1. Bought this very cool pedal recently, a few months ago actually. But having moved to a slightly different pedal board arrangement, I already have plenty of EQ options, so - ungigged, no marks, not needed! http://wmdevices.com/products/utility-parametric-eq I can send a picture if you really need, but it's pretty much, ya know - the same! Original box and delivered to your England doorstep for £80 - may need to add a bit more for the rest of the world!
 2. I was about to share the link of my own JD build in the Build Diaries forum, but I seem to have somehow lost all the important images. I may have deleted them If I can I'll find some pictures I'll edit the post and upload.
 3.
I have had a lot of active and passive basses and never had an active one quieter than the passive ones ...is this unusual ?
Actually no! - The Tobias electronics are a bit on the quiet side on the Toby versions. I also recall having some active pickups in a bass that were certainly quieter than Dimarzio passive pickups too. The way I remedied this and may be helpful for the OP was to install an EMG PA-2 in the quiet bass. It's actually a gain booster switch, but all I did was install it inside the cavity permanently engaged - then by A/B'ing between my two basses I set the PA-2 so that both matched levels. The other bass had a full EMG system in, so it naturally had the higher output. Job done. On that note, the level problem switching between basses is also the reason that my main pairs of instruments have the same pickups in.
 4.
Hi Dan Acoustically it's fine, which leads me to the option of a electronics change.. As I'm a "get the source right" sort of person, I'd likely change the pups first, probably to some split coil nordstrands, and then the preamp... It's not urgent so maybe I'll keep an eye out for some bart soapbar size pickups on here...
Those Nord' Big Singles are pretty tasty, I reckon they'd be a nice option too, or as I've suggested, the Aguilar pickups are superb too.
 5. I've reviewed the A6 and I really liked it. I can't remember off the top of my head we were plugged in to though. Could have been a TH500 and Bergy CN212 at the time. It felt familiar to me as I'm used to and have played Tobias, Conklin and now Shuker basses that I think have a similar neck profile. I can't comment on the 5 string as I've not had the pleasure of playing one yet but I've always liked the look of the A series. Even this one! As for recommendations - well, I have to say that every time I've had a bass with Bartolini pickups in, I've taken them out. Strangely, every time I've installed something with bar magnets like EMG DC pickups, or the rather superb Aguilar DCBs in EMG width. Aggie also do Bart size shells too, so maybe give them a go? The East circuit is always going to get a thumbs up, especially the SP(?) version with the adjustable frequency centres. Upgrade or move on? Well, play the bass for a good week or so unplugged. Decide if it feels good to play and sounds good acoustically. Hopefully that will help you decide. Oh! Stick different strings on too! I've just transformed my P bass by not using one type of string over another. It seems to have taken on a new life!!! Shame you aren't closer as it's a bass I'd like to try myself at some point. Dan
 6.
OK - only one column is producing treble to mimic that of a PA line array - but going from the mics, the sandman couldn't careless about that!
The left hand drivers are the full range ones and the right hand ones have the top end roll off.
 7. What's shocking is that these regional rates have pretty much stayed the same even since I first started playing. Even 'Minimum Wage' has managed to increase in comparison lol..
 8. Some people say they really do exist - and there's definitely a spike in the top end
 9.
That's interesting... now what about Karl??
Marl pit A pit dug to extract nutrient rich clay (marl), which was used as an agricultural fertilizer. Marl pits date to the post-medieval period and often their existence is evidenced through place names. I reckon I awwta mow in. Ahhhs roight, what we gawt in nawfuk unt'ut accordin-lie. Jollificearshuns. Just heffin' a mardle.
 10. The bass guitar, even just the guitar, or drums.. well, any instrument consumes me! That's not even a poetic exaggeration either. There have been times in my life for one reason or another that I've not been in a band and for quite long periods; I don't think a day has gone by when I haven't done at least something music related. It really is who I am and what I do. I sit and study, research and love everything about the instrument. Play, Jam, create, focus on, whatever you want to call it. Being able to connect with other musicians and share our passion is what drives me and when I am not allowed to do that, I have discovered I end up in a dark place. So whether I am playing in a band, doing session or dep work, teaching or working for the biggest digital magazine in the world I'm a happy chappy. I feel very lucky to be able to do this for a living and I fear for the day I won't be able to do any. I don't need to be gigging all the time, but I won't stop playing without yet I'll be excited with the prospect of playing again!
 11. The way I have managed to get round fizzy top end when it's gear I can't mess with, is to use a speaker emulator type pedal on the distortion side of things. I bought a Fender Micro DI (which is just a rebadged Mooer pedal for less money) and found that it has been useful for such a job. It doesn't do any clever IR function sor anything like that, basically it's just a steep EQ in a DI pedal that can be engaged to simulate a 4x12 guitar cabinet. Works quite well with bass too and have found that the roll off means heavy distortion sounds a bit more like you'd hope. Of course, there are way more expensive units out there that do all manner of amplifier / cabinet simulations to a much better degree, but it's a little box I keep in my toolkit just in case!
 12.
No worries Dan, I love the WT550 I got off you - has done me proud many a gig!
13. I've recently taken advantage of 64 Audio's upgrade offer and have ordered a new set of ADEL A8 models as I have been so pleased with the V8. I'll be back with a review of those too!
 14.
I'm which case, if you want true stereo, you need the ACS live system - or maybe check out Klang.com
Now THAT is very cool. I've been checking out the intro' video on the Klang website!
 15.
Excellent! Does that mean I needn't bother? More to the point, can you tell us in a word if the MiniMax is any good or not..?
Although I'm asked not to do a separate review of an item until it has been in the mag (which is fair) I can tell you that the review is a positive one. Yes, it is good.
 16.
Ah-ha! Review anywhere?
I was in the studio a couple of weeks ago and have reviewed the Headliner 1000, the MiniMega and MiniMax. Keep your eyes peeled for a feature soon!
 17.
Great review dood! Really enjoyed reading about your experience.
I have you to thank, but mainly I hope it will help others too!
 18. The 80's Japan Fender Power Jazz Bass Special is a little treat! PJ with a very skinny J neck. Active 'filter' EQ circuit as standard and a reverse P pickup. Extended cutaway and that all important high E on on the G string. Lovely bass - is a great all rounded!
 19.
Sounds like a plan, I'm using 2 x 112 at 8 ohms each on the BH550, in theory I could run a 12 eg and eden at 4 ohms off the BH250....?
Yes, a single 4 ohm cabinet or a pair of 8 ohms off the Bh250. Thinking about it, the more speakers connected to the Bh250 will make it seem louder. It's the best way to shift more air. Then the whole task becomes redundant as you may as well save the hassle and get a pair of 2x12's to run off the BH550 such as the K-212 cabinets!
 20. Here's a tip for the WT550. Don't sell yours. You will realise afterwards that it's a great amplifier - even if you do have too many amplifiers already!
 21. Yup this will work - I'd suggest putting the BH250 on top of the rest of the stack nearer your ear. This will mean that you'll be able to balance the volume between each amp with more perceived volume output before the BH250 runs out of steam. Your BH550 with two cabinets will go noticeably louder than the 250 plugged in to one of the same. Not a problem if your gig is never louder than the 250 will go when up by your ear..
 22.
Yes. It's about tim you changed that T shirt!
It's taken me this long to get a new avatar!
