This has probably been done, another thread just made me think of it though.. Mine was a black Marlin slammer P-Bass copy with a maple fingerboard. Bought for £25 in 1988. I now know it was an awful Bass, but at the time I didn't know any different and I did some serious learning on that thing! Often wish I still had it, just for nostalgia.
Mine was a red Marlin Sidewinder!! I mean, for 1989 or whatever it was when I got mine, it wasn't a bad bass, not compared to some - and even better than some modern 'entry level' instruments today if I am totally honest. I was a ply body though, but I liked it's nod to the Jazz Bass Special and Precision Deluxe models. I too learned so so much on that bass!

single bass bridges, you wont believe the price!!

I've got a set of 5 Chrome ones for sale on BC which are installed on Dingwall basses. -
Hey Dood, I downloaded the BIAS demo set to give it a go but I can't find anywhere were it says what restrictions there are if any with it. Does it just run like the free version of Amplitube where it is just that you have a limited set of gear to work with but that there is no time limit? Can't find anything on the site. Edit: was just playing with it and the sound randomly drops out. Hate that with demos.
Yup that's correct, the sound does drop out in the demo versions and yes, I'm not a fan of it either! I'd rather have a fully functioning version for a week for example. That said, I LOVE that PG is available on IOS and it sounds great using BIAS and associated apps on a mobile device. There's even a thread on BC about how to do that instead of taking your amp to a gig. Bonus!

It might not be the answer you are after, but here's my amp sim software of choice - http://www.positivegrid.com/index.html%3Fp=8125.html - in fact all of the Positive Grid products are stunning. I've just finished recording bass for a new album and every single part has used 'BIAS' and 'BIAS FX'. Super stunning!
Just wondering if anyone has had these fitted and what the results are like?
The results are very very good indeed!
Would they not go up the truss rod channel?
The cabling could foul the operation of the truss rod I guess. I read in the past that lathes similar to those used in gun making (long drills as mentioned above) are used to make the channels for the cabling and LEDs.

Thanks Biro - yes, the laptop is the easy bit and have a machine more than capable of doing way more than I need - but I'd like to see if one of these 'tiny machines' can do the job. I have an external interface that can handle audio and MIDI so that's the easy bit. I think the interface is actually bigger than some of those 'net-top' boxes and certainly huge in comparison to Stick PCs!

I've just treated myself to a WMD Utility Parametric EQ. I'll let you know how I get on with it. Not just mids though, this is a full Para EQ pedal. YAY!

Hey all! Just wondered if anyone is using a Micro PC or even a stick PC to run music software, even a basic DAW on? Would love to know if it's possible to run bass (via an interface) through some plug ins as a bit of a project. Just for fun at the moment. If I could, I'd run MacOS and Mainstage 3, but there are plenty of other options including using my favourite 'Reaper' by CockOS as the audio platform. What should I be looking for in a Micro PC? I'd like lots of memory and an SSD, though the drive doesn't have to be huge. Would love to hear your thoughts, especially of you have already experimented down this route! Dood

I'd start with loose components too. The front grill is usually a menace - you could remove it completely to check that and if the rattles carry on without it, at least you'l be ready to look for the next loose component inside.

Brilliant amp! Not sure what possessed me to sell it but pleased to see its still delivering the goods!! I'd be inclined to add more speakers - maybe a BF 1x12 to sit on top which will also give you a flexible modular rig.

Lightweight tuners, how much difference do they really make?
Dood replied to a topic in Accessories and Misc
I have done exactly the same thing but with a set of OEM tuning keys and now have a set of reverse tuning GB640's on board. I have to say, that I didn't realise it was such a little difference in numbers - I expected the 100g to be a lot more. I have to say though, it does feel noticeable on this bass, but even if it didn't, you'll thank yourself just for the feel of those GB keys! So smooth, no rattles, to slippage. -
Alternatively is the full range side marked in some way so that you can have this one higher up?
It's the one on the left. (Which would put it at the top if you sat the cabinet on it's feet, stood vertically)

ahhh! Found it - http://plectrum.ch/product/the-original-mega-anvil-clear-acrylic

Another option FinnDave, is to go custom! We have custom basses - but did you know that you can also have plectrums made too? Patrick hufschmid of http://www.hufschmidguitars.com was contacted by a guitarist who had difficulties holding plectrums too, so he made a pick that had a really large grip area but small playing point. Since seeing that post on Instagram, I've been seeings some really tasty plectrums appear on my feed, as you'll see here: Maybe drop him a line and see what can be done for you? http://plectrum.ch/products - I mean, if a normal thumb pick is the wrong angle, then coming up with a solution to suit you perfectly? I really like that idea. I like solving and creating things! Oh and you'll be the envy of the rest of us if you end up with something similar to the offerings on that website!! Good luck, I hope that you end up creating something that will inspire (and help) others too!

Smooth transaction, great communications! Thanks Anth! Pleasure

'Do' take it to a pro! That's way too nice to risk. If you are in London W1, I think your nearest 'pro' is The Bass Gallery. A lovely 'wet look' glassy lacquer on that will look very cool I think!
Never use the bridge. I only ever use neck or neck/middle positions.
Yes, same here! Maybe the bridge pickup on mine is a bit pants... actually, compared to my other guitars, the bridge pickup is pants - but the other settings do a rather good Gilmour/Marvin/Knopfler vibe through the right kit.

I'll just leave this here... some really funny stories http://www.419eater.com/
