Bought a Line 6 Bass Pod Pro from Simon. When it arrived it had clearly been knocked around and/or thrown in the back of a van by Royal Mail. Turns out the power transformer has come away from the main board and the unit can't be powered up. Simon refunded me straight away and has been a top fella throughout the transaction. Bought a Hardwire HT6 PolyTuner from Ed. Top basschatter - Ed messaged me to say that his spare HT6 had an issue when he gave it a check over so sent me out his main one. Things like this make the basschat buying experience as good as it is. Many thanks Ed, much appreciated Keir

Joe Dart II has the Caprice body shape which looks great in black but would have been infinitely better looking with the bridge from the Ray24 and 34.

I recently got a Euro 5LT from Bass Bros with the Fishman Fluence pickups. It was a lovely thing and sounded great.... ...but I should have known the neck profile would be too big, having had a NS5 CRFM and Euro 5LX the guts of twenty years ago. I sold the bass but I'd genuinely love a Euro 5 variant with a less chunky neck if such a thing exists.

Silk and steel strings? Lower tension but with a softer sound. I've seen most of the big string makers offer these types of strings

Absolutely spot on re the quality. The fit and finish is insanely good. Going to have to check out the Will Lee. Whenever I see the regular J/J and modern 24 five string basses they've got the wider neck.

Bought this German Metroline as just couldn't see past it. Absolutely wonderful instrument in every respect, it's a pure joy to play and is at the very least the equal of the Japanese Metro Modern 24 five string I owned previously. One thing is the fretboard doesn't seem as wide further up the neck as on the Metro and also the Metro Expresses which is something I like.

Just picked up this cherryburst USA L-2500. Set it up this afternoon and it's now just about where I want it. Always loved the cherryburst/maple combo on these ( as well as on Lakland Skyline 55-02s)

The other brand I've really been turned onto is ACG. Received a Krell 4 string custom off Paddy777 in a trade on here in March of last year and I've since bought a RetroB 5 string as well as a new Graft 5 string direct from Alan at AC guitars. I've now taken the plunge and ordered a custom 5 string from Alan which is something I've never done before but I'm really happy to be doing and can't wait till the day comes I drive to the ACG workshop to pick it up. Fantastic basses. Can't speak highly enough of them.

Another vote for the Lakland Skylines. I've played and owned Musicman, G&L, Fender, Warwick amongst others but I never owned a Skyline until 2021. I've owned five since then and they've all been really great basses. I sold on the four strings but kept the fives as they are now my 'go to' brand for band work now. I have a quilt top 55-02 Deluxe, a 55-60 with East J Retro preamp and a flame top 55-AJ. I want to pick a winner but I can't. 55-AJ (Active Jazz?) 55-60 55-02

They've definitely become one of my go to brands. The plek'd necks play so well, and yes they sound great.

Lovely looking bass! I had a 2008 Japanese Metro M5-24 for a bit. Hindsight is a wonderful thing for I know now I should have kept it. Build quality was impeccable.
