much - and the forum search engine is pants!
 17. This must have been posted before? If not here it is, or apologies if otherwise. https://www.youtube....eature=youtu.be
 18.
Get into the habit of 'accidentally' smacking people round the back of the bonce with your headstock. You'll find that your allotted stage space will magically increase...
It's all in the strap. https://youtu.be/-yHowHsFxDA
 19.
Get into the habit of 'accidentally' smacking people round the back of the bonce with your headstock. You'll find that your allotted stage space will magically increase...
Another of Leo's secrets - why he made the headstock bigger than teles or strats, nothing at all to do with those fat strings.
 20. Don't seem to be able to edit my original link....keeps going back to the bloke's home page.
 21. Average age of festival headline acts is getting older. No surprise really. https://twitter.com/paul1kirby/status/734066200980955137
 22.
I don't think the actual grade of felt is the critical part.
I think she mentioned capillary matting felt somewhere (used in horticulture), but it's no good for metal
 23.
I do wonder how much actually gets to the chosen charity?
As it a LLC, you'll never know! How do they handle provenance?
 24.
I made a 3-pole filter kit.....
Can I use a bass body to make the charcoal?
 25.
These are the best I've used:
Never liked that type. When the jaws snap shut it bends stranded wires, maybe I'm not using them correctly. Prefer the manual type (post 1390, orange )
