1. Im still hankering after one of these!
2. I knew that would go quick. Wow!
3.

I think youd like the TC amps Wayne....very Ampeg-ish tone, and a hell of a lot more. Doesnt have that micro amp 'feel' to it...just tons of volume.
4.
This is my absolute dream bass! Since I first started playing it's been all about a 60's P bass in Lake Placid Blue..... Unfortunately I have nothing to offer PX....If you ever end up selling let me know.... Good luck with it, it's nice reading about a bass that has such personal significance to you Dave
Big +1, I think you will mis it Chris, but DB is calling! If you ever decide to sell on, even though im not that well off, id raid all savings for this beauty.
5. Wow, what a colour!
6. Ahh god damn it. I need one. Which looks better - White/Tort/Rosewood or V Sunburst/V White Pearloid/Rosewood? Has to be SSS.
7. I thought I liked Rays! What a collection, well done
8. Bloomin heck what a thread. I think if you want an Ampeg tone, and dont mind the weight, go for it. They are industry standard. Yep the 8x10 is inefficient, but I doubt most big touring bands care or even notice! Certain things are only achievable with tubes amps. If you like it, do the wise thing and get a lightweight amp as well. That's what I did.
9.
Import it yourself from the US. A lot cheaper (even including postage & VAT). You can even have it "custom built". Check the prices and options here: G&L JB
Well mine comes to just over $1500, thats pretty cheap!
10.
I'm still in lust with it. I'm thinking of ordering one,SSS with maybe pearl blue finish with a black scratchplate. Drooling just thinking about it!
The Bass Merchant have this one in!
11. Ah that quote wasnt an ASAT, it was their new 'original' style Jazz which is nitro painted, and passive etc etc etc. Those ASATS look great.
12.
Thats terrible news. Very sorry to hear this. The price on your Sandberg seems exceptionally generous. Good luck
Big +1, sad news. I have PM'd you.
13.
I love the Big Al shape, I think it's really lovely. It got a superb review in the latest Guitarist mag too. I would have a White body and maple board and white pearl PG. I love the Precision shape too. The ugly looking Fender bass is the Jazz, the offset design is too ugly and bulbous. The P is great but the neck's too fat, the J neck is a great design. The Big Al neck is too fat like P Bass. The Stingray body is too round. Your shoes are the wrong colour and your stone cladding is sh*t.
Hahah! Ill have to find that Guitarist Mag review. Im thinking of reordering one in White or V Sunburst. White looks stunning I agree.
14. Does it have a hardcase?
15. I can understand people might think the Bongo and Big Al are 'radical', but then again, I dont think boutique basses with expensive exotic wood tops are very nice to look at. I can see why they would be great at what they do, but the whole aesethics just scream 'boring' to me. Apaprently, and Ive no idea how true this is, but the Bongo has been a massive success. I tried one unplugged, and yes the shape is odd, but the quality at the price bracket was phenomenal.
16.
Don't rule out the Tributes. Made in the Far East with US pickups and electrics. Great sound and build quality. Think Lakland Skyline. List is about £600 these days but you can pick one up online for about £450. And they don't weigh a ton.
Thanks. These are the basses made in the same factory as Cort and Lakland aren't they? Weird how Cort and G&L make them at such low prices, then Lakland charge as much as Fender!
17. ASAT looks fantastic! Had a rough quote from the UK dealer.....wow, expensive for a posh-passive Jazz. I bet they are incredibly well made, but its a lot to stump up for an instrument Ive never even seen. We are talking over £2100 retail (ok the stores would be quite a bit below this I realise!).
18. I realise its a strange shape, but Im actually a big fan.
19. Two horns?! Woah.
20. Personally I'd keep it stock and try getting used to it. A light body is something of a rarity
21. Hmm, strange one this. Have you asked on talkbass? Seems weird. Have you tried other basses/cables/everything else?
22. Ah bugger if I was only in London! This is what I was looking for!
23. Just refreshing this thread in advance of thinking about the Big Al vs Reflex. 30th Birthday looming in 6 months and I still cant get the Big Al out of my head! Nice comparison btw, GW.
24. I checked my photos I dont think this is my ex-bass but it still looks awesome
