1.
Being in Brighton I think it would be cool if you had one of each Barefaced Cab on display, since they are from Brighton too. Not a lot of people really know about BF cabs and they are good....
Only problem with that is Alex then has to deal with GAK, who obviously have to make a profit, which could mean its difficult to make the cabs the same price as direct from BF. I suppose they could sort something out though. I never knew you guys had a wall of Musicman basses!
2. Grab one from Synergy. They match Thomann prices.
3. I'd leave the RS212 as it is....and buy another. 250W through a 4x12 is a LOT of noise...watts don't really matter compared to adding shed loads of speakers.
4. Bargain.
5.
Hope no-one minds me asking this here.... There was a bit of marketing hoo-hah earlier this year when fender announced that all the new Am. Stds would have 'Custom Shop Vintage 60's pickups'. Anyone know if this was just marketing or if the pickups became more old-school in tone ? Or, indeed, would a modern (I gather they got a lot better around 2008) Am. Std P have what's considered an old-school tone anyway without the alleged pickup tweak ? Yeah, I know, I should go out and play one ....
I've not tried the 2012 pups yet. It's easy to notice though; 2008-early 2012 = flush pole pieces, 2012 onwards = raised pole pieces.
6. Honestly, respect to the guy, and I love a bit of tasteful slap, but that was awful. Ridiculous mic, poor vocals, and the bass was typically scooped. I watched it with the Mrs and she said straight away 'all I can hear is high end pingy noises...the rest is lost'. He is the man for slap I guess, but I don't like how the slap was forced into bridges etc. Much prefer Flea...sorry.
7. What do these actually do?! I used a Zoom years back and found it a bit flimsy...
8. Hope you are alright Pete!
9.
epic badly broken wrist fail only an hour after purchasing!
Whattt? Hope you are alright!
10.
Thanks everyone, I wondered if Aguilar would come up at all, there on our maybe list. If a few more people give them a mention I'll push harder to get them in. Pretty much expected the Lakland, Sandberg, we'll try to get both of them in, but when we stocked Lakland before they didn't really sell. Is Sadowsky on any more people's wish list? I'll have a butchers at Godin, I've not really considered them. We have a wall full of Musicman, so we're all geared up there. Genz Benz we have buckets of at the moment, they're doing really well. Warwick, we are already a dealer for, and we do intend to get them lining our shelves again for the new year. EBS are just up the road from us, so I was going to consider them very strongly. thanks everyone, it does really help to get some opinions, so thanks for taking the time.
If you can do Sadowsky but bring the Metro UK retail price down, they'd sell quite well. Lakland basses are great, but I've noticed GuitarGuitar have the exact same Lakland basses in...eg been on display for a LONG time. Aguilar...without a doubt. Hardly any Aguilar gear in the UK and its fantastic.
11. Aguilar, Genz Benz, Musicman (more stock).
12. Fantastic amp Pete. IMO it's the jewel in Genz's crown! That solid state channel is superb.
13. Lovely! But I just don't get on with that colour or indeed black on bass guitars. Rather dull. Super cool bass though.
14. Is there anything else past the classic P placement, JJ (60s/70s) placements, or H Ray placements? They are the classics. Its odd how nothing else has come along to add to that (and I mean as in it had had huge popularity).
15. Hi! The Classic Stingray is a re-make of the older earlier Rays, with the earlier and more modern features on one bass. All of them are 2EQ. The Stingray is either 2 or 3 EQ...and is cheaper, but the normal type you will see. 2 vs 3 EQ is a difficult one. I love mid control so I like the 3 band. They sound similar but the 3EQ I THINK has more hi mids when set flat. Side by side you'd be pushed to hear much difference. These £1000+ ish 2EQ models are the same, but limited colours and no proper case, (I personally don't dig black that much, and red or blue aren't my favourite colours for basses).
16. I always find it a shame that the majority of bass stores are based down south. I understand they probably need to be there to get the 'London' area, but it'd be great to have one closer up NARTTTHHH. I await the 'drive down'/'get a train'...but city centre living means I sold my car as it was just rusting away sucking up money. Plus I work long hours in the week so the weekend is spent getting on with other things. Argh. Such is life. I'd love to get to Bass Gear. Some great gear in stock. I also keep thinking about ordering a set of DB112s...
17. Apparently, it is said over on the EBMM forum, it was around $10,000.00 on GC's Platinum site. No idea if this is da truth. No idea what that would work out as once you've imported it. But, you could quite easily go over on a holiday and bring it back through customs and chance it.
18. Word has it that it was sold in the USA recently for quite a lot less than that.
19. Hi all! I am feeling like my bass setup is almost complete...there are a few things I like the look of but I am considering getting some more guitar gear. I think its safe to say bass is always number one for me, but im intrigued by a few guitars recently. I have a lovely USA Tele, but I'd like to get a nice guitar with humbuckers. My dream would be a Musicman Albert Lee HH, but they are very expensive. I've just seen that there are Ltd versions of the SG Standard (they proper USA Gibson's with a hardcase) in Vintage Sunburst. YUM! I've wanted an SG for years, but I rarely get time to play guitar, and I rarely get time to play bass! I'm very tempted to pick one up and start dedicating 30 mins every few days to getting better on guitar as I'm out of practice with it. They are currently a very good price of £800. £800!!! Has anyone played one? The main differences seem to be the amazing colours, the thicker neck (I like a thick Tele neck and I love a thick P bass neck this is no issue) and the fact the board is baked maple. I'd love to hear your views. Cheers Gareth
20. With Fender, (and with all businesses, especially larger ones like this) its ALWAYS about the money.
21. Probably either a P/J on a P body or just a P, Olympic or yellowing White, NOT AGED, vintage tint neck, dark rosewood board, light as they can make it, the modern AS bridge, and a thicker poly than they currently use (probably not nitro for me). 62 reissue pup for the P. Nothing out of the ordinary really. I'd expect the quality to be SUPERB though.
22. Nice rare bass there! Seems a fairly decent price for how rare it is. It all depends how genuine it is. I used to have a lovely Natural/maple board Ray, (my first gateway drug to the world of Musicman) and I must admit I do miss it. If it was a variant of something I have already (eg it was a 2 band instead of 3) I would have kept it. IMO, the Stingray is the peak of Leo's designs. The P and J are fantastic, but the Ray really does it for me.
23. It's a shame i'm not in York for a while as I'd like to try the 1288 Quad.
24. Personally I think the MB yellow is pretty cool. Then again, as much as I love a nice 3TS or white bass, I also like a bright orange one....nothing wrong with having something that stands out.
25. It could be a new American Standard in a walnut finish that I've seen in Soundslive. Quite an impressive look, but not my thing. Think they are about £1050 if you haggle.
