1. Mine is at home waiting for me!
2. Stunning basses. Probably the easiest smoothest 5 string bass I've played. I had been eyeing them up for over 10 years, and I finally decided to trust my instincts, ignore the hype on new 5 string models from the latest companies, and managed to get a very very light 5 HS model.
3. Totally depends on taste. Alnico is warmer, more vintage sounding like a Ray 4. The ceramic is in the Sterling and now Sterling 5s and is more modern, brighter, more aggressive.
4. I specifically asked for one via email with the bag and cable/strap, and I asked for rosewood. My sonic blue bass should be with me on Monday! Mint. My guitarist just mentioned (now I've joined my old band again) that they've literally just got endorsed by Orange. Now I'm excited!
5. IMO, lovely, but the MIJ basses are getting to silly high prices now. Ive had one, and it was a belter, but id not go so far as to say it was as good as a MIA, (obviously a good MIA) and nowadays the prices are getting very close. Back when I bought mine, the MIJ was probably the equivalent price of a MIM.
6.
Sonic blue P on the way in.......could be a craze starting. Even made a donation......hope everyone else did!
Thats 3 im counting so far. £60 with a gigbag?! Thats serious value, plus the colour is a nice one.
7. Thanks! I knew if I waited id find a new p copy for cheap, ordered the Sonic Blue...perfect for the upcoming hardcore punk tour! Cheers. Ps - Bog off £300 new CV Squier!!
8. What is the normal stock CV P pickup like?
9.
My 25th Anniversary HSS 5 string
I also want one of these!
10. Far too cheap!
11. Now I want a Classic Ray again.
12. Hmm, at that price id definitely try as many as possible. Test the Berg, see if you like it. Plenty of other options, although as mentioned id probably also recommend trying GS112s or DB112s.
13. Budget? Roughly?
14. Im sorry I cant make this, but I imagine its going to be an amazing tribute to Si/Old Git. RIP Si.
15.
I always leave mine in the hard case when I'm not using it, stands are fine as someplace to put it down while your playing but leaving them on one permanently, anything could happen, it falls off the stand , hits the ground nut first an ..... well rest is history (possibly along with your bass to)
Same here. Hardcase for storage and transport unless I can keep hold of the bass during transport, then its the Mono Padded Lightcase.
16.
77 ray
WOWWWW
17.
you won't be disappointed will look good on that tour are you doing it btw?
Definitely am! Even moving home for a year before the career kicks off to spend time with the band/music etc. Lovely bass!
18. Bloody hell I want this!
19.
We know it is now but I'm disappointed that there is no mention of the chip in the body that has a chunk of paint off down to the wood... immaculate to me means pretty much 'immaculate' NOT chipped!
Heck. I still want a Bongo...
20.
There's the problem: The two at the top of my list, I can't just go to a shop and audition. I could go on the travelling super twelve list (if there is a super twelve doing the rounds) but don't want to do that until I've got the head I want. Realistically I'm not going to get the Matamp as it will just give me GAS for a matching GT200.
Matamp and BF are VERY different. If you want the whole Matamp/tube vibe, go for it with Matamp....im sure they will do you a deal on the amp and cabinet.
21.
Yes indeed. Have you tried a Super Twelve?
No, not as yet, but the same reasons as Sk8. I would be willing to try one out if I was guaranteed I could sell it on and the BF brand was still going strong in 4-6 years (not saying it wont be!) and that it has the aesthetics and 'finishing' that's on my others cabs. I am a very vain person. Hahah. This is going way off topic!
22.
Here we go. Case in point. Do less hearing about. Do more test driving and hear the things for yourself!
+1...this is the only way to see if you like it!
23. Nice to see a selection of colours. Good idea overall to release a cheaper version
24. Oh heck this topic is best 2x12 which is subjective! Lets not turn this into yet another basschat BF vs everything else thread. The BF 2x12 might be right for the OP, but it might not, suggestions are great, but lets not say 'THIS IS THE GREATEST' as it might not be for their tonal goals. Not everyone cries about weight! If the BF cabs are your favourite, and you are posting about them, why dont you own one?! Play nice...
25. As mentioned, price is a massive factor. Do you mind spending £800 or more? Also, look into resale value. Personally, I'd go for Aguilar again, GS112x2 or GS212, or DB112 x 2 or DB212. Both are tried, tested, and respected worldwide which means resale value is great.
