Me giving up Bass for a wee while is just part of a bigger life plan to ensure life can Begin (again) at 40 In the words of another big bloke....... "I'll be Back" ATB Mark
7.
Aguilar....but they are heavy....not sure of the model
The DB750 goes to 2 ohm and is stable there.....
8. 3 Sadowsky basses is too much for one young lad to handle...... you'd most likely explode or something !!
9. Your ability to find lovely instruments i've not heard of never ceases to amaze me !!
10. Pic added..... Better ones tomorrow if it's not sold (NB bass looks a little washed out in the pic, it's a bit darker in real life - crap camera) please note, lots of early interest in the Bass

Does the Sad have VTC? Peter
Hi Peter...... Yes it does have the VTC, which was an optional extra at the time but is now included in all UV's ATB Mark
14. Guys, taking a break from Bass..... so Mint and Hardly used Pre Fender SWR cabs for sale Golliath III & Son of Bertha Both 8ohm Golliath III Was £425 £400 Now £350 for Quick Sale SOB Sold Collection from Sunderland prefered - Delivery not so easy due to stupid 3 seris BMW Also selling Sadowsky UV70 and Aguilar DB750 - due to taking a break from Bass ATB Mark
15. Guys, I bought this Aguilar DB750 a little while ago via BC the chap had only used the head lightly in the studio and I've never had it out of the house !!! Hence....... 1 Mint Aguilar DB750 is up for Grabs As you all know..... the DB751 has replaced the 750 - The general consensus is thet the 751 is a 750 on a budget, gone is the point to point hand built pre-amp, in favour of the less esoteric circuit from the AG500 I'd like to realise as close to £1000 as possible, shipping not practical so collection from Sunderland prefered, although my travel arrangement with work often allow a meet up or deliver.... I'm also Selling a pair of Pre Fender SWR cabs and a Sadowsky Metro UV70 - All due to me taking a break from Bass pics to follow..... ATB Mark
16. Guys, I've spent the last decade swapping and changing instruments about and playing in Bands. It's time for a break...... i'm 40 in Sept 2010 and my Beautiful wife has offered to get me a Bass of my choice made (see seperate thread) so i'm going to take a some time off from playing and generally being consumed by all things Bass related. I really need to focus on my fitness, general health and career over the next 12 - 18 months to ensure that life can begin again at 40 !! The great news for you guys is that i'm selling the Best Jazz Bass i've ever owned (and i've had a serious amount) It's a Sadowsky UV70 Natural Ash Maple white block & Bound (I've recently had the neck lacquered by master finisher Dave Wilson (he finished Stephan Sobel's £20k accoustics. The neck was sprayed in a special formula that is very similar to what PRS used on his, it feels like no other glossy neck i've ever played..... it's just AMAZING !! I was in Guitar Guitar (Newcastle) the day they had 20 or so Sadowsky basses delivered, I helped Steve unpack them and picked out 2 instruments that were (IMHO) the pick of the crop (This UV and an RS4 in Sunburst) CHRISDABASS was after a Sadowsky at the time and I told him about this UV (I had mixed feelings about telling him to be honest because I wanted it so badly - But he's a great lad so I did) I raved about the Bass to Chris and it took him about 5 mins to decide on buying it ! Wind forward a wee while...... I ended up purchasing the Burst RS4, By this time Chris had really got into his NYC small body..... to cut a long storey Chris and I did a deal and I ended up with the UV70..... We all know the price of these Metro's now and their Quality - I can say with some authority this Metro is a total belter.... dare I say it as good as any, and Better than mamy NYC's, it's unbelievably light for a full size Jazz bass and the build, fit and finish is outstanding. The work Dave did to the Bass added hugely (IMHO) to the playability and overal feel of quality about the Bass. In addition to finishing the neck, he dressed the frets and polished them to a mirror finish. Not only did he finish the neck but also the fretboard which looks amazing ! the pearl blocks simply jump out now. I'll get some pics up in a bit...... not sure if my camera work is good enough to do the bass justice, but just to say that the bass isn't the anemic looking Natural Ash that you see it's got a real vintage hew to the colouring and the neck is a perfect shade match to the body..... Action wise...... it goes LOW !!! and plays super clean, it's in the Status Graphite league of playability I'd love anyone to come and try it....... you'll not be disappointed ! Just THE best Jazz bass i've ever played !! Basic pic for now....... better ones to follow Price £1300 collected from Sunderland (I also travel a fair bit with work so delivery / meet half way always a possibility) Aguilar DB750 and pre Fender SWR cabs also for Sale ATB Mark
17. Well done Steve....... a keeper ? ATB Mark
18. Guys, it has to be said my Sadowsky Metro UV70 is better than any other Sadowsky i've played (NYC or Metro) and actually better than any other Jazz bass i've owned, including a hat full of custome shops. It's very light, plays & sets up like a dream and sounds absolutely HUGE !! Stopped by GAS faster than a dose of peptobismol !!!
19. Hi I guess we've all had those boomy gigs when using big backline in small venues.... If you're using the Boogie Buster it's obviously All Valve..... are the Valves in good order ? old output valves won't provide a tight focussed low end, they'll have the potential to sound wooley and loose. If they have deteriorated they may have become microphonic which sounds horrible at volume. I've just purchased an Auralex GRAMMA myself and it's one of those rare products that actually does what you'd hope it does.... simple but very effective ATB Mark
20. Hi Barrie, played the first one they ever built...... a lot heavier than you'd expect, it played like a well set up electric bass as opposed to how badly some acoustic basses can play. I was seriously considering one when we had an acoustic side line with the U2 stuff called "Folk U2" I was using a Victor Bailey and struggling with feedback live, the robust construction meant if was far less prone to feedback than your typical ac bass Simply the best acoustic bass i've ever had my hands on, sits lovely on the lap with the thigh cut away
21.
I think in that case, unless your obviously very understanding missus won't mind you selling it on in 18 months, you should be very bloody nervous You need to think about this very carefully every day for a while. This bass will need to be your closest friend for the rest of your natural, the bass you go to whatever your emotion. The WifeBass. You will need to DREAD that day after you've lived with WifeBass for a while and you start GASing for a SpaltBass or a '64 Jazz, or a Ritter .. I think for a man your kind, you may wish to consider a bass that belonged to a famous bassist you like or respect. I hear Stuart Zender may sell off more of his collection ..
Er, yeah..... thanks !! I've already had 2 Ex Mark King Basses and one owned by Mark Egan, didn't keep them 5 mins !!! Worst case scenario is I hate it (whatever bass I go for) and hang it on the wall forever...... it doesn't have to end with me selling it !
22. ....... It's a fair observation you make ! However..... my Missus has never bought me a bass, i've never been 40 before and i've never had any sentimentality towards an instrument !! ATB
23.
Ripped from the GB site (ugh). Dick the Boffin solders up each one by hand and makes sure they are just perfect.
Bernies Basses can be among the best looking instruments i've ever seen.... I do sometimes wonder about the complexity of the electronics, I guess my concern is how much of the tone comes from the circuit ? I guess I like to feel that the tone from my instrument comes from my fingers and the wood. Can I ask you GB boys what the build time is for one of Bernies instruments these days ? ATB
24.
Marcus i cant play the link...? Really want to hear this... Is it just my Mac?? Oh i just realised thats you...Duuhhh.. Give me a link that works bro..
hey up mate.... it's just a photo i'm afraid, sorry me banging on about the gear made it sound like there should be audio I think I might have some video somewhere I could dig out but it'd be low quality, live stuff... Enjoy the Bass it's a cracker....
25.
I can't tell from your list if you've had these but I'd suggest you include side LED's in the spec. They are a real bonus on a real gigging bass..
Yeah i've had LED's they're great, i'll certainly consider them in my build spec
