Major attempted downsize with 4 basses now up for sale (SG, Mustang, Jazz, Bordwell). 

The moment you weigh all you basses (doctor’s advice) and realise your lightest is 4.2kg (9.2 lbs) and heaviest is 4.8 (10.5). Hmmmm.......

Tonight is my first gig with Bowie tribute band Rebel Heroes. We'll be playing from 8.30-ish (which could actually be 9.00!) at the Cornerhouse, 1 Christchurch St East, Frome BA11 1QA. For the gear nerds, I will be mostly playing my '63 AVRI Precision through a Demeter head into a BF Super Twin. If you're a Basschatter, come up and say hello - but not while we're actually playing!

It's January, so it's that time of year when the band I'm in decides to implode. It's a different band every year by the way. Back to square one it is then.

Hi there Happy Jack! Since reading through the listings on Hofners, I see you are the man in the know on these basses.

For the 60's band I play in, Carnabyarmy.com, I've come to the realization that the Hofner is the right fit for our sound. I started with a Icon series Club bass....it sounded pretty darn good, but I just couldn't jive with the quality, so I've moved on to a HCT Club bass...which is pretty darn good, but of course lack's some of the classic Hofner sound because of the center block, so I tried a few Senator basses and they're great. I have one in hand (1964), but the owner didn't explain that the neck was replaced with a pre 1960's bass so there's no truss rod and the neck is bowed so it's unadjustable and basically unplayable for me.

Any thoughts on who might have one for sale? or any tips on getting a bow out of a non truss rod Hofner neck?

Well I was wanting to buy a used valve amp. However my girlfriend has sent me a pic of a ring she wants and must have now! To be fair she did say she would buy me an amp at the end of next month, if I get her the ring. But like her I also have no patience haha. I will get her the ring. 

Offer of 2 free Peavey cabs was not to be missed. Trouble was cabs weigh 156lbs each and I live on top floor 🙂 Problem now solved,one step at a time 👍
