1.
I can play any style of music with my Sadowsky and it sounds great. I have zero GAS for any other bass brand.
+ 1 I'm having the neck "glossed" on my UV70 - (just think a 70's Jazz should have a glossy neck) , i'm havinbg the work done by Dave Wilson who does the finishing on Stefan Sobel's £20k acoustics..... it won't be a fender "dipped in lacquer sticky as anything" jobbie like the USA 75 Reissues.... You get my Sadowsky when you prize it from my cold dead hands......
2. I've been really blessed with owning some of the nicest precisions and Jazzes around..... eg see Custom Shop Ltd Ed 1958 (1 of 100) in Avatar You know what ? the best precision sound i've heard is from the neck pup of my sadowsky UV70 with a little bit of treble added for bite !! P tone to die for !!
3.
Damn..wow.. that was amazing!! :| Z xx
+1 Awesome skills !!
4.
Im mainly a passive guy apart from MM Stingray. Im looking for a good rock tone basically....with some hi fi as an option. Only thing is, I wont be using GK cabs....I cant afford yet more cabs.
Interesting term Hi-Fi If you want clean and defined the GK does that in spades, with power and authority to add into the equation, perfect for Rock. If you want "Jazzy airyness" and pure tonal transparency then maybe there's better heads out there... I really don't know the GB head at all, but it sounds like you'd like what the GK does.
5. The GK head takes some beating in a live situation..... to me it's voiced very much toward sounding great in a band mix as opposed to giving a great bedroom tone, you could easily choose another amp in a shop / house A'B demo, plug a Jazz bass into it with a decent cab/s and it's tone heaven !
6.
Good luck - there are plenty of Victors but Bela is absolutely a one-off.
Good luck with finding a futureman too !!!
7. Ha'Way man get a move on....... i'd have had it done by now !!! ..... mind it would have been Rubbish
8. Alreeeet mate !!! welcome onboard..... so are you playing pro over there in Japan ? What's the scene like..... Jazz / Funk / Rock ? What type of gigs are you playing....... cafe bar / Theatres ? Sounds like a blast !!
9.
I've already had a preliminary consultation with the Doc' However I would like to see/hear this Custom!
Any time mate........
10.
You can laugh mate but I've already considered cutting the top off the Squier, chambering it out and then putting a fancy quilted maple cap on it!
oooh mate..... you're gonna love my longhorn custom, next to my Sadowsky UV70 the body looks pretty dinky !! Decent weight too..... Sounds MASSIVE !!
11. +1 for WD but expensive !! Howard (BassDoc) can do top class torti guards, uses stuff most companies don't use cos it's too expensive !!
12.
WoT is now logging on to confused.com
Compare the Jaz Cat dot com
13. Guys, this was originally on my 1997 Modulus Flea bass...... I had it sprayed sunburst and put a clear guard on £10 incl postage Mark
14. White Stingray guard..... was the original guard supplied with a 2008 Natural Ray, I changed straight away to a black one.... £10 takes it incl postage in UK
15. I've used DR's for nearly 10 years now.... I've stopped buying them, not because of cost (although that's got out of hand lately) but because they don't shrink wrap the boxes any more.... every set of DR's i've purchased in the last year has been dead out of the packet.... Until they start shrink wrapping them again i'm not wasting my money on dead strings !! I've asked String Busters and Strings Direct to give DR this feedback, not holding my breath though Mark
16. Re the car....... lost i'm afraid, I can strip down an Austin A series and rebuild an SU carb, but anything more complicated and i'm lost Re the Cab...... could it be a lead, they do the intermittent fault thing really well !
17. Sell the TF...... and buy this to complete your collection http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FENDER-PRECISION-Fre...A1%7C240%3A1318
18.
A Precision (non-Fender) is incoming.....
Looks like Chris is getting Sad'
19. I used a Mark Bass Rig for a while.... The set up was Loud as hell..... and It did cut through really well, but it was loud in a way that Hitting a dustbin lid is loud ! There was very little body to the note (IMHO) I loved the SA450, but the cabs left something to be desired in my experience. I think with Bass..... unfortunately to get the best in tone (live) you need big heavey cabinets with big heavey magnets !! The laws of Physics can be stretched but not broken !!
20. You could easily throw £300 at upgrading pickups bridge & tuners..... but for £300 you could get a good 2nd hand Mex Fender, that may not be what you want to do though, is the idea of "personalising" the bass more important to you than ending up with a playable, good sounding instrument ? If so a custom paint job could be the way forward.... http://www.simscustom.com/ they do some amazing work !! Enjoy
21. Teasing Warwickhunt with the downsized Sunburst Sadowsky (Now living with CHRISDABASS)
22. OK Guys...... I'll see what I can do re the Pics etc....
23.
It's what Michael wants of course Mark and I know that. I suppose I have a bit of a 'mojo' bee under my bonnet at times I not only think the TF sounds better as a P but the added versatility of the J pup is immense to my ears. The whole lived in, worn in wood thing? It's only 'common 'a' garden wood' that's a few years old. I'm not averse to a bit of genuine ageing and the odd knock breeding familiarity and comfort like an old shoe but don't get me going on relic'ing False aging is just false to me, if I owned a relic'd bass I'd feel like they saw me coming and that I bought something that was a pure fashion statement, like a faded and torn pair of 'new' jeans. But, different we all are.
ha ha..... we'd better not do this one down the pub then..... you're talking to someone who owned a pukka custom shop Jaco Bass of Doom !! LOL Aye..... agree to my lugs the PJ tone from the TF is the nuts !!
