I think the prices on the MB range are great, and some of the weights are truely lightweight, instead of just 10lbs less than the ceramic version and twice the price, like some manufacturers seem to do. However, im not sure about the MB range reliability for the latest models.

Seriously. I was a little sceptical, but once I tested the 4 SSS version, it said 'buy me'. One of the coolest bass innovations in a while.

Hartke, Gallien or the Ampeg combos. The Hartke LH heads are FANTASTIC value.

Good catalogue, but Im not keen on their bass selection. Nice to see an Omar signature guitar.

I think Ashdown have really got their act together the last few years. Very impressive lineup.

I think it might be best for you to be in charge and find a drummer, then form a band. Its YOUR band then, and you decide If its originals, its more fund with old friends IMO.

I like it, but its a colour that you cant get rid of at all. The TC at 8 ohms will probably POUND most other micros at that setting due to the voicing/wattage rating between companies....TC have been extremely 'honest' about those watts. Dont ever think that 450W wont compete with the Genz 900W, as most people think they are virtually the same amount of watts! Thats voicing for you, and ratings. In addition, the TC amp can be pushed and pushed at its loudest points and it will just keep giving like a tube amp. The Markbass will clip like a solidstate which isnt pleasant. No idea how the TC tube emulation works in a digital amp, but then again they invented the Polytune which again baffles me because it actually works so well!

LM2/3 with Sansamp BDDI pedal = win TC RH450 or Classic 450 = win Not tried the Ibanez, but its a bargain! Orange Bass Terror = I think in your case, win Not sure which Id take...hmm. Honestly, if I were in your shoes and had the cash for any of them, RH450 ALL the way. Stunning amp. There is nothing wrong with the rest, but the RH450 just tips it.

I auditioned for a great band up here (unpaid). They were very good, but then again, the basslines were just very simple and solid. I nailed it, and the backing harmonies, and me and the guitarist had a awesome gear chat. They seemed very happy. They said they had another guy who they had known for a while trying out....apparently he wasnt that great on bass though. Guess who got it? Yep, the guy they knew, despite his 'I am guitarist trying to be a bassist' which I cant stand. I wouldnt have minded if they were polite, but the singer has me on facebook and I messaged him hoping he was well etc, and asked who they eventually went with (I knew, but I wanted an explanation). I got nothing back. My girlfriend thinks they are the type that ride the coat tails of large bands but never make it. They are a bit on the lazy side, but a very tight band. Shame, as the drummer and me could have established a 'proper' rhythm section. Most guitarists I know, unless they are very observant, dont understand why bass works as it does and its importance. One of my friends DOES get it, and I hope to get a band going with him back home within the next month as hes super slick on guitar.

Dont worry, I think its quite common and nothing to do with you. The more bands there are, the ruder people become. If its not a 'job' and just for fun, I dont understand why its so hard work to find something. Im off back to my old band now. Luckily there is space for me.

They seem to be a good price, more in line of what an import bass should be. Ive tried the 55-02 and wasnt immediately taken back by it, but it was a nice bass. Just watch out for weight and large neck pockets....youll find a good un if you try a few. Although you cant expect too much at that price level. The MM style pup for me onm the 55-02 was nowhere near as full on as an actual MM bass, but as youll probably realise I like MMs a lot.

Adds a character to the sound but you dont have to have the grit, (although I have some!). Probably the best pedal for bass Ive used apart from the Aguilar Tone Hammer.

I like both, and both options have their advantages. A passive Fender type bass sounds amazing, lets face it, but sometimes the output can be a little 'soft'. It depends on your setup. An active bass (mine are all EBMM) just have HUGE punch, and massive tone even with the lightest touch. This might not apply to all active basses, but you know what I mean. Playing style and strings help to change both. Eg, stick flats on a Ray and play with your fingers / cut the treble = instant old school tones....nothing like the usual snarl and bite. My recent EBMM Big Al experience was fantastic, and the passive/active option with a passive tone control is the icing on the cake. Therefore, I cannot vote haha.
