I STILL get the 'ahh a Musicman, that must have set you back a bit'. Even my new drummer knows they are a cut above the norm (when they get it right!).

Nice. Yep they make Laklands as well, but for a LOT more money...which makes no sense.

Great news guys. Darren @ Bass Merchant has been very helpful and I have a new 3EQ Sunburst/Maple on its way for Wednesday in exchange for the 2EQ. I havent had a maple boarded bass for a while, and this will be the only one, but its good to have some variety I will eventually get another 2 EQ...but to be honest Ive always like both pre-amps, so no real biggie for me.

It was great fun! Well, I've basically said I want a new bass (they have a few close to the spec in stock) even if it means a 3eq. It's either that or go down the refund route, but to be honest I just want a working bass. This 2eq was pristine, I've only had it a few months, and to develop faults and still be faulty after a repair is just not acceptable when they cost so much. Hopefully by weds I'll have a new replacement. I'll let you know.

I've requested a replacement for Weds so I can use it Thurs and Sat. We shall see! Thanks chaps...appreciated! I'll definitely be looking into what 1x12s are around.

I wanted to use my 2 band Ray, which came back from EBMM UK with the SAME fault...so Im asking for a replacement bass or refund. Its virtually brand new and shouldnt have shielding problems. So, I used the Sue Ryder P Bass! To be fair, it sounded like a P should... Next gig, something better!

I played a gig where a 4x10 was total overkill last night. Im thinking of picking one of these up....but also thinking a nice 1x12 cab would be more suitable!

After failing for a fair while to find a band I felt I wanted to put my efforts into, and leaving my originals band very promptly AGAIN after a disastrous tour, it was about time something went right. Ive been practicing for 3 weeks for a drummer I know from my school days, and we are backing an acoustic artist. At first we stuck to the songs as they were recorded, but we all quickly realised putting our own spin on it worked better. So its almost like covers, but slightly rewritten for acoustic/bass/drums. Obviously the main sections and vocals are still there. We also have a few of our own songs that are creeping in. At the moment its only a 1 hour set, but the guitarist goes out on his own doing upto 30 songs, so basically once we are upto speed we will have plenty of material. Not only that, we want to incorporate his electric guitar on a few tracks just to give it a little more 'ummpph' on the tracks that it works well on. Working in a band with 3 people in total is so much easier! We practice for free in the drummers sound proofed garage, so its such a good setup! First gig last night. I was told it was a charity event, and they had sold 700+ tickets. I didnt know what to expect. As it was a breast cancer charity event, they had basically changed a farm building into a huge pink stage/bar/function area, and the actual look of the event was extremely professional! I couldnt believe it was our first gig as a band. Anyway, I could go on for hours. It was absolutely brilliant. Our guitarist had to help out because one of the bands 'pulled out', so he went on first as a solo artist. Then, he went back on with myself and the drummer. As soon as we started, the place erupted! I literally couldnt believe how well we went down, plus we barely made any mistakes. Every dancing/singing along was a great feeling after all the rubbish ive been through in my last few bands. We got more bookings, and a non-bassist complimented my playing....which was a great confidence boost. By the way, I used the headlining bands amp (a Hartke Head/4x10). The Hartke sounded DAMN fine, I was impressed. I can see why they get praise. The 4x10 was overkill though, I couldnt get it quiet enough because of the volume taper! I think a 1x12 would have happily worked for the band....GAS!

I was going to raise the same topic as this. Im getting on with 5ers, although not ready to gig them. I now also want a fretless, and was thinking a Stingray... How difficult is it?

Definitely thinking about Markbass combos for my new band....!

I have rehearsed a few times with an RS210 and LM3. Myself, two loud guitarist, drummer. We were a punk band, so lots of volume. No problems with sound levels...if you just want it as an onstage monitor, ita perfect.

Its been back to S&T in the UK, and they should know how it works as do you. It seems they have done very little with it, apart from send it round the country. I think the shielding paint has been missed, or the pickup/preamp is faulty, so Im going to get A) a new bass or B ) a refund.

Good luck![/quote] Apparently the TC amp is on its way. To be fair, TCs service has been stunning. I will make a post about this soon. I even got a message on my phone from Uffe himself, and then an email following it up. The mute pop may be normal, it depends on what the other units are like, but as it was brand new, and had a scuff on the underside even though the amp was sealed in the box, Im playing it safe and getting another.

As per some other threads ive been reading, ive been told more than likely its a shielding issue (a lack of of it). Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE says it should be silent if the actual power supply is healthy and earthed, which it is as my other basses, including the Ray 5 HS, is silent. Even the SR P Bass is silent. Basically, I think the UK importers are going to say 'thats normal', when, ahem, we all know it isnt. Everytime you touch the metal on the bass....click click click....a bass this price should be near perfect. Well, after all this, im not going to stand for it. They either offer me a new bass or a refund, or ill take it further.

Bass back, hand prints, dusty! Apparently it was a dry solder joint on the battery...hmmm....well that's not helpful. Bass is exactly the same...noisy and clicky compared to all my other gear. Don't know what they've done but I'm going to the store to get either a refund or a new bass. Really really annoyed now.
