Went to plug in my old trusty Focusrite Saffire 6 USB. Took a look on their website which says that it is supported with a convenient link to download the drivers. Duly downloaded and installed (as administrator just in case). Plugged in via USB and not working Looked on Device Manager, then manually pointed the "update driver" routine to the relevant folder but said no driver files found... I'd hate to have to part with this Focusrite Saffire 6 USB - its been a rock. Any ideas? Interweb shows lots of other peeps happily connecting immediately.
Did you reboot too? If not, sometimes drivers won't ...ummm.. drive until you do

There was one the other day. I linked to it in my status on BC, but it has since gone. I've found that my PM notifications are working ok now though. I'll send you a test message to see if you're still having problems today.

I think you'll get a long list from users as it can be quite a personal thing over which one thinks is better over another that seemingly looks exactly the same on paper. Work flow or indeed just the arrangement of functions within the app can either make or break it. I use Macs myself now so have ended up using Logic Pro X more often that not - but for my cross-platform DAW that I still love, I use Reaper by Cockos. It features everything in your list bar an extensive library of soft-synths, but that said, there are plenty of free options of those too which will get you started. I'm surprised to see Reaper wasn't on the list you posted (as you can download it for free, though I think it is more than worth it's low price!). It runs on both Windows and Mac, the online user forum is brilliant, the manuals actually make sense and there are plenty of tutorials online too. Oh and recently added, you can notate in the DAW too.

Anyone with experience with New TC BH amps and K series cabs?
Dood replied to zawinul's topic in Amps and Cabs
Hang in there, it's Saturday, most people have other things to do. Like, having a life for example. Be patient. As it happens I have just reviewed the entire range of cabs and have previously reviewed both the BH heads. I'll reply when I've got some time to give you my thoughts. -

Bumping an old thread as it'd be great to get some more views on these K cabs?

The differences in tone of a floating bridge guitar when changing from a cast trem block to a solid brass one is immense. I feel the same must be achievable going from a skinny bit of tin to a substantial well made bridge. Certainly in my own upgrades, a high quality, high mass bridge does improve the girth of the tone, but there are 'high mass' bridges on eBay that only, to my mind, offer a visual difference. Probably owing to what they are made of.
Dam if only I hadn't put a deposit on another ng2 I'd have snapped this up and I'm only 5 mile away glwts mate ...
Nyargh lol! Yes, just down the road from me! I guess you wouldn't have the option of cancelling unless it's within a normal 14 day cool off (I guess that still applies). I've had the odd message asking why the price is low - well, it's because of the nut and electronics having been swapped and of course that little ding which has really cheesed me off! Other than that it is quite the perfect bass.. That I have to sell. Either that or something else will have to go.

The foot switch is supposed to have momentary buttons not latching. You'll find that Digitech's 3 way foot switch will work too.
I can offer a different perspective. I did a skype lesson with Antony Wellington awhile back. I found it very natural - but then i do have a 46" tv with cameras and skype It was just like being in the studio with him. It helped that Antony really knows what he's doing and he has the skype lesson thing down to a T.
Don't get me wrong in my response, it IS possible to do Skype, but it certainly has it's limitations no matter how good the teacher is. I'd still be able to deliver a great lesson using Skype, but I suppose I don't just 'teach bass', I offer way more music related services to all of my students.

Skype can work, but certain requirements need to be met to make it the sort of experience that I would be happy teaching. Due to the interactive software that I use to teach my students, Skype was a problem. In that respect, I found it limiting as I couldn't draw on a massive catalogue of material that I usually would face to face unless I had prepared a specific lesson that used it. Furthermore it was a problem if my student was at the end of a bad connection and trying to view my 'teaching space' on a small laptop screen. Not all students are IT literate and would rather not have to be instructed what to change on their screen so they can see the material correctly in lesson time. Skype isn't really designed for that sort on interactive experience anyway and thus I personally would look for a 'online meeting platform' instead. The online offerings that I have looked at briefly aren't really conducive to the way I teach anyway. I'm not a 'Mrs Miggins at the piano' sort of teacher and thus my 'hands on jamming' approach for example is difficult through a 13" portal that suffers from dire latency!

Hi Sammybee! In the past I used Cubase quite a lot on PC based systems. I stopped using Cubase and switched to one of the other DAWs you mention for many years which came 'with me' as I moved to using a Mac. It was of course an obvious thing to do to switch to using Logic as well. I have to say that my first experiences with the then Logic 9 did not go well! I found it confusing and the workflow did not seem errr.. logical in comparison to they way that I had learned from my other DAWs. Important note to make there. Some are similar in workflow and others are very different. You'll find things in places that you might not think are where they should be or are easy to remember! Don't let that put you off, because it probably will! This is also one reason I hear from most people for choosing one DAW over another. So, I moved up to Logic Pro X and found I had a similar problem as I still hadn't really had time to learn 9 thoroughly. This is my recommendation to make life easy! Everything changed when I started using the Logic Remote app on my iPad (if you have one of course!!!) - I couldn't remember where to find certain commands on screen, but discovered you can essentially make your own board of regularly used commands and have them as separate buttons on the iPad screed to remote control LPX. For example, if I am tracking an instrument I might have the obvious Record,Play,Stop buttons but even having a save, undo and the ability to jump back to where I started, or jump between takes at the touch of a button makes my life easier and I can create faster. I hope that's a bit of help and just my experience alone switching from 'old' Cubase to 'new' Logic. I'm afraid I can't comment on the functionality of versions of Cubase that were already out when I switched to a different DAW. Dan
