  1. Pearl white Sterling Ray35HH with roasted neck. Sunburst 5H with (darker) roasted neck
  2. Nick bought my G&L JB-2 fretless and was an absolute pleasure to deal with throughout. Thanks Nick for quick payment and I hope the bass serves you well Keir
  3. I love it too. I've got the Sabre Appreciation Page on FB. Be good to see it on there https://www.facebook.com/groups/406658267997398/?ref=share_group_link
  4. That's the exact bass I had back in the mid 90s and sold before I moved down under for a couple of years. God I still miss it now. That and a Sabre exactly the same colour/guard/board which I briefly saw hanging on a music shop wall in Glasgow about 20 years ago. I went to go back and try it a couple of days later but it was gone.
  5. The pearl grey L2000 is a Fullerton Deluxe model which is a full fat USA L2K that comes with a gig bag instead of a case. Grey/maple or Ruby red/rosewood are the only two choices.
  6. Feels great. Not sticky at all. Profile is very comfy too 🙂
  7. Love it! Hard for any Jazz to oust the Valenti though eh? Seriously nice Lakland. I had my head turned by them after I bought a 44-60 on here and found the plek'd neck meant it had the lowest, playable action of any bass I owned at the time. Seller is one of the good guys. Done a couple of sales/trades between us and he is a top fella to deal with.
  8. PM'd. Passive electronics seem to work really well with this bass if I compare it to a 2EQ Ray with status neck I had a while back. Lots of top end was accentuated with the carbon fibre neck and the stingray sizzle on that bass. Seems enough top end on this but doesn't ever get out of hand. I'm going to try it through a Sadowsky SBP2 and see how that goes
  9. The Klos arrived yesterday and is 7lbs 10oz and balances perfectly. Lots to like, only quibble is not much space between the end of the neck and the neck pickup. (Apparently they will make pickguards to suit with the neck pickup further back) No complaints with any aspect of the fit and finish of the bass and it plays great. I believe they are plek'd before final inspection.
  10. I had a blueburst fretted SR5 with maple board, white pickup cover and guard back in the mid nineties. I still think its my favourite MM combo along with teal/black/rosewood. Really great looking bass😍
  11. I've had both too and echo what others have said The MFD pickups on my new to me early MIK big Tribute logo SB-2 are very, very loud for a passive bass. Feels like it's got a longer neck than 21 frets and I always liked the placement and tone of the bridge single coil too. (I had a USA Custom shop SB-2 many moons ago) The Tribute LB-100 I had was a great P bass. I just found the neck had, for me, an unusually big profile. Andertons had new LB-100s at less than half the price of a Mexican player Precision which is just crazy cheap for the amount of bass you get for your money.
  12. I thought exactly same thing. Maple should be on the miami blue and rosewood for the dark night. Guess it's time the lefties got the best pick for once.
  13. I was originally after a Status replacement neck for my Sledge MusicMan Sabre but the prices have gone a bit crazy lately. Hoping this is all I need it to be (Have only had you tube videos etc to go on) Will report back once I have it
  14. I ordered a Klos Apollo Standard in the aqua finish earlier today from the very helpful customer services at Klos HQ in Utah, USA. Now just the wait for it. (Not my bass but no doubt looks the same)
  15. White pickguards normally ship with the sunburst, red, green and blue basses with either morado or maple board. Black and white have the tort guards from what I've seen This is a bargain. The gig cases on these are superb at this price point too imo
  16. Looks very clean, but yes tort plate is THE way to go on Oly white/rosewood
  17. I bought the StingRay fretless with a view to seeing if it could oust my passive G&L JB-2 fretless. (I only want to keep the one fretless) I've owned a couple of Musicman fretless basses in the past and they are wonderful, it was just hard justifying keeping it when it cost me almost twice what the USA made G&L did. One thing about the MM is that I really loved the mid control on the fretless. I've tended to prefer 2EQ on fretted StingRays but the 3EQ was great on a fretless. Nothing that couldn't be adjusted for on your amp but with a fretless, better having it on the bass making it feel that bit more intuitive imo
  18. I just sold one. Lovely bass that was set up perfectly, I just preferred my G&L fretless (J pickups and ebony board vs humbucker and pau ferro)
  19. One man's meat.... On the lighter side for Harley Benton JB's from what I've read but is that just for the JB75? Personally 9lbs 2oz doesn't feel like a lot to me. I have four basses all +10lb and one touching 11. I've messaged Thomann re the damage will wait and see what they come back with
  20. Arrived this morning. Had an hour spent with it so here goes The good: Love the colour, looks brilliant with the tort plate and matching headstock. After a set up the bass plays great with no noisy electronics and I have zero complaints with the tones on offer. No issues with the tuners either which appear solid enough. Lastly the weight is only 9lbs 2oz/4.14 kg. The not so good: Fret ends were a bit rough (sorted now) The bad: Bass has been dropped in transit by the looks of it. Small chip on the end of the headstock which has taken a small piece of the paint off. At the other end the strap button has been pushed in past the paint and is bent slightly. Bass doesn't appear to have suffered any other damage. Not quite sure what to do now as the small cosmetic issues at both end of the bass don't bother me that much but they shouldn't be there.
  21. Mines (the Dakota red) is being delivered today. I had to put the delivery back from Monday as I've been away. I'll update later today with weight, pics etc
  22. Thanks Mart. Is in all probability the best fretless I've owned and that includes the '94 Stingray fretless I just sold. Reason being I think I like an ebony board and bridge J single coil tone most of all on a fretless.
  23. My current G&L contingent
  24. Didn't have an L-1505 but I did own the same L-1500 twice. That was one sharp toned, almost nasal sounding bass. The treble could be made to induce the same reaction as hearing nails being drawn down a blackboard. But it had a ton of character and never could not be heard. I miss it!
