1. Markbass NY122, Genz NX2 (the new 2x12) or my favourite, the Aguilar DB212.
2. I'd just get them to give you a new amp! That will take value off your amp and you have no idea if its damaged anything inside.
3. Did that arrive new with that dent?!
4. Look great, sound great, not great QC, weird ergonomics.
5. I popped to Soundslive this afternoon to have a look at their latest stock. Some nice gear! In particular, a Stingray 5 H Piezo in some sort of teal/trans light blue. It was LOVELY. But, it was fretless. No lines. It looks AMAZZZZZZZZING! I doubt I could even play it...still getting used to 5 strings, but fretless as well?!
6. I'd get the RS210. Much better tweeter than the piezo in the Mbass.
7. I kinda wish I still had my two DB212s...I sold those to Higgie to get the 4 ohm single DB212. I'd quite like another pair haha.
8. I've seen the 121P for £670 ish on European sites!
9. Flea is my favourite bassist for slap. Like he puts it, the energy of punk rock with the funk feel.
10. JTUK has a pair of DB210s which he speaks very highly of. If the Aguilar cabs were as easy to get hold of as they used to be when the Bass Merchant was with Darren, I'd have a pair of the DB112's as well as my DB212....no idea why!
11. I would try as many as possible. Aguilar DB410? It's a shame Berg don't make the AE line; their product lineup now is far too small.
12. If you need a lot of volume, opt for two DB212s or DB410s. I have still yet to find a cab I prefer over the DB12 sound.
13. I've had a quote on a custom 15/6 with tweeter, in tolex with metal corners...not bad...considering the high end drivers used. My only worry is that these might be too large in the low end for my tastes....but I would like to try one asap.
14. All of these designs are Fearful spec so therefore fully tested...or so I'm told.
15. I have the RH750 with two RS210s. Absolutely love this setup. By the way, you get speakons with each cabinet in the box!
16. Personally for me, the idea of a well designed 15 with 6 and Tweeter gives you everything you'd need, plus I'm guessing you can have customised tolex/corners/front cloth etc, which appeals to me.
17.
Wow, that's pretty cool! I personally like the changes, I much prefer a simpler EQ section. The limiter would be cool too, as I do occasionally over power the front section and have had the speaker fart out a bit on those "how loud does this thing really go" moments... I just don't understand why they didn't make a 12" version I don't think the head is removable anymore, and the tilt back stand looks like it might be missing too. These are both pretty major selling points, I think the fact that they aren't mentioned means they aren't there... Eude
They should have made a 12 inch cab version with a variables tweeter and the same 500 w head with a few tweaks. I'd pay good money for that!
18.
I couldn't see the prices for the finished cabs...
Me neither. I've sent an email.
19. Hi I am settling into a new job, and now I can see that I HAVE to be in a band despite how busy my career is. I am currently practicing with a few friends, but nothing will come of that for some time as we are all based in different areas. So, I'm looking for something based in Newcastle/close surrounding areas. Originals/covers, not really fussed. Open to ideas. Not fussed about age range. PM me on here for details.
20.
Just a general point, since upon touched on it... Too much bass/bottom end sucks the life out of any tone, IMO A case in point..and maybe to an extreme, would be dub-bass or sub so I'd suggest you want a cab that can get those low B's sounding powerful and punchy...but defined so you don't need an inherently bass-orientated cab, IMO.
Agreed. I'm much more in favour of a very tight defined low B. The wall shaking lows can go out the PA....I don't want it behind me.
21. Hi all My fingerstyle has developed a lot over the past 2-3 years. I was primarily a rock pick player for 13-14 years, then I figured 'heck, I need to play fingerstyle', so I did....it just naturally worked out after 3-4 months of leaving the pick alone. Flea is one of the reasons I love bass guitar so much. I love his tone, no matter what bass he uses. He came from a very similar playing background to me, eg playing fast punk. The Chili's are a great band, and at the moment I'm trying to get used to playing as fast as he does. Can you recommend anything for getting that really aggressive fingerstyle that he pulls off? Is it just sheer practice at Chili type songs? I'm getting there...some of them are easier than I thought. By The Way sounds awesome played along with the recording.
22. Well, originally I wasn't going to try this route, but now I've read into it a little more, I might be interested in one of these. Especially in a custom finish.
23. Me thinks this might go down quite well over here...
