  1. My '94 blueburst lined fretless
  2. I resemble this remark. Also arranging two hours drives to meet up at a service station, audition each others bass in the car park and then geek about bass over a coffee inside.
  3. Just bought a Zoom MS60B from Patrick. Arrived well packed and on time. Really easy deal. Top fella! Thanks again Patrick Cheers! Keir
  4. I know. 'Tis a strange set of affairs. Shame was not the one for you Mike but has to be right or whats the point? Nevertheless was good talking bass for an hour. 🙂 Re the profile I should say it's quite a chunky neck. Not uncomfortably so and it's not a U shape either but a deeper shouldered fuller C shape if that makes any sense. Keir
  5. A Basschatter is viewing the Bogart 5 on Friday morning. Come round after that and have a look at the StingRay 5 instead
  6. Now on hold pending trade SKC Bogart Sport 5 string custom built by Stephan Hess in Obernburg am Main in Germany. Bought from lowregisterhead on this forum a few months ago. Blackstone body - various composites wrapped round a spruce core and finished in Alpine White with carbon fibre neck and phenolic composite fingerboard. The pickups are USA Bartolinis and the preamp is a Mike Pope Flexcore with 4 band EQ. There is also a switch for coil tapping the bridge humbucker. Scale length is 35" string spacing at bridge is 19mm weight is 3.6 kgs Amazing bass with super playability, fantastic tone and killer looks. Comes with hard case. Bass is in excellent condition with no cosmetic, mechanical, electronic or structural issues. Bass is in Market Drayton, North Shropshire. Would trade for a StingRay 5 in similar condition with maple fretboard. Trans teal or trans red would be my ideal choices but colour not a deal breaker.
  7. I think I want a clear pickguard for my hybrid 5. Looks so much better than the white one imo
  8. I play a couple of Metro Express fives with my band - a J/J and a P/J. Which begs the question, why do I have a couple of more expensive four strings (MM Sabre & Klos Apollo) and a pair of very capable five strings (MM StingRay 5 and SKC Bogart 5) sitting at home? Sometimes I think I need my head checked. But then again I've always sold basses if I need the money for something else.
  9. I had a factory lined fretless Deluxe in the same see thru red. Only sold it as part of a cull when I relocated 250 miles south. Fantastic basses these Deluxes (and the Elites) and this fretless conversion of yours looks very clean. Excellent job! GLWTS!
  10. Bought a Marshall Vibratrem pedal from Ross. Really impressed with the pedal and the deal was super smooth and easy. Arrived before I expected it to as well. Another top basschatter. Highly recommended! Cheers Keir
  11. Bought a Behringer sansamp clone from Mickey. Arrived in super quick time and exactly as described. Many thanks Mickey! Cheers Keir
  12. My Klos Apollo Std in aqua
  13. Miami blue? So pretty😍
  14. Same for me. I had a black 1980 which I owned between 1989 and 1997 (swapped it for a Streamer Stage 1 but that's another story) I remember ogling and hankering after the very svelte looking EB models at Rose Morris in Denmark Street, who I always thought carried a great selection of MM basses at that time. And again later when I moved back to SW Scotland at Sound Control and I remember marvelling at the woods and finishes on the EB basses. Then I bought a 1990 Sabre in 1994 and again the woods, fit and finish made me think my pre EB was a clunky old thing. Still loved it though until said Streamer Stage 1 appeared.
  15. I owned both a Ray34HH and Ray35HH and I found the output drop on the in between positions 2 & 4 (both inner and both outer coils) made switching between those tones and positions 1, 3 and 5 almost impossible in a live band setting. The in between positions sounded great but almost impossible to keep a consistent output if switching settings. Shame really as both basses were otherwise really nice. I didn't get this problem with a USA deluxe Fender Dimension HH 5. That was a great sounding bass and the inner and outer coil settings sounded terrific.
  16. Red mirror pickguard bought off here for my '05 LE
  17. I struggle to comprehend that this is actually my first Sandberg. Bought off here just recently-beautiful VS5 with capabilities that far exceed its relatively low price and single pickup. I'm hugely impressed and now a bit of a Sandberg convert🙂
  18. My Classic Sabre 😍 Gets me really close to a StingRay. Has the Lakland H+S mode and does the 'hollow' two pickup tone with the switch in the middle position. There's a lovely woody P bass mode tone on position 4 and lastly a nice fat warm neck humbucker on its own. I prefer the 'Lakland' and 'P bass' inbetween settings on the Sabre 5 way compared to both inner and both outer coils settings on a StingRay HH.
  19. Understated and classy looking imo. F basses really intrigue me. Would love to try one.
  20. Bought Rick's Sandberg VS5 which is now my Sandberg VS5! Lovely instrument at a super price. Rick was great to deal with throughout. Top fella and an absolute credit to Basschat. Many thanks Rick for a really easy deal. All the best! Keir
  21. Stunning! Red/maple 😍
  22. Love this black/black/maple combo on a Jazz bass. If only this were a 5 or that I still bought 4s
  23. I recently let go a modern 5, black with maple board.Everything about it was top drawer It was a sublime thing that always sounded great. and was a real jack of all trades, master of everything and anything sort of bass. This one looks lush in sunburst😍
  24. Kept hoping either would re appear on here but neither ever did. Still, #42 kept basschat marketplace ticking over for a while😁
