1. No, I totally understand. TC gear isn't for everyone. The lows are quite attunated on the RH amps though, (a bit like an Ampeg 8x10) so it slams with a low mid thud and kick, but its not been boomy for me. However, we all have different experiences.
 2.
What do find the differences are? I'm interested as I have rig restlessness. No reason for this really as the LMll Schroeder combination is fine, but you know how it is.
I am lucky to have the Streamliner 900 (sold my LM3 to get this), RH750 and Shuttlemax 9.2. All of them have their own tone profile, but they are all well built, and are going nowhere! Streamliner - Very tubey and thick tone. Warm, but with a lot of precision in the high end. Huge low end push from this amp! Very powerful. Goes from ultra squeaky clean to rock n roll grit, Shuttlemax - Cf to the Streamliner, it is more mid orientated. Less lows, more cutting and sharp, more clear and very very flexible. It will grit, and the clean channel is a solid state fan's dream, (reminds me of my TE 400 SMX). The cleans are SUPER clean. Lots of volume of tap, lots of features, great pedal, ridiculous amount of EQ control. You can fatten it up with the tone controls. RH750 - Superb quality, great slick feature set, very loud, and the tone is more low mid kick orientated. Quite a warm tone, and you can add the highs with the tweetertone knob. Stupidly good for flexibility. The pedal is a great addition. I can't choose a favourite.
 3. No info on whether a Sabre 5 string is due, but the Levin Classic is in 4 and 5 string format.
 4.
What's the difference between this and say the Classic 4? I hope they don't end up doing a Fender, putting out multiple models of the same product with different names and with varying degrees in price! Good news about the Sabre though, nice they're going to bring it back.
Just the paint job from what I can see...but it may have some other changes.
 5. News here: http://forums.ernieball.com/music-man-basses/54787-tony-levin-sledge-stingray-classic.html Hell has frozen over....we have a Sabre reissue!
 6. I have the Max 9.2 and RH750. Totally different but both great in their own way.
 7.
Hi Guys Thought I'd report back with some good news. I contacted Orange and they had my OTB collected via Courier last Monday. I then emailed they guy this Monday for an update and he replied stating my OTB was ready for collection and should be with me the next day. To my delight a Courier delivered my OTB yesterday as the guy promised. I used the head last night and it was back to it's former glory. I've gotta say I was really impressed with the customer service I received from Orange. I didn't have to haggle with them once, just a few emails and my OTB was collected, fixed and delivered back to me in 8 days without even a mention of any money changing hands. Can't argue with that. But still not sure what the actual problem was, still, all's well that ends well
Orange service is excellent. I got free tubes on an out if warranty Dual Terror.
 8.
Thanks! So age doesn't come into it then, and a 2009 HS is 4-band just like the new ones? Sorry I forgot to mention its age earlier. best, bert
Yep!
 9.
Thanks, DrT! But is the HS a 4-band? I bought it as being a 3-band. best, bert
HS Ray is 3 band, as are all of the 2 pickup Rays, and most H Rays....although you can get the older 2 band circuit. H Bongo's are 3 band unless you get a Piezo added, which adds the extra making it 4 band plus piezo. All HS HH Bongo's are 4 band.
 10.
For what it's worth, I've heard that the power stage in the Fender Rumble 350 is identical to the one in the Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0. Fender rate it at 350W, GB at 600W... Eude
There is plenty of debate over these modules. I think the key is that GBenz really know how to make a module give its all with clever technology and cooling methods. I would be quite interested to see the 900 watt GB amps tested. The Streamliner is an absolute volume hammer though.
 11.
So i called a retailer friend of mine, he said warwick had made it impossible to be a dealer by insisting that dealers all carried pretty much one of everything, including the very pricey sig' models! He said they had effectively screwed themselves in the UK and he works for one of the bigger shops out there!
Very odd. I never realised it had hit that extreme. Warwick are a very odd company.
 12. If you want an ultra small and fairly grunty mini rig, I'd look at the TC BH250 amp and a small cabinet, or indeed a Gallien MB200. If you are going for higher power, I'd personally suggest: RH750 RH450 Genz Streamliner 600/900 Genz Shuttle 6.2 or 9.2 (or Max 9.2) Markbass LM3 I've used all of those, apart from the lower powered Genz units. The Markbass is great but they have a poor customer support system. TC and Genz have great support.
 13. That is a nice paintjob! Cool bass.
 14.
You bugger...do I want to move my Bergs for these..??
If I was closer Id be coming to check out the Bergs!
 15. Didn't you previously use to Schroeder cabs? I imagine that mid punch from the Schroe's is something you got used to. I think the issue might be the Jazz itself...if you are favouring both pups on full you are creating a mid dip already, then the amp might be slightly scooped unless you set the mids to ten. Not sure about the cab. It's kinda why I love the Jazz but don't use them as often as say a Ray. I think there is a an EBS pedal that can help with this issue.
 16. Hi all This is on behalf of a friend. I can provide his details if you are interested in buying. Mint condition, bought in March 2012, not gigged and barely used. My friend is a vocalist who took up more guitar work. He no longer needs such a beast of an amp, and in fact he hasn't played with the amp at a gig due to being busy singing in other projects. Details here: http://www.orangeamp...verb-200w-head/ This amp can be used with BASS or GUITAR. He wants £900.00 ONO plus courier of about £20.00 - £25.00. The amp is based in Grimsby, North East Lincs. Please PM me for information.
 17.
My understanding is that genuine tail lift has not been a problem on Rickenbacker basses manufactured in recent years (although maybe someone will come aliong that has had a recent problem). Besides an issue with a batch of Midnight Blue around ten years ago, I'm not aware of any bad paint jobs recently either. Out of interest, what is it about the necks that you are referring to? A friend of mine who is a bit of a guitar collector thinks that my Ricks (at least the ones I've owned from new) have the best finishes he's ever seen on a guitar or bass. They seem to be the bass everyone loves to hate, but I've never had problems with any of mine and three of them are my three favourite basses. Maybe I've been lucky.
I've played 3-4 over my 16-17 years as a bassist, (started when I was about 14). I absolutely LOVE the style of the Ric basses. I also think the tone is unique and fantastic. Everyone of them I played just seemed awkward. The neck seemed more guitar like to me, and I don't know why...weird. The last one I played was a new 2011 model in a store. Super cool looking bass, but the neck....totally weirded me out. I am not that fussy with necks either, but something felt weird. The tail lift seems to be very common. It would worry me enough not to get one...it depends on how good the UK supplier is with the warranty. I can't comment on the paintwork, only that it seems quite fussy. I'd still like one...
 18.
Especially now that RIC has gone to CNC for most of its production and changed to a UV-cured finish instead of the older CV finish, QC at RIC is the best it has ever been, and continues to get even better. If a player bashes a quality instrument in a thrash band, no guarantees. If it's treated well like the fine instrument it is, then as with my three instruments, all three now over 30 years old, a 320 JG, a 360-12WB FG ckbd, and a 4002, then I've had no problems except what I brought on myself.
Tail lift? Bad paintwork? I love their basses but the necks and the fact they won't sort the bridge problem just seems crazy.
 19.
couldn't handle the sparkle...... but I need to see what happens with this ...
+1. Cool history but its only a P Bass. Over engineering a P Bass ruins the fun.
 20. The main reason I love Ernie Ball Musicman basses comes down to tone. If you don't love the Ray tone, I'd leave it be.
 21. There is no excuse to not be able to change some tone with technique, I agree, but I don't see any harm with dropping the treble and boosting the mids...that is what it is there for...to change things a little. Having small changes to your onboard bass EQ won't make a massive difference unless you crank the bass...the crowd/etc won't notice a thing. The Sandberg EQ has got a lot to live upto for me because I personally think the Musicman EQ is the best onboard EQ I've used. Simple and effective, even on the 4 band versions.
 22.
Why do you even need EQ? The sound is just fine with everything flat!
If its there, I like to use it....after using Musicman basses for years I like to be able to change the settings quickly.
 23. Yet another Sandberg thread! Can anyone comment on the upgrade to a 3 band EQ? I am very much a fan of having control of mids, so to me the 3 band seems a no brainer. Does anyone own a Sandberg with the 3 EQ system? I am considering a VM4 or VM5 at the moment, and I have the colour/fretboard decisions out the way, but I need to consider the EQ section.
