Sounds like I should buy this Zoom B1. The recording function sounds like it would help me too. Blue
Had thought of getting this but 30 seconds is a bit of a limit. Anyone recommend another looper? Is the TC electronics OK?
Quite, but at least the original foolishness of the OP has now been totally overshadowed and forgotten, given the witty and pointed posts since. No-one now remembers the idiocy that sparked all of this off. Just as well, I say. Best left to sink from BC's collective conscience; that would be sooooooo much of a relief to us all.
Damn and Blast, it's been archived in the internet archive and will be there for all eternity, or until that bloke in the corduory jacket releases a Trident missile.
My choice here would be Life On Mars. Not just my favourite Bowie song, but one of my favourite songs, full stop. It gives me shivers just to type out the title. S.P. Nice phone interview with Rick Wakeman on Radio 4 World At One just now
No it isn't. Consider that the 12th fret is exactly half the scale length. So one half is nut to 12th fret, second half is 12th fret to bridge. Shortscale is 30", so each 'half' is 15". Long scale is 34", so each half is 17". Which means your bridge would need to be moved forward by approx. 2". Assuming the shorter neck fits in the pocket in the exact same way. I think that may be a bit simplistic, but the principle applies. Maybe someone with some science can come along and explain it properly.
No I think you did it properly . Best to avoid the rule of 18, or the twelfth root of 2.

it says a lot when the BBC Radio 3 presenter stops what he is doing to pay tribute, 20 minutes after the family's confirmation. Radio 4 played (part of) Space Oddity a few minutes later, that always reminds me of O level chemistry classes, for some reason.

Mustang Bass Flatwound string recommendations?
pfretrock replied to PaulTMA's topic in Accessories and Misc
I emailed GHS and got no response, so I think I might just take the risk. It does say 31"-32" though. Thanks for the advice - hope they are what I'm looking for.
A link to winding lengths on this post from ET. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/273227-best-flatwound-strings-for-30-scale/page__view__findpost__p__2909037 -
Lemmy would be chuffed. Listen to the interview. He didn't like rock stars who weren't in touch with their fans. He didn't like people who were stuck in a time period and refused to move with the times and evolve. If the fans want an element named and the stuffy scientists don't, that's proper Rock'n'roll (or heavy metal)
Good enough answer for me!

Breaking news! 112,821 ballet dancers sign petition to F̶O̶R̶C̶E̶ request Fender rename the Precision Bass to "Fender Wanye Sleep". I don't believe the term 'Heavy Metal' is used in the context of elements in the periodic table. We need to ask, would Lemmy be chuffed or would he think there were 112,821 assholes. I've no idea, never met the man. But all a bit of fun really, it's not gonna happen is it? EDIT: The four new elements have not been officially named yet.

In Journey into Space, where Lemmy got his name from (according to Emo), the character 'Lemmy' was originally played by David Kossoff (father of Paul) https://en.wikipedia...rney_into_Space

A tribute from Keith Emerson. I had no idea of the origin of the name 'Lemmy' - nothing to do with bank notes apparently. https://www.facebook...?type=3
The fact that pfretrock was arguing in his bedsit with Bruce and his mates demonstrates that quite well.
You're confusing me with someone else. I was with Bruce Forsyth
Is this another of those "you had to be there" topics? Back in the days when I shared a bedroom with Bruce Dickinson (no, really, I did) and one of my favourite albums was Sad Wings Of Destiny, I don't remember us all sitting around wondering what to call this stuff. This was 1979 into 1980, maybe 1981. I was in my early 20s and I was firmly in the "it's heavy rock, man" camp. Several of my then flatmates would routinely argue "don't you get it, this is heavy metal mate". The idea that no one called this heavy metal until the 80s is ludicrous. Maybe you had to be there after all ...
Odd blip in 1945 (wonder why?). In slow decline now. https://books.google...20metal%3B%2Cc0

There are no heavy metals. Element 113 looks good and don't forget the joker. http://www.ptable.com/ Come to think of it, there are no rock'n'roll metals also. Maybe Chromium? (and that is a pretty cool website)
Good call Lojo. Lemmy was utterly sick of telling people they weren't a metal band!
I think you'll find it was a post-transition metal band. Motörhead fans are uninformed.
