13. Guys, after much scratching of Nuts...... I've decided on my Custom 40th Birthday Bass I'm going to have a "Dave Wilson" Dave has looked after my Instruments for the last decade and has "fettled" my Basses from Alembic, Fodera, GB, Sadowsky, Jaydee, Fender CS Modulus ..... etc etc His work is outstanding and it will mean a lot that a mate has built my 40th Birthday present to my Spec.... certainly much more than having a Butterfly or a Cloud on my headstock !!! Spec as follows : Neck Through Construction with Jazz Shape Body & Headstock 34 inch Scale Maple Neck thru construction 5 piece with 2 Purple heart stringers Ebony Fretboard Chambered Swamp Ash body wings Bookmatched cocobola top & headstock laminate Nordstrand Big Singles Aguilar OBP1 preamp Gold Harware Hipshot Ultra light machine heads Hipshot Bridge The Bass will be constructed slowly over the next 16 months beginning with the Neck Blank which will be started very soon giving plenty of time for the wood to settle together as it's constructed. I may do a Build Diary even !! Thanks for all the great suggestions Guys Mark

 16.
I'm a bit above all that Flea stuff, to be honest. I like to be challenged.
Understood
 17.
Thats the key benefit from a well crafted instrument. If the woods are selected and well matched, the instrument should feel alive. No dead spots, the whole instrument is rigid and each note jumps off the fingerboard. But even the wood from the same tree can sound different depending on what part of the trunk its come from. There's no reliable way to distinguish the best wood from adequate wood apart from experience. It's the acid test of a craftsman who can pick and match the woods that give rise to this quality. There are many similarities with violins in that respect I guess. BTW, I contacted a supplier of the ancient swamp kauri that was used in that guitar I posted earlier. They want $6500 (£2500) a cubic metre for the most dramatically grained stuff because there's only a limited supply.
Heck..... I think i'll go into the old tree business !!
 18. LOL..... yeah can see that one coming !!! But can you imagine a Jazz strung up with rounds snarling and biting through those Bergs !! Lush !
Don't get too excited, sonny Jim. IF - and it's a big if - I do get a J, I'll do what I always do with em... ...run the neck pup solo'd and grumble to myself that it doesn't sound enough like a P.
23.
Crikey, WoT letting a vintage Precision go? Suddenly the World seems different; things I'd taken for granted no longer hold true, a new order etc etc. This is kinda like Dylan going electric
Micheal too has realised you can't beat a good Jazz Bass
 24.
Might have to look for a new moniker.
How About : WarwickFNAJazzmanhunt ???
