  1. Back injuries are usually caused by over reaching with too heavy a load. I chose Markbass separates because the cab is easier to get in and out of my smallish car than the combo. Wrestling with even a lightweight cab is increasing the risk of further injury. I recon the extra cost was worth it for me! Cheers, Mick. :-)
  2. Simon, I'll try some of your suggestions at our jam tonight!!! I've even printed it out so the others (the ones who won't turn down on stage!!) can absorb your pearls of wisdom!! Cheers, Mick.
  3. Right, EQ set flat (12 O'clock) VLE and VPF both full right (5 O'clock) = a very full rounded sound good for blues etc. VLE and VPF 12 O'clock and EQ flat = more modern sound, good for Metallica and various rock and metal stuff. VLE and VPF full left (7 O'clock) = very bright, thin and twangy, Slap syle!!! And don't forget that's without even touching the EQ or your guitar tone and pickup selector!!!! I suggest checking out some of the youtube Markbass demo's as some of them are very informative. Have fun. Cheers, Mick.
  4. I tend to use the VLE and my tone and pickup selector to get what sound I want. Using my Yamaha BB414 with roundwounds, through a LM3 and Traveller 102P cab. If I want the VLE all the way left or right, then I'll probably adjust the VPF the same direction as the VLE as well. For most sounds I tend to have the EQ mildly scooped. Works for me Cheers, Mick. P.S. Don't forget to set the gain so it doesn't clip. I've found that basses vary enormously in output and so do peoples playing styles!!
  5. Funnily enough, I've just had exactly the same problem with my LM3. It was being used at our jam night on Thursday when it just died. I tracked it down to the small fuse on the power inlet and fitted the spare one, which blew immediately again!!!! I phoned Promenade music in Morecambe where I bought it from and they said they would have it collected for repair. As I fancied a run out, we took it up there today and without asking I was given a courtesy amp to use until mine is repaired. 6. I'm very impressed with my Markbass Traveller 102P. Easy to carry and very punchy, much more so than the Markbass 151 I tried at the same time. Having said that, I haven't tried any of the boutique cabs to compare it to, but I'm happy with my purchase. Cheers, Mick.
  7. The Markbass cab has arrived and I'm running out of space type bump!!!
  8. Bought from a nice bloke on here (Bob Stockton) about 18 months ago. Has been used for home practice and jam nights. Never let me down. No damage apart from a few minor scratches on the painted metal corners., looks tidy. Plenty loud enough for pub gigs when run at 4 Ohms. I would keep it, but I've bitten the bullet and bought a Markbass LM3, so it has to go. £100, no trades thanks. Would prefer collection, but can deliver local to Manchester. From the Laney website.
